  • With diesel’s future cloudy in the U.S. hybrid technology looks to be the go-to technology for families going green. If only it were less expensive.

Even at higher gas prices, I can't imagine the added cost, weight, packaging compromises, complexity, and future concerns over repairs are worth the fuel savings.

+Thiago Maciel Yes, which was not an option given all the stuff I had to carry. Not uncommon in class though.

A little pricey but nice. I'm a fuel miser so I would definitely choose this over the naturally aspirated version. I think Toyota could get 30 mpg at the expense of not much horsepower.

So many cars have all black interiors lately. Don't they show every speck of lint and trash?

+J Segal Not really, I find light colored fabrics are worse over time since they show dirt and stains, especially if you have kids or have an unpaved drive.

Yes they do, and those soft touch dash boards that everyone MUST HAVE now days, collect more dust, lint, and fuz than a lint roller as they age in hotter climates. It's really a pain to maintain black on black interior imo

+youngblood23rb I don't see black interiors as an issue. The tan ones in Nissan is pretty hideous imo but in certain models it looks alright. I just don't dig it I guess lol

This vehicle, in gas-only trim, is a perfectly efficient and capable one for the class. Nice interior, performs well enough. It's just missing any sense of passion or lasting style. The toyota creases and plastic shrouds here and there won't age well.

Ducati Ltwin Absolutely. More roomy, same mpg. I don't have image problems.

    No way Toyota
I'll take a Sorento SXL with shitty mileage and more features for $10,000 less
and use the money I saved on a nice vacation🤗

+Guillermo D As long as you don't mind the bad resale value, go for it... at least this will keep a good portion of it's value for a while.

+Ronald f-ing mcdonalds Actually the Korean vehicles have improved resale in recent years. And considering the low initial price, even a lower PERCENTAGE residual results in fewer dollars of depreciation vs a vehicle this expensive.

+Guillermo D Or Hyundai Tucson as well. Toyota is rated as the second most reliable car brand in the world, Lexus being the first as always. Hyundai/Kia aren't anywhere near it. I guess you could argue that even if the Kia's transmission completely fails in 10 years, a new transmission will probably be less than $10k, so the savings are justifiable.
Toyota does benefit from brand name though...even if they charge more than their competitors for a similar model people will still buy it because of their reputation (and the ability to sell the car for more than $10k even after 12 years of use).
