@@charlened7043 Hi, hello, I missed my Philippine history very much. I love that subject. Thanks for your comment. I used to teach this subject in high school in the '80s. @@salreal4479 Are you an indigenous Filipino? And has been educated? I am against the doctrine of discovery or discovery doctrine. But what can we do about it now? The Doctrine of Discovery was promulgated by European monarchies in order to legitimize the colonization of lands outside of Europe. Between the mid-fifteenth century and the mid-twentieth century, this idea allowed European entities to seize lands inhabited by indigenous peoples under the guise of discovery. In 1494, the Treaty of Tordesillas declared that only non-Christian lands could be colonized under the Doctrine of Discovery. Today, I'm here in the Central desert of Australia, working with the indigenous people who still have hatred towards the white people who "discovered" or colonized their land. For 18 years now, I feel for them, but it got to embrace what's good for the future. The best thing to do is to "discover" how the indigenous Filipino can be self-sustainable in this present time.
When you go to the wet market to buy “Bangus”/ Milkfish, you can ask the seller to make it boneless so that it’s easier to eat. Milkfish is full of small bones.
Wow! You are now being noticed by the 10 million overseas Filipino Workers. Another month you will be hitting 100k subscribers! Living and learning local! You are both humble and good hearted people! God bless and good luck!

You can also ask the fish vendor to slice the fish for you, and remove the fins as well. Just to save time in preparing the fish at home. For fish adobo, we usually fry the fish a bit first, before mixing it with the adobo sauce, then continue cooking the adobo. Looks good, you've done a good job! Stay safe, guys! Regards from Guam!
I live in California. I was in El Nido on March 2019 and came back again in Feb 2020. Right now really bored quarantined at home :( If I knew I would be in a lockdown I would prefer to be in El Nido. Love your videos and I am very jealous of you :) . I love Filipino food and last night I cooked my favorite Bicol express. Easy to cook and very tasty. I cook it with pork belly or chicken thigh, not sure if you can cook that with fish though. Enjoy your quarantine.
It’s nice to see you going to Market even it’s lockdown there’s a lot to buy, fresh fish Bangus is really delicious, it’s cheap there you buy vegetables, fruits and a lot of cooking ingredients for more than $20 dollars, here you can just buy fish around two pieces and a few veggies for that price,I love the quietness, the beach, especially when you walk and show the distance from your place to the market it’s clean and serene, and you mentioned that you rent only for $20 dollars a day, where is the place, please let me know, after the lockdown we will go there.. Try the Sinigang na Bangus it’s 🤤, Take care, be safe, from San Francisco with Love ❤️

Whenever you cook adobo again, try to sautee the onion, garlic and the fish then add the soy sauce mix with bay leaves. Simmer and add just a little bit of water. Simmer for a few minutes, add sugar to taste. Add vinegar next just to counter the sweetness. Last because it will evaporate quickly. Lastly, add a little bit of cornstarch to thicken the sauce so it will not look soupy. It taste good when the fish is placed on top of the rice with the adobo sauce also. Yummy! By the way, love the beach scenery. Water is clear wish you can swim huh!
Sorry but adobo is a menu called only for meat or chicken when it comes to fish we usually called it 'paksiw' but the same way of cooking and ingredients. That's only my own beleived i think soo....😅😅😅

the beach background while you were walking at the start of the video was pure bliss. also fish markets tend to be busier in the early morning when fishermen bring their catch in.
when i cook fish adobo, i usually fry the fish first to remove the slightly fish taste, and also you can add ginger to your adobo to remove that fishy taste. . you can ask the fish vendor to do boneless bangus if you want free of charge, also that fish is very spiny and lots of bones so be very careful in chewing it. if some fish bone stuck in your throat best advise is not to drink water, better roll a ball of rice and try to swallow as much as you can WIHTOUT CHEW THE RICE. it will facilitate the clog fish bone in your throat, some try banana, but mouthful of rice will do the magic.... and fan fact some old granny tradition they will get a cat to rub there paws in your neck or throat to remove your fish bone, psychological approach in ancient times hahaha. enjoy your stay . be safe.
Its incredible how just for the 1st time cooking it, the adobo fish. I never knew about fish adobo and i am pinoy, but they did it right. I am impressed. Also they did it without the whole black pepper. They have that chef touch. And wow i hear the rooster crow in the background, the calm blue waters beach, the wine, the sun, the food. Paradise is the Philippines! Mabuhat!
Ampalaya is bitter so tone it down by soaking in water with salt. Then cook it with beaten eggs and onions. Add the egg after around 10 mins of sauteeing the ampalaya with onions. Find a way to store fish and veggies so you won’t have to go back to the market so often :) enjoy! You are blessed to be breathing in fresh air and getting vitamin D sunshine . Hello carol and David. That a nice start of your blog. Awesome beach, calm water and nice blue water with awesome islands in the background. Thanks. You are now a real Pinoy shopper. A teaspoon of sugar is good, and yes the sauce to garnish the rice. Happy eating. You both should write Filipino cook book.
from where im from here in Cebu, the red chillies you used for the fish is what we call "siling atsal" we use them to remove the smell of the meat be it pork, chicken or fish. although there are some would use ginger to remove the fishy smell which it does help. the green chillies are more spicy which we call in bisaya "siling espada" that also compliments when cooking fish. I admire you guys for trying dishes which is new to you for making what you can out of what you can buy in the market. Be safe always.
Great to see yall still have that positive attitude. Awesome job on the adobo, now try another simple dish.."sinigang" also known as sour soup. Stay safe & keep it up!!
Omgosh love your videos guys! Keep it going! I’m from the Bay Area, California US and I was in El Nido in November 2019 with my friends and you’ve definitely gave me many nostalgic memories walking to downtown El Nido. If I was quarantined I would rather be in the islands of the Philippines. Best tip I can give you guys for the vegetable “Ampalaya” which we have dish called “ Ginisang Ampalaya “ which has many health benefits. It’s a bitter melon known to help lower blood sugar. This is really great for breakfast, just dice the Ampalaya, minced with some garlic add salt and pepper. Scramble 2 eggs, 1 whole tomato diced, and sautéed with a half diced onions. Add some sautéed shrimp and it takes the next level up over some rice! Bam! You’ll have yourself an amazing healthy breakfast! I used to hate this vegetable as a kid but as I grew up I began understand that health is the first wealth! You guys take care and be safe!
All time Filipino Favourite adobo!!!!you can also cook "adobong kangkong" next time. That's a very tasty " fish adobo" you have cooked but just be extra careful with the bones. With that bitter gourd, you can fry it with scrambled eggs but try not to over cook it. Great cooking skills guys! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Your cooking of Filipino food is improving guys. Wow, you got a soft spoken beautiful girl. From what part of Brazil is Carol was born and raised, because I used to roam the places of Brazil since I'm a sailor?
it was fun watching your video how you live here in our country, I am from Cebu City and I enjoy cooking, maybe you can try some of the recipes i do with the things you bought: for the ampalaya or bitter gourd: cut the ampalaya in half lngthwise then remove the seeds, wash then slice it thinly you will need garlic onions the basic spice for our food saute the garlic and onion in oil until golden brown then add the ampalaya add salt to taste and a tsp of sugar once the gourd is done beat 2 eggs then add it on the gourd remove from heat and you have your ginisang ampalaya for the bangus or milkfish: 1. bistik bangus ( garlic, onion, calamansi) always slice it in slant position you can fry it after frying you can make the sauce sauce: mix a Tabespoon of soy sauce, 1 tsp of sugar, pepper, and cornstarch 1 cup of water then mix the sauce in the sauce pan saute garlic and onion then add the sauce mixture until it thickens then add your fried bangus you can add salt to taste as well.. enjoy your bistik bangus 2. sinigang na bangus or fish stew in sour sauce: boil water in pot with tomatoes and onions about( 3 tomotoes and 1 onion) once it boils add salt to taste then add the fish after boiling you can add kangkong and string beans, and also add sinigang mix ( you can buyit in grocery store) if sinigang mix is not available you can squiz in around 5 kalamansi once klamansi is added turn off the heat immediately enjoy your bangus sinigang 3. for vegetables: slice the eggplants , string beans , you can also add pumpkin, okra, and malungay leaves, sliced tomatoes alamang( shrimp paste you can buy it in the market usually pink in color ), garlic onion, ginger: saute ginger, garlic onions , then add tomoatoes until it forms a paste then add t tablespoons of alamang saute a little bit more then add all your vegetables except for the malunggay leaves, stirfry then add a little water to cook the vegetables add a little salt to taste be careful adding salt as the alamang is already salty , you can add a tsp of sugar if you like to neutralize the taste of all the vegetables once everything is cooked you have your pinakbet. for a creameir taste you can add coconut milk to the vegetables afte all veggies are cooked boil once then turn off the heat and you have your ginataang pinakbet. I hope you can try these recipes iam sure you will like it its very filipino food :-) enjoy your stay here in the Philippines .. stay safe..

You're literally walking in paradise. So peaceful! Be careful with ampalaya you might be surprise with the taste. It's very bitter so if you want to eat it you must remove the seeds and soak it in water with salt to lessen the bitter taste. It may be bitter but it is tolerable and ampalaya is very very healthy.
Wow all healthy food! Ampalaya is a bitter vegetable. Make sure when you slice it and take off seeds, soak in water and salt. Try and search for recipes. As a kid I didn't like it at all but now it is one of my favorite vegetables. You can add that if you make pinakbet.

when i cook fish adobo, i usually fry the fish first to remove the slightly fish taste, and also you can add ginger to your adobo to remove that fishy taste. . you can ask the fish vendor to do boneless bangus if you want free of charge, also that fish is very spiny and lots of bones so be very careful in chewing it. if some fish bone stuck in your throat best advise is not to drink water, better roll a ball of rice and try to swallow as much as you can WIHTOUT CHEW THE RICE. it will facilitate the clog fish bone in your throat, some try banana, but mouthful of rice will do the magic.... and fan fact some old granny tradition they will get a cat to rub there paws in your neck or throat to remove your fish bone, psychological approach in ancient times hahaha. enjoy your stay . be safe.
The fish should be half fried when you cook fish adobo.
Mabuhat!
I like you how you narrate your situation in El Nido, no drama just saying the way it is. You'll
go far and loaded with your following. Keep on.
I love your simple living videos
Looks like a great meal, I am really enjoying these vlogs thank you for sharing

Adobo is every Filipino's favorite. I'm happy you loved it.
Cook ampalaya with scrambled eggs paired with rice, its dupe!
Not possible since they don't eat eggs
It’s very good you are eating all organic vegetables, fruits and fresh fish. You are in the best place for quarantine. You can make vegetable lumpia. It is carrots, Baguio beans potato and cabbage. You can wrap it and put in the freezer. You will fry when you wanted to eat frozen more crispy.
Wonderful vegetables. Beautiful music. Great relaxing video.

I have not tried fish adobo, I didn't know that it is possible to have this dish in fish [ Bangus].. I may try this in the future. I do admire you both, living simple life in the Philippines and you seem to enjoy the lockdown. Stay safe and God bless.

New subscriber here! I really enjoy watching your blogs, guys. Really authentic! No drama. Just pure reality.
You have to fry the fish first. 🙂 And add ginger in the sauce. So that the smell of fish will go away.
They are simple couple..love it..
you should try tortang talong(egglant omelette) so easy and yummy :)
from where im from here in Cebu, the red chillies you used for the fish is what we call "siling atsal" we use them to remove the smell of the meat be it pork, chicken or fish. although there are some would use ginger to remove the fishy smell which it does help. the green chillies are more spicy which we call in bisaya "siling espada" that also compliments when cooking fish.
Simplicity of life at its finest, live life and make the most out of it
You can also do adobong string beans (sitaw) or adobong kangkong 😊
Adobong sitaw 👍

finally....been waiting for our vlog...
it was fun watching your video how you live here in our country, I am from Cebu City and I enjoy cooking, maybe you can try some of the recipes i do with the things you bought:
for the ampalaya or bitter gourd:
cut the ampalaya in half lngthwise then remove the seeds, wash then slice it thinly
you will need garlic onions the basic spice for our food
saute the garlic and onion in oil until golden brown then add the ampalaya add salt to taste and a tsp of sugar once the gourd is done beat 2 eggs then add it on the gourd remove from heat and you have your ginisang ampalaya
for the bangus or milkfish:
1. bistik bangus ( garlic,onion, calamansi)
always slice it in slant position
you can fry it after frying you can make the sauce
sauce: mix a Tabespoon of soy sauce, 1 tsp of sugar, pepper, and cornstarch 1 cup of water then mix the sauce in the sauce pan saute garlic and onion then add the sauce mixture until it thickens then add your fried bangus you can add salt to taste as well.. enjoy your bistik bangus
2. sinigang na bangus or fish stew in sour sauce:
boil water in pot with tomatoes and onions about( 3 tomotoes and 1 onion) once it boils add salt to taste
then add the fish after boiling you can add kangkong and string beans, and also add sinigang mix ( you can buyit in grocery store) if sinigang mix is not available you can squiz in around 5 kalamansi once klamansi is added turn off the heat immediately enjoy your bangus sinigang
3. for vegetables:
slice the eggplants , string beans , you can also add pumpkin, okra, and malungay leaves, sliced tomatoes
alamang( shrimp paste you can buy it in the market usually pink in color ), garlic onion, ginger:
saute ginger, garlic onions , then add tomoatoes until it forms a paste then add t tablespoons of alamang saute a little bit more then add all your vegetables except for the malunggay leaves, stirfry then add a little water to cook the vegetables add a little salt to taste be careful adding salt as the alamang is already salty , you can add a tsp of sugar if you like to neutralize the taste of all the vegetables once everything is cooked you have your pinakbet.
for a creameir taste you can add coconut milk to the vegetables afte all veggies are cooked boil once then turn off the heat and you have your ginataang pinakbet.
I hope you can try these recipes iam sure you will like it its very filipino food :-)
enjoy your stay here in the Philippines .. stay safe..
Make ampalaya omelet! my favorite breakfast dish :)
Hi,I’m new subscriber here...I’m Filipino but I work here in Qatar for 8yrs in Brazilian Family I learned how to cooked Brazilian rice,Blackbeans,Bregadeiro,Pão de Quejo, carrot cake and I been in Brazil 3x already...that’s why I subscribe because I saw Brazilian and Philippines Flags together..
You're literally walking in paradise. So peaceful!
Be careful with ampalaya you might be surprise with the taste. It's very bitter so if you want to eat it you must remove the seeds and soak it in water with salt to lessen the bitter taste. It may be bitter but it is tolerable and ampalaya is very very healthy.
after soaking the ampalaya, squeze it to lessen the bitterness, then saute' it with garlic and onion. Finally add the scramble egg to give more taste.
Filipino kids dont like ampalaya
Wow all healthy food! Ampalaya is a bitter vegetable. Make sure when you slice it and take off seeds, soak in water and salt. Try and search for recipes. As a kid I didn't like it at all but now it is one of my favorite vegetables. You can add that if you make pinakbet.
I think you forgot to add vinegar with fish adobo or I just didn’t see it 😁
One of my favorite part is seeing the very beautiful and empty beach🏝. Carol did the most important thing to put the sauce on the rice - we call that adobo rice😊
Blunt knives make life difficult. Can you ask the owner for new or additional knives?
Dude you should know knives can be sharpened, do you buy a new one every two months or something? 😅
My favourite vlogger very simple and real
You guys are amazing. For more cooking recipes. I recommend PANLASANG PINOY for more Filipino dishes. Keep vlogging. New subbies here. Stay safe!
All day I watched your videos.
I think this is what people need to watch in pandemic times since videos are focus on beautiful nature with calm voice from the blogger.
Careful with the bones...….next time have them debone it for you! :)
Was enjoying watching Miss Carol cooked the adobo fish. Next time u cook fish adobo, marinate first the fish with the soy sauce, garlic, ground black pepper, a teaspoon of brown sugar and 1 pc of calamansi. Marinate it in 15 minutes. Then cook it in a low heat.
Filipinos include the head of the bangus 😂
Only to add flavor to the soup. At the end of the meal, they all go to the pet cat. lol
Thank you for doing it raw and simple, unlike most travel vloggers.
