Thank you very much this is great! I truly appreciate how diverse you are in your choices for reading. Ive read few of the books you’ve talked about but only 2 are on your final top 10. Strongly agree with the god of small thing but strongly disagree with milkman.
This is the first time I've come across your channel. A job well done. I'm going to watch more of you. May I ask you if you have ever read "Chasing the Scream"? and if so, what your thoughts are on the solutions put forwards in this book?
Agree on Song of Solomon, the God of Small Things, A Horse Walks Into a Bar, Milkman and especially Ducks. Still need to read Light in August and Another Country. Crossing to Safety was good, but I don't count it a favourite. I tried A Brief History of Seven Killings, but didn't get very far. And I hated The Road , so I think I'll give Blood Meridian a miss. However, I just ordered The Yellow Wind.
Blood Meridian and The Road are very different. The Road is quite unusual in the bibliography of McCarthy, so unless you didn’t like the atmosphere or how brutal he is I would give others a go. However if brutality and gore was your concern than he might not be your type of writer.
Very good recommendations, I marked a few books, but I want to say, that I read your recommendations about indian books (like Mukherjee and Roy) so I wanted to ask if you have more book rec. regarding India because I loved all the other books? :))
I have not read many of the books on your list(s), so neither can agree nor not agree; I haven't made a list of my favourites of the last five years either (yet) - but Luiselli's Lost Childrens Archive I certainly would NOT "cut out" so easily.
@@WhatKamilReads Hahaha thank you! I tried reading "Normal People". It didn't work for me (I nearly made it to chapter 2). Then I tried watching the series. Clearly I'm a sucker for punishment...

Thank you a lot, that is great to hear. Oh and the world would be such a boring place if we all agreed, wouldn't it? ;-).

Hi Kamil, great selection! Have you watched Chernobyl produced by HBO? I thought it was well produced. Recommend it. Be well, Ana
No, I haven't yet but I've heard tons of great things about it, need to catch up one day, I'm just pretty bad with any series.

My heart was bleeding when I was doing that :)
Have you read any of Sally Rooney’s body of work? I want to know your review of her novel: Normal People & Conversations with Friends.
I read Conversation with friends and it was fine. Nothing spectacular but not terribly bad :)
