I think the floaters are pretty relevant to the story, because though their lore is a bit boring, they are responsible for the floating island, which was the first Degasi Base on the map. It also allowed for dozens of unique plants to grow which were important in the Degasi crew’s survival. In general, though their lore is boring, the floaters are important in the Degasi crew’s survival, a meeting place for aurora survivors and the number one best place on the map.

The reaper is also probably the main food source for the dragon. The entrance to the lost river from the grand reef that also leads to a hole to the lava stone is covered in reaper skeletons.
If you are going to do these really cool tier list videos, I think the biomes and islands ranked would be really interesting. Maybe you could rank in in terms of story, lore, fauna/flora and importance (do you need to go there for anything important?) or something like that

I work in Marine Biology and just discovered this game. So I've been playing it to death. If anyone is curious, there are lots of real life science application of marine biology in this game and some that are just odd. One cool one are the cave and blood crawlers representative of the concept of "deep sea gigantism". Definitely worth looking up to get better insight on the context of same creatures.

The thing they all have in common is a tall and flat body type ideal for maneuvering in and out of vines quickly to escape. Much like real life Discus or Mono fish

The ones that don't make much sense are: The Mesmer(only the PDA glitch in the page on it, the hypnosis makes sense) The eyeye, where's it's mouth,?!? Also, in regards to the Ghost Leviathan, it is likely that the adult of the species found in the Northern Blood Kelp Zone (where Lifepod 2 is at) may have been responsible for the eventual demise of our poor friend Berkeley.
Warpers definitely were well placed, it’s also terrifying how their technology allows them to jam and interfere with radio signals, as well as NOT attacking the player once they are cured of Kharaa, as they were built specifically to hunt down and kill infected creatures once the Precursor’s knew they couldn’t do anything about the disease by that point and they would just have to wipe the planet until they could return. It’s also scary how much they speak and understand human speech, which implies their not only artificial but also in some regards slightly leaning towards more of sentient creatures rather than standard creatures even if not completely. Their cold and calculated which genuinely makes them awesome.
It's really not a bad thing there's a broad base of creatures whose purpose in the gzme is just to hang around and fill out the ecosystem of 4546b. I mean yeah we all love the peepers and sea emperors but having a few scavengers scuttle about, some extra small fish species, etc does a lot to make the place feel alive.
What do you mean exactly ? It's as if you think every creature needs to look physically the same to be able to coexist in the same area or ecosystem, well that's not the case on earth, not entirely anyway, and don't forget we are talking about a full water world, that has been infected, causing a huge biodiversity impact and changing the ecosystem and all it's adaptations, killing off certain creatures even thus leaving some biomes very much starving or at critical state. You can't really compare it to anything in real life or say that it doesn't make sense, it's not suppose to really belong, it's a broken dying or damaged ecosystem, that's the point of the game and what it is showing.

Did the developers ever add the rock puncher? I remember it was in the game at one point, it used to spawn behind and around the Aurora. But it’s not on the list.
Theory: Lava larvas evolution was being constantly consumed by the sea dragon, so they're evolution changed so it would grow up because the larval stages size kept it
14:25 plus, the Dragon Leviathan are like, one of the few creatures in this game that appear nearly anthropomorphic, with hands and a head and movement that mimics creatures with a spine.

You can't really compare it to anything in real life or say that it doesn't make sense, it's not suppose to really belong, it's a broken dying or damaged ecosystem, that's the point of the game and what it is showing.

Did the developers ever add the rock puncher? I remember it was in the game at one point, it used to spawn behind and around the Aurora. But it’s not on the list.

Theory: Lava larvas evolution was being constantly consumed by the sea dragon, so they're evolution changed so it would grow up because the larval stages size kept it
Safe. They also kept higher from the cave floor to avoid lava lizards and to find more of the more common fish
