Hurricane Beryl Death Toll: 9 Texans killed in storm; millions still left in the dark

- Beryl is now responsible for 10 deaths in Texas and Louisiana. Nine of those deaths were in the Houston area. Clean-up is going to take a very long time, and there's no real timeline for full power restoration.

85 Degrees?? More like 103 degrees. That was the temp inside of my home at 5pm yesterday because I do not have a generator! Why is the news only ever talking about Houston and Centerpoint customers? What about the rest of us that live north of Houston who have Entergy, whom is saying we will not have power until the 14th. And unlike Houston, we have no cooling centers in our area, nowhere giving ice and no food shelters. Not one Entergy truck has been sighted, so they have yet to even survey damage in any area except "The Woodlands who naturally is being restored first".
The State, The Media and even Local officials are not saying or doing anything to help people. Where can we get ice for an ice chest so we can have sandwiches and cool drinks while we camp outside and wait a week to only be told it will be another week before power is restored. Where can we get tarps to cover the areas of roof that were blown off? In previous Hurricanes counties would give exact Locations for people to go to get ice, tarps, water, food etc.
FEMA has not been sent here so that is prob why no tarps ice etc . Also I just was thinking where is red cross they arent government but seem to only show if the government is there ...very interesting
I understand what u r saying. I'm over by Cleveland. They say the 14th but haven't seen any attempts to fix the damage. No food or nothing. Stores have no ice and keep running out of gas. No phone signal either

Why aren't power lines underground? This is 3rd world and texan gulf coast gets hurricanes every year.

Why can`t the United States and other quote FIRST WORLD countries stop dragging their feet on curbing their practices of causing global warming. As bad as it is in Texas it was a lot worse in the Grenadines and they contribute little to zero impact on global warming.

Solar panels can still become damaged from hurricanes.
However I give you a bit of credit since some more expensive ones can do a much better job at resistance. You would also need a sturdy roof, or a good field to plop them in.
If anything. Generators that utilized solar to charge would be a great back up. Maybe kinda pricey but better overall since you would have to install panels that might get ripped away if you can’t afford the best quality.
I’d rather the generator.
Centerpoint Don't have the reaources to restore 80% back in day! They need help from other entities!
I live in austin and we didn’t have internet for a few hours because a spectrum tower was recked.

I went through hurricane Hugo and I know exactly what these people are going through. Now I say any storm with 100 mile an hour winds or more I evacuate.

City and county must step in to help Centerpoint. Open up some cooling centers. Why are there no cooling centers open? This is only a category 1 hurricane. What is the taxes going for if these city leaders are not prepared in the fourth largest metropolitan in the USA?

I understand it was a tropical storm when it came ashore. Thank god. The damage and loss of life could have been much worse. Big difference between 75 and 150 mph winds.
No it wasn't...it was considered a cat 1...however, my area right on the coast had winds clocked at 100 mph with 120 gusts...so tech it was a cat 2....

It seems when a hurricane hits Texas or Louisiana they have the potential to get hit pretty hard regardless of the hurricane's category strength because there is a good chance the hurricane is going to go curve inland and cover a wide spread area of sever weather for that state as the storm moves and fades off into the Midwest going north eastward .
Why did the officials not make arrangements, plans and preparations sooner for any recovery efforts that may have been left behind in it's wake?
It is better to be prepared and have not much happen giving you a chance to save those plans for next time, than finding yourself completely unprepared for a disaster.
