DEFENDER OF THE CROWN is one of my favorite games from my childhood. I played it a lot on my Amiga 500, and a little bit on my Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️. The Atari ST version of this game is absolutely retrospectively brilliant 😺👍🕹️. A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
Remember my cousin taking his 1040ST downstairs. Hooking the 55cm TV up to it via SCART. All of a sudden he had a huge colour monitor, with clear sound, and even crisper graphics. And then he ran this game. What the hell.
Great vid! I was playing on one of my STs yesterday testing a scart lead adapter and a few new monitors I've acquired. Do you have Substation by any chance? I've got the original game disks, manual and art work sleeve, but the box is an odd size and was wondering if you knew of any other game boxes that were the same size. I'll have to try and get a list of my games collection together in case you wanted to borrow one for a future video.
Thanks a lot! If I remember Substation was around 1995... Whereas my usual limit for retro is 93. There are a few exceptions like Warcraft 2 and Diablo. But basically I don't have the same approach to games post 95. Thanks for your interest
@@RetroDream That's understandable, as I do a similar consideration with games that are pre and post Playstation 1 era (September 1995 in UK) so Substation was earlier than that, plus it feels more Wolfenstein 3D than "Doom clone." Just got to ask as I don't know anyone else with an original copy, let alone the box I'm missing.
Beautiful video, but the joust seems slightly off. You clicked early and missed the center of the shield but still unseated poor sir Cedric. Is this using a trainer?
Absolutely, this particular scene was shot with a trainer for the purpose of showing the maximum. Actual gameplay in normal mode was already part of a previous video on this channel.
This brings back memories.
REAL HARDWARE is the best way to fell it, not like emulation, keeps going to do it with more games on real hardware, thanks
Nice shots and all, but sorry that's not an Atari ST from 1986 in the video :) Looks like a 1989 STe to my old eyes.
Oh yes this specific one, absolutely!
But you get the idea :)

Such a majestic machine. Love the Atari ST
Beautiful game indeed! I remember the kids at the school talking about.
Sweet memories for us too
