I beg my parents to stop getting unnecessary plastic but they clearly don’t care. But I will not stop and then I’ll take steps further to solve this problem which I strongly believe is possible for anyone to do.
Great job! The younger generation do not know or can feel the difference of plastic chemical exposure. They didn't see the boom of breast cancer and testicular cancer from plastic being microwaved in the early 80s 90s and even more items are sold as 'safe' to mic...I had to educate a client who only mice her meals in the plastic containers who got a kidney clot. Other clients have severe IBS, autism like symptoms, undiagnosed conditions that ruin their lives. I struggle myself with products that saw 'other fragrances'/special spices, or looking up the word means a slew of 'other things'
Hi, I suffer with IBS too but never really thought that usage of plastic products containing these chemicals could be a contributor to this. Could you please elaborate on that?
Cosmetic chemist here. To truly avoid BPA & phthalates, avoid heating food in plastic, avoid products with fragrance that come into contact with skin, avoid perfumes & body sprays, avoid all PVC products including clothing, reduce use of certain cosmetics and hairspray (some contain plastic polymers), store liquid fatty/acidic food items in glass ceramic or metal, reduce consumption of canned foods as they have a plastic lining inside, use chemically made salt as most sea salt contain micro plastic unfortunately. These are best ways to reduce plastic from entering your body. To check if your personal care products have phthalates, look for "fragrance" on the label ingredients. P.S. I don't manufacture products with phthalates!
People can make the choice to not buy plastic and reduce waste by eliminating a huge majority of food products, but ultimately these videos are aimed at civilians who aren’t responsible for the waste or toxins being created and better time would be spent contacting politicians to enact policies to ban these chemicals
Funny how I was in Egypt for over two weeks and I never felt better, my tummy bloating went away, etc...I was eating a ton of food but it was all unpackaged, fresh and healthy. Come back to USA and bam! Tummy is upset again! I avoid all processed food but it's challenging to avoid all plastic packaging. We do not have many bulk or zero waste stores where I live.
It takes less energy to recycle plastic than glass which means reduced carbon emissions. Since that is the big issue for climate change that tends to be the focus
@@stevemiller9880 the problem is they only recycle about 10% of plastics. If it was so easy then why haven't they been doing it. Instead we have miles of garage floating in our oceans. Almost every creature on our planet has plastics inside us. Glass is not a detriment to our eco systems
Do you know what's pathetic? The people who will more likely watch this video are those who have educated themselves on the harmful effects of plastics, while the non-watchers are most likely think this video is exaggerating the effects and could be a hoax.
We just keep peddling faster, hoping that our civilization's flying machine is in flight, not freefall. But the ground is rushing toward us, and the craft was never sound. - Paraphrase of Daniel Quinn's Ishmael
One important takeaway here is phthalates are everywhere and using organic products doesn't ensure that it's free from phthalates unless they test every batch for possible contamination from the manufacturing process.
Why hasn’t there been more demand for change? So many people care and worry about it. The US allows what other countries ban. It’s so difficult to know what’s really in our food and other products we use daily 😢
How come no one seems to mention where they go once they're washed down the drain? I bet these chemicals accumulate in our water supply which would defeat the concept of avoidance of packaging ultimately. They probably recirculate to be ingested at a later time in tap water and whatnot even if you avoid packaging... 🤔🤨
but food containers are often "food grade" plastic that are microwave safe and dishwasher safe... if this weren't the case, perhaps the government ought to cancel the use of these deceptive labels...
A 2007 study found that higher levels of phthalates detected in the urine of adult males was associated with increased waist circumference and insulin resistance. Weirdly, not all soft plastic contains phthalates. Most plastic wraps, water bottles, and food containers are phthalate-free.

Anyone notice how rare glass bottles have become over the past 5 years? It is getting worse instead of better

So the answer is easy stop pumping oil and making plastic
Yes in that order. Stop pumping oil and make plastics.
Sad that they had to add up the salary of people who die, in order to convince $$ to care.

What about water that comes in plastic bottles? Are they already bad or can the water be used if transfered to glass containers?
