  • Nothing worse than having a cold shower curtain press up against you in the warm shower. Various laws of physics cause this to happen. This video will show you how to install 2 hooks, shower curtain weights and use a retractable key holder to keep the shower curtain in place during your shower. Total cost is about $35.00 and takes less than 10 minutes to install.
You will be using hooks that stick to the sidewall and connect a Key-Bak retractable key holder reel to one end, then when you are in the shower and close the curtain you grab the split ring at the end of the reel cord, stretch it across the shower curtain and attach to the hook on the opposite sidewall.
The shower magnets listed below really add to the effect of making your shower larger by keeping the curtain back.
My shower was 48" wide, so if you have a wider shower like a 60" I suggest using 2 Retractable Key Holder listed below and mount each reel to the sidewall of the shower and connect the 2 split rings at the end of the reels once you are in the shower using a mini carabiner like this one:

Here is what you need (links to Amazon):
3M Command Medium Wire Toggle Hooks

Shower Curtain Magnets (Note: These are the replacement for the 1st magnets I used) These are far superior and are completely encased in silicone and are a much more powerful magnet. I used a set of 4 for a 48" wide opening and the 71" wide curtain listed below.

    Retractable Key Holder
    Key-Bak Super 48 HD 8oz.
NOTE: This is for a 48" wide shower. For wider showers use 2 of them (36" or 48") as described above to span your shower opening width.

Other Items if you need them:
Shower Curtain - (Note: This curtain has performed well and has been washed 4 times so far in the washing machine. DO NOT use chlorine bleach. I used Oxi-Clean non-chlorine bleach powder. Pink mildew loves the shower environment and the bottom 4" of the curtain is its favorite habitat. I suggest soaking the bottom 4"-6" of the curtain in White Distilled Vinegar prior to washing. I used a large plastic beer mug and put the bottom of the curtain inside and placed in the sink then poured the vinegar in and let set for 20 minutes. Rinsed with water then ran through the washing machine.

    Shower Curtain Hooks
    Amazer Stainless Steel Ball Hooks

Installation Instructions: Select a spot on each side of shower wall adjacent to the edge of the curtain, about halfway from the top and bottom of curtain or about waist high. Follow the directions included with 3M Command Hooks. Be sure to install the hook facing up.
Attach the shower curtain magnets evenly along the bottom of the curtain.
Using the belt clip on the back of the Key-Bak hang it from the hook on the opposite side of the shower valve wall.
Thats it! Once you step into the shower just pull the ring on the Key-Bak cord and attach it to the hook on the other side!
Enjoy all the extra space in your shower and no cold, clingy curtain.

Fantastic idea! This has been driving me insane lately and the weights don't keep the shower curtain from billowing inwards. Gonna try this as soon as possible. Thanks so much!

I added a waterproof machine washable liner with magnet on the inside of the shower curb and the polyester fabric curtain on the outside of the curb with magnets. The KeyBack holds them both back.

Try The ArcLiner Curved Shower Liner. Works perfectly to stop blow-in and gives you way more space!

Not recommend for curb type shower (my curb is just 2”). Too many parts for my taste. I wash my shower curtain monthly and removing hooks is enough.

I have read reviews on the weights and they are a waste of money. Magnets are becoming to rare and expensive so they skimp on the size of the magnets and the assembly of the device. Also, instead of buying 2 of the $15 keyholders, I will just attach it to a 2 foot string and the carabiner to the other end. I can reach that far and most shower are only 68" wide. I used to have this problem in my tub but all it took was a heavy cloth curtain on the outside and the thinner plastic curtain on the inside of the tub. The heavier curtain stopped the breeze from the hot water rising up from the shower and sucking the air in.

well stated. i ordered some magnets but only got 6 pieces that apparently mate to one another. i might have to get another order of weights.

The magnet pairs can get mixed up, and the polarity of the magnets if not matched will cause them to repel or stick together weakly. After washing them in the sink with some bleach they get mixed up and I have to switch them around to find the mates polarity-wise.

I've been working at a body shop for a bit now and extra tips I learned was if you're painting the door, it's better to take off the mirror and belt molding (the trim at the bottom of the window) for a better paint job in the end. The mirror can get in the way, and if you're unlucky, the clear coat could stick in that gap between the door and the belt molding.

What about air coming from the bottom- that's where a lot people problem is the water gets out cuz the shower curtian is blowing - I had a heck of of time finding a decent shower curtian 78 long the way the have it listed

    • @michaelmooney7396
      @michaelmooney7396  ปีที่แล้ว

That is important. I was able to get the curtain with magnets to just barely touch the bottom of the shower pan behind the curb by adjusting the height of the rod.

OK cool but what if you have an old style real bathroom!!! Where you gotta have like 6 to 8 curtains in place to go around the whole Circumference of the tub??????

Hello Jason, I actually have one of those. A claw foot tub with a shower. It has a hoop that holds the curtain which closes all the way around the tub. It is a polyester fabric curtain and has magnets sewn into the hem. These magnets stick well to the old cast iron tub and I have no issues with billowing in and clinging to your body.
