I'm already pondering what to use for my GCP! Are you looking for the most creative GCP that's practical for real life use or just the most creative and possible outrageously silly GCP?
If the result changes on the contour lines, the stocks in the mine fields should change, right? because the program passes the contour lines over the calculated heights. perhaps the program had trouble perceiving because this land has a flat structure?
I have tested this same land with dozens of flights. I have tried the same thing other places. The results are different if the land is smooth but without GCPs it is always off.
@@GM6DroneMapping Thank you for the quick reply . I guess I must have missed the part you mentioned flat land somewhere in the video. English is not my native language. Thank you for taking your time to answer.
@@muhammedeminpeker7352 the video is the short version of 6 months of research. I did learn a lot from it but in the end, its only 1 type of topography. I'm sure steep terrain will produce a closer but still inaccurate result.
I have one question in particular. That flight without GCPs were RTK or Conventional GPS? I see that you have a drone with 3 antennas and thought it might be RTK on board.
@@arnaudlrc you are safe if you plan to get a phantom 4 rtk. When I said hold only, I am referring to certain drones use rtk to hold a better position in the air but do not geo-tag images with rtk gps.
@@arnaudlrc I dont think so but some people love them. I have heard that you still need Ground Control Points. Personally, I prefer making GCPs. I trust the math more.
Sorry to not understand. Do the contour lines represent the route of the drone ? With GCP I can see the contour lines are more or less the same. Without GCP it is not the case. That’s why I do not understand the démonstration that GCP is useless. Thanks for the feedback.
No, the contours lines show the direction of the land when looking at altitude change. For example, the contour will show you the direction the water will drain off the land when it rains. email me if you need further explanation, Im happy to help.

Great short video explaining the importance of GCPs! What was the methodology used for obtaining accurate GCPs?
Thank you. We used Emlid Reach and post processed data from a nearby CORS tower
Very helpful
Great information! Thanks Troy!
Thanks brother.
Thanks for your explaining.
You are very welcome
Was that Pix4D?
Can we do the same topographic contour lines in Agisoft?
Thanks!
That was Agisoft.

You do whatever you want. I think we are looking for anything original, inventive, even outrageously silly.

Just GPS. The RTK on the M600 is for hold only and does not geotag the images.
@@GM6DroneMapping what do you mean "for hold only"? I am currently pondering between buying a phantom 4 with or without RTK

At some point we did but that data is not a part of the results in this video.
