If this half mile section cost 6 million, the whole wall at minimum will cost 23.4 billion. So its not done cheaper. They raised enough for less than 2 miles in a year, so it will take them 1000 years to get enough funding.

If some want to crowd fund and build their own wall on their own land, good for them, but we know if people can't cross by land, they'll head to the Rio Grande and cross there. Meanwhile, the ports are clogged with people seeking asylum while trade goods are stuck for hours, including produce which ends up spoiling since crossings used to be quick and refrigeration wasn't necessary. We need to be working with Mexico to find solutions rather than trying to bully them. Trump likes creating chaos so he can sit back and watch.

Americans have had to do things themselves in the past and not rely on the government. If we waited for the government to come around we will be waiting a long time.
Its taken them a year to raise 22 million. It cost them 6 million dollars to put up this half mile section. That means the wall will cost 24 billion dollars and will take 1000 years to get the funding. But sure, will have to wait a long time for the government to do it.
