I used a Yamaha DX7 and an Oberheim OBXA when I wrote the music for this song. Added several layers of keyboards including a PPG when we recorded it back in 1985. Actually wrote the music on a Casiotone portable keyboard since I was building a house in Malibu that year and had no electricity! So used a Battery operated keyboard to write all the chords! Most of the guys in the band did not like this song as it was not too rock n roll. Hey you did a good job on my keyboard parts. BTW, many of my friends in the Beatles camp supported my efforts to help get musician paid for their creative work. Sir Paul's favorite song, John Lennon's Tribute concert, and lots of good stories with George Harrison from those old days before I joined Fortune and wrote most of the music for their first album. Led Zeppelin jam, toured with Rod Stewart even did a concert for King Charles!

True story, i heard this song for the first time on a radio show called…in search of midnight, in my high school years , while living in south America. For some reason they never said the bands name, after 20 years ,and now living in the states, i was searching this song by the name Stacey. Without knowing the bands name until i found it , Fortune was the name of the band, im a bass player myself, and i play along to this song whenever i got the chance, the story here is that , this is the kind of song you will never forget. Kudos

Iam trying to recreate a vocal effect for a clients song ..do u still remember what processors and techniques u used to create such nice tone? .love from nepal
When I first wrote this song it was called 'Tracy' but Larry, my songwriting partner, changed the title to 'Stacy' which worked better! One of the advantages of writing stuff on those early Casiotones was it had one of the first drum machine patches built in and an instant drummer to play along! Certainly helped me write this song. Casiotone MT 40 I think it was. Enjoyed watching this again and the way you add the strings on the top keyboard. Much like we all used to do playing church organs which is what I did in my teenage years! Ta ta for now!

And one day they asked John Lennon to write a song for them to record. Well, John did write that song which he then delivered the song on cassette to my friend Billy's house where his Mom then put the cassette inside a drawer by the front door. BUT she forgot to tell Billy that John had dropped by and Billy never knew about this cassette! Until months later when John asked Billy did he get the song and Billy said "No'. Turns out the song was "Ticket to ride" which the Merseybeats never did record! Many of my friends in the Beatles camp have so many great stories to tell from this amazing era!

Beautiful cover, I love Fortune. They deserved more success, but we’ve got 3 great albums to listen to from the band. We would’ve gotten more but sadly singer Larry Greene has recently passed away😢

The bridge pickup was a bit damaged and I replaced for the Seymour Parallel Axxis, but the guitar itself it's in mint condition. Probably the previous owner kept in case and never played anymore!
