  • Discover how the electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique works, from the set-up in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to the physics behind the diffraction pattern formation and the information that the technique provides.
    Using animated sketches, we explain the basics of the technique, such as the highly tilted sample geometry, we look at how Bragg diffraction results in Kikuchi patterns and we show how the technique can be integrated with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) to give high precision information about phases, orientations and chemistry on the nanoscale.
