Sometimes it seems a shame to be efficient all the time. Why? Wouldn't it be better to get less done, and what we do become more fruitful and satisfying instead? Even as a retired elder I find myself rushing around to 'get things done' when there is no reason to rush - except when the chores are done, I get to sit and read or knit...but in the meantime I'm forgetting that doing my duty (chores) slowly and easily and with some thoughtful enjoyment is what my life IS. It might be that the relaxation could be built in, not a separate thing? Just saying...I do like your channel and enjoy your ideas too.

The same principles work to get the same amount done, but faster, so we have more time to just relax.

No TV in the master bedroom, but I do keep my phone on the bedside table because my kids are grown and out of the house, and I want to be available if they need me. But I don’t use my phone for social media, so no risk of just scrolling through it. This is not quite the same as your note on the mirror but sort of - I have a small round mirror that has a 14 1/4 inches in circumference that I attached to the dresser mirror. It’s exactly the size of my older son’s head when he was born. I did natural childbirth and my OB was skeptical that I’d be able to deliver a big baby. That mirror is my daily reminder that I can do ANYTHING.

so true! I'm guilty of putting things off because there are so many roadblocks to the chore. Definitely need to spend some time setting up my environment for success

Love the kitty in front of the fireplace. I have a little ranch house, but do have stations: Landing strip by front door, doubles as a mailing out, outgoing items station. Hostess cabinet drawers in dining area, tea/coffee/snack cart. The garage just went through a big clean/sort out, with designated areas. Our little space functions surprisingly well. T

      Oooh, I like the stations

@@MinimalistHome We just resorted the garage space to accommodate our online business packaging station. More items went( hurrah ) for the needed new space. Why did we not do this years ago?

We live in a tiny little house (600 sq ft).
We don't have a tv. We haven't had one for many, many years. Our bedroom is set up for sleep. We don't have "entertainment" or tech in the bedroom. Our entire house has been set up to minimize visual clutter (which really bothers me). I also don't like things on surfaces.
As far as moving about the rooms, all our rooms are small, so you don't have to move to get things. In terms of food, we don't keep junk food or processed foods in our home. We cook all meals at home and then pack lunches. I commute to the office & always pack a healthy lunch. It not only takes some of the "choices" out of my day, it helps with weight control. I am the same with clothing. I wear a uniform (slacks, blouse & blazer) to the office, which makes getting dressed easier and requires less choices to be made daily.

I LOVE this video! Entertaining and provides so much good information. I have been working so hard on improving the environmental design of our home. I use my phone as a smart alarm but I am going to see if I can find another one so I can banish my phone from the bedroom. I don't use it much at night but use it very much in the mornings, which is terrible and sets me up for a whole day of phone use. My screen time all day goes up noticeably when I use my phone first thing in the morning.
And the fact that you hide chocolates in a bag in the flour is the reason you are one of my favorite people. Seriously. I thought it was just me who had goodies squirreled away from the rest of the family. I think we could be friends.

When I was trying to switch to using rags for most spills instead of paper towels I put the paper towels way back under my sink (still around in case the cat vomits) and the rags in a basket by the counter; it made the switch so easy!

perfect for my actual try of finding a way to organise my Mountain of post it notes and for not having more post it notes then, :) but finding a system in fact to collect the ideas coming up, when we do another thing of course.. 🤪 ohhh my head makes me tired of my own self sometimes., it is positive creative and we can focus a lot sometimes but sometimes i feel a real challenge to focus still but i remind me that i could do so many things younger so i can (auto persuasion mood 😅), just finding the system working for me and in fact, i like your tips, sport helps me too when i do it first, even if i struggle to do anything focus even some days if i do not do sport or a bit of physical movement (even cleaning, shopping..) before all. the grouping things in a place of use, a vital need for me too :) and the desk, nothing nearly on, even if i will feel no way to focus .. i can even imagine fairy jumping on the post it piles if there is a way to see it.. 🤨🧐🤪 and i do not work for fairies yet .. one day maybe :) this day i will write you for sure 😝

Alas, I put my things where I can find them. The kids discover that unlike their own things, mine are findable. Then I can't find them any more. Does anyone else dream of locking every drawer, cabinet, and closet in the house? 😂

This probably seems nutty, but as I lose focus performing a task, I call my name in a stern voice, and I come right back to what I'm doing. Is that as strange as it sounds? Lol.
