We saw these guys in 2005 at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in August. They were THE BEST group... so impressive! I will always remember watching them. During OUR show, however, there was a dropped rifle! I know.. hard to believe but they made it seem a part of the show. VERY professional performers! LOVE THEM!
Yes, I was there too and remember the guy that dropped the rifle...after a moment of silence another guy marched in to hand him his rifle and scold him by pointing his finger and saying "no no"....we all thought it was part of the show!!! The best display ever, nobody has ever come close to these guys, simply amazing.
@jayrotsie Thats true. This was the standard issue rifle in the norwegian armed forces after WW2. It was later replaced by the AG-3 (Modified G3) wich is now beeing replaced by the HK416.
If there was any chance of getting in this corps I would really like to take it! It sux we havn't got a drillteam in the Netherlands... The best march/show corps in the netherlands isn't even in the army... I love your shows guys! respect!
Yet another great performance by the HMKG! What really pleases me about this group is the wide range of music they perform from year to year. The commentator mentions six "girls" in the band. Girls? I'm quite sure that he meant "women." The Edinburgh productions would be better without the commentator. Thanks for posting this!
@HMKGman1 I thought I recognized them. Those things are beauties to drill with. My JROTC used them before the Army took them and gave us crappy plastic M1903's.
Must remind everybody that this is what we do every year in Norway. Not everybody of course. But the soul and heart what you see is what we stand for. United for Norway and the K.
The Garand M-1 is great for drill competitions, handier than the M-14. For precision/fancy drill, we used 1903 Springfields, which were better balanced than the M-1, and easier to toss up for the Queen Anne Salute>
well my dear german friend, i believe that you are totally right when you are saying that our dear norwegian friends are far better than our german drill teams. and yes. we would be called nazis if we would do this. and i believe for myself that our bundeswehr has not the right to exist, according to the actual right constitution of germany.
do you know the name of the march they were singing at the end?? i love HMKG. iam very proud of our german drillteams and musiccorps but i have to say that norwegian military is quite better than the german because they have their own tradition. we germans cant do something like that, everybody would call us Nazi Germany again.
this friend of me also told me that the bundeswehr would be really nothing compared to other armies like the american or french or norwegian or british (okay...nearly every army -.-) which backs the fact that the bundeswehr wheter is a army nor is a militia...which is very irritating to me. a sad but true fact. for my german side in me. or just a simple fact for my korean side in me. well...it is idly to start a fight about true facts....*sob* 5 stars for HMKG!!!!
This will always bring a smile on my face 'cus I as so fortunate to be a part of this remarkable company... HMKG '05 forever :-D
HMKG has been beyond great at every military tattoo:)

We saw them in driving rain in 01--sound was deadened as you can imagine! Still awesome.
Im glad you like it.
You have no Idea how long time it takes to prepare those little pieces of art.
It's worth it though.
