Always look forward to your video's. I was actually interested in purchasing their f22 and putting a turbine that i have laying around in it. I opted out because of 2 things. For 1. Its over priced for what it is. 2. When i made mention to bring the price down, i was hit with a crap ton of comments from one of the representatives of bananna acting like i was wrong to say that... We can get comparable foam models for about $500.00 cheaper and come with smoke system installed. Winking at you HSD. Them coming at you the way they did ultimately made up my mind to never spend another dime on anything they are selling.
Please don’t take this wrong, but you losing your B1 was exactly what I did. So to see an experience pilot like you have problems helps the rest of us. Had a zero wind day, so no wind to help slow down, so I got out of the throttle just as I was making my final turn and deployed my flaps. As soon as I saw the wing dip I knew what about to happen. But mine didn’t make it. Long story, but I had another one that had a failure on maiden, so I’m piecing them together. Showing that process on my channel.

Thanks for the amazing content as always John, to be honest you’re one of two reviewers I watch anymore simply because you’re very careful and methodical in your reviews and created a top notch scoring system. We need more people like you John. Honesty is big in this small hobby. Thank you! Next, I’m shocked at how much drama this jet has stirred, which seems to center around the company distributing it. I give credit to X-Fly for listening to customers and delivering a B1, it’s not perfect but they’re learning. I’m happy to hear banana hobby is changing but going forward based on their response to your first video they lost me as a customer. I read the whole thing and it’s appalling, but shows their true colors. Every plane I’ve purchased from them in the past has been frustrating to own, especially in the long term as electronics fail prematurely.
I remember commenting even way back during the drama, that XFly is doing honestly quite well as a designer/manufacturer especially this early in their age as a company; and it really sucked that BH was the one putting the stain on them for something that they were as least attempting to fix on their end.
I have B1 V1 with over 200 flights. Out of my 27 planes of verious manufacturers, the B1 is one of my favorites to fly. My only problem in the beginning was needed to add CA to wheel clips so the wheels wouldn't fall off just like other models have. The wheels are softer than other models out of the box for sure. Never tried to fly it from grass, so I can't say how it would do. It's such an elegant plane to fly and brings a crowd for sure to watch it. A lot of TH-camrs have seen mine fly, and it's on a bunch of their videos. It flies very easily and forgiving, again no mods on mine at all, except bypassed stock gyro and still just regular AS3X. A work horse of a plane. Again never had any issues at all with mine.
That's so weird, ours flew from a rough patch of pavement and we never had any issues with the wheel clips. Just the wheels being awful but that's pretty normal for most model aircraft.

@5:00 Speaking of accelerated stalls, I managed to recover from a nasty one last week with an F-16 at low altitude. Pretty proud of that one. Regardless of past problems, Banana is making a comeback and I plan to support them with the Bone and the 105mm F-22 this year. I also supported FMS with the Super Scorpion and will buy from Motion later on this year. We MUST keep as many of these companies in business as possible. A monopoly will be terrible for us buyers. Price and quality wise. We are entering a golden age of RC model production and we must keep the push for supplier diversity, and airframe quality / durability going.
Don't support a company blindly. They should be earning your money. They aren't entitled to it. But if you enjoy what BH offers, absolutely buy from them. They're one of the only places to get certain aircraft!

Next year I will by a Sebart Avanti 90mm EDF, then when I have it dominated convert it to my first turbine. Or convert the 105mm F-22 into turbine. Haven't decided yet. Depends on the airframe quality.
Great video. Have had issues with bh myself and the customer service sucked as did the quality of the models I have purchased. Especially the f4u corsair with wing fold. It’s cost me so much money to get it to a somewhat flyable condition I am afraid to fly it, so it sits on a shelf

No idea how fast it goes, we're not really worried about arbitrary speed numbers here. It does fly pretty well if you know what its limitations are though!
Perhaps because he’s reviewing a V1 here, there’s some difference between Jon’s example and others. In our club members’ and at least one other reviewer’s V2 experience, the V2 B-1 does NOT go nose-heavy with wings swept as stated in Jon’s vid and as one would naturally expect. I suspect that X-fly has now actually over-compensated the wing tip weights, as the B-1 now goes TAIL-heavy with wings swept, thus requiring approx 10mm DOWN trim mix with wing sweep. Also know that the thrust is barely adequate for grass ops.
Oh, that's neat. Good to know. Not sure since we don't have V2, but hey, since BH wouldn't send one we had to fly what we had - which was V1. As far as grass operations go, you should reference our LG comments and cross-reference them to BH's "your makeshift runway isn't good enough for the B-1" response. Doubtful that the jet was designed to fly from grass at all if the wheel bogies get jammed from dirt accumulating on a paved runway.
You fly well. I appreciate the knowledge imparted in the review. It actually makes me want one. I can give a tip, maybe you know it, maybe you don't. In an aggravated stall where you're trying to recover with opposite aileron...... The opposite aileron guarantees it going to tuck and roll away from the top aileron. You have to neutralize the aileron, get the nose down THEN gently try to pull out. Top aileron in a turn will cause a tuck away from that aileron. GA pilots are killing themselves at an alarming rate because they haven't been taught this.
That's the gyro doing that - which is the only real downside to a gyro. It makes stalls worse and there's not much you can do about it if you want the stability when you're, you know, not stalling lol

I made my decision to purchase this jet SOLELY on the Two Brothers RC review. I fully respect the FULL TRUTH about the jet. That means showcasing ALL its strengths and flaws. Hey, Banana Hobby. Get a grip, you and your rep's face are all over and entrenched in our industry. Do the right thing, take it on the chin like a man, make the corrections and move on. I can't make it more clear than that.

Question for you....I'm more into the modeling side of flying, and I've found, the old saying bigger is better!! So would you, if you could make it bigger and fix the issues you found. a twin 80 or 90 size would add size enough to adjust placement of servos and better all around, obviously flight times would be affected but with a 5 + min flight time more power and a better fit and finish sounds like a good trade. Your opinions plz

i have my eye on the Banana Hobby SU-47, and ive seen all the Old reviews on it. It appears to me that other than the ideal Thrust to weight ( as the stock system is underpowered) people dont really understand how to setup CG and Center of Lift on a FWD aircraft. currently all they have is the ARF model and im curious on putting spektrum in it. Could you possibly be interested in getting ahold of one from them and reviewing it?
Everyone we've talked to says that thing is a huge project and isn't really worth it unless you put a ton of effort into it. We'd love one but not with the amount of work required at the price point being offered.
I have a fms integral that burned up the main connection board on the fifth flight, it straight up melted. I emailed and called and got told they wouldn’t replace it. Any recommendations on what to do?

I have bought 4 planes from BH. only one has had no issues at all. the Xfly buiness jet which has also been one of the best RC planes I have personally ever flown. I also got the little l39 64 at the same time as the buisness jet.. which was a good flying jet on my first 3 flights . the nose gear failed. which wasn't sooooo bad... it was the ESC cutting in and out that doomed the plane. over all BH planes are always sketchy.
Not sure if it did or not, we haven't had a chance to fly V2 yet. Doubt we'll fly it on the gyro it comes with either - there's no reason to do it for us.
once the wing sweep quits ....trash it .....they accidently glue it in the fuselage and you destroy the fuselage trying to get it out. bye bye banana, never again.

Banana Hobby has always been a goofy company that struggled with things; mainly back in the day overly complex product and difficulty stocking parts. But them trying to call you a redditor over this review is a new low. Like how childish of whatever product coordinator or media intern that was! Who wants to back up that kind of mentality?

I bought the B1 and will never buy again from Banana Hobby. Hab an issue with flaps not stowing when wings retract. Called costumer service. There fix. I don't know how to fly.

We buy for 2 reasons: 1 the plane flies super. 2 we just really want a particular model of the plane and we will buy it even if it is not perfect.

So would you, if you could make it bigger and fix the issues you found. a twin 80 or 90 size would add size enough to adjust placement of servos and better all around, obviously flight times would be affected but with a 5 + min flight time more power and a better fit and finish sounds like a good trade. i have my eye on the Banana Hobby SU-47, and ive seen all the Old reviews on it. It appears to me that other than the ideal Thrust to weight ( as the stock system is underpowered) people dont really understand how to setup CG and Center of Lift on a FWD aircraft. currently all they have is the ARF model and im curious on putting spektrum in it. Could you possibly be interested in getting ahold of one from them and reviewing it?
Everyone we've talked to says that thing is a huge project and isn't really worth it unless you put a ton of effort into it. We'd love one but not with the amount of work required at the price point being offered.
@TwoBrosRC the ARF is only like 140 i believe. The RTF was 400 but they only have the ARF avaliable anymore. And understandable

Jeesh, i paused the video on the letter from BH. They really got the wrong aproach if you ask me. Why not just try to improve instead of going on full attack mode.😮
They attacked many people that had issues with this plane.
I have bought 4 planes from BH. only one has had no issues at all. the Xfly buiness jet which has also been one of the best RC planes I have personally ever flown. I also got the little l39 64 at the same time as the buisness jet.. which was a good flying jet on my first 3 flights . the nose gear failed. which wasn't sooooo bad... it was the ESC cutting in and out that doomed the plane. over all BH planes are always sketchy.
V2 gyro fixed the bypass. Sad to see it's performance. No other real fixes from Banana or Xfly. Had to pay for all my v2 adjustments. 😢
Not sure if it did or not, we haven't had a chance to fly V2 yet. Doubt we'll fly it on the gyro it comes with either - there's no reason to do it for us.

To be fair, BH is a distributor, not a manufacturer. They don't exactly control the quality of what a company like XFly creates.

I bought the B1 and will never buy again from Banana Hobby. Hab an issue with flaps not stowing when wings retract. Called costumer service. There fix. I don't know how to fly.
