Cine film digitally transferred to HD via Strom Video Gladesville.
Relive an era of the NSW North Coast when Alco Locomotives reigned supreme!
Circa 1970s and early 80s, these films are cuts from the editors floor, deemed not good enough for home movie display.
The things I most like about this short film of the North Coast is the scenery of which the trains traverse, and our ability to look into wagons from above and provide witness to what was carried by rail in this era. Goods include motor cars, live stock, timber, caravans, tractors etc. not to mention a splendid mix or period container wagons and flexi vans.
Of particular interest is the full length KB / KP parcel vans attached to the rear of freight trains. Why was this so? What was the type of working at the time providing mail vans on goods trains?
Furthermore we witness on some goods trains Guards Vans not at the rear of train, suggesting the train may be a pick up goods collecting wagons from remote sidings en route to its destination.
Be great for those with the know and experience to share information of North Coast freight train consists and loadings from this era.
Please be kind and share and like this video. There are still many, many more to follow.
Note this film contains numerous shots of the 2 x 45 class in reverse livery on goods trains.

Bloody great 👍 those freights in the 70s moved at a great pace.
I remember watching vicrail freight passing through the Geelong line in the same era and they seemed to be flat out 3 t classes hauling a long wheat and then a B class double headed with an S going back towards Melbourne with a heap of ford wagons ahhh the memories

I remember a video conversion shop near the corner of Monash Road and Victoria Rd near Gladesville some years back? Those were the days, when new cars and new farm machinery was hauled by train, only memories now. Great video, much enjoyed, especially the clip of the 45 class leading!😉
