Dear ma'am, many ppl stay in rented house and government house, where they are not allowed to do lot of construction n tiling work n all. I am giving only practical alternative, which i have already used 6 month ago. I dont feel there is any need to change it till 2-3 years.

Just to contribute to the discussion, I guess installing tiles may not be very long lasting if the dampness is more. This is because we use PoP as a binding agent, which may become brittle and may give away in the form of lumps, creating gaps in between the tiles.
The long lasting solution would rather be to find the source of seepage.
