    MT48 Mic Preamps have significantly more gain available than any other comparable interface. For example, Shure SM7B normally requires 100% input gain from my apollo, whereas the Neumann sounds way louder & clearer at 50-60% gain levels. It’s a beast 🔥

    For all the people saying it's overpriced it's actually quite the opposite it's a far cheaper alternative for people who want mastering quality AD/DA converters and a more than capable interface while also adding a bunch of other features. If you think this is expensive go look at Lynx, Aurora, or Antelopes AD/DA converters and you'll see what im talking about and they offer far less

    If a company who didn’t necessarily make themselves legendary with their high end products (a Focusrite, MOTU, Behringer, etc.) released an interface with this exact I/O, a touch screen, “world class pre’s” (which these are), and a couple other ground breaking features, what would THEIR price have to be? Quality aside, how could anyone else pull this off? It’s like…. The Twin has been the king of this exact spot forever and Neumann have made it objectively BETTER in some shockingly useful ways. If I had an option to add just a few of these features to my twin, I would easily pay the difference in cost between these two. Some features, 10% of the owners care about but 90% of the features here are exactly what someone like myself has dreamt of being in one box for ages. As a company, they saw an opening that only they could’ve taken… brilliant thinking. I think they will sell a crap ton of these. It’s priced really well… but not for all of course. Not even for me personally lol … but I can def tell a fine wine when I taste it and this one is gonna be Yuhhhhhmm 🎉 to be honest, I’m most excited to see how this impacts the new bar. In 7 years, products very similar to this will be the new budget 2i2 because of these types of product releases today. Bravo fellas.

      People in my circles were certainly talking about the Anubis before. But this has some key differences that make way more sense for more users. Anubis is much more of a networked audio device, and this MT 48 is much more of a general audio interface. But the high quality preamps and converters are in both devices.

      That’s what brands like Neumann do. Pay influencers to push their products like crack.

      @@kingpazIf I’m taking a Toyota over a Benz then I’m taking the RME Babyface Pro FS over the Neumann all day! Yes, this may have superior “converters” but here are some of my concerns. For one: it has a slow touch screen response , #2 it has a touch screen, #3 latency is trash, #4 not as reliable longterm but the features are dope though but I’m all about reliability and functionality over luxury. RME gives you what you need just a good audio interface overall..while the Neumann it’s about features and luxury. Different strokes for different folks. RME has great drivers. If not the best in the game for over 23 years already crazy but that’s a fact.

  • @mphatic
    @mphatic ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks Reid appreciate your expose on the unit looks good...the converters and headphone Amps plus all the other features make this a bargain!...
    I can't believe I waited this long for a better audio mousetrap...trust Neumann to get it right..quality bit of kit that you can also take anywhere so you can keep on working or writing anywhere...already ordered and will get it in a few days...
    This is the Audio interface I have been waiting for....
    Not to mention that with the ADAT and AES67 interface allows you to have virtually as many channels as you want including daisy chaining 2 MT48s together and connecting remotely using CAT5/6......to any location virtually that means breakout boxes in other rooms or around any facility with both
    Looking forward to having the sound quality that is usually reserved for Converters costing way more than $2K...this baby punches up to and above some serious interfaces that cost upto $7K UK Pounds....
    Prosumer only gets you so far...but this Mastering Level quality will enable better Mix / Mastering - the results alone should be spectacular when combined with the right processing tools....
    As long as Neuman and MT keep developing on this platform which is what they plan to do this is the interface of choice right now!
    For me this unit /platform looks so easy to build on and grow with...I look forward to the new firmware updates already on the way to offer more features and also celebrate the fact that this platform is fairly well future proofed with its integrated AES67 and other features...
    Some notes:
    ADAT interfaces have Wordclock Sync built into their timing channels which means if you have a device needing a WC you can get that from the ADAT port...just send the output to a device with a BNC for any other device that need a BNC WC
    AES67 is continuing to develop
    Neumann have already announced some updates that are on the way...including ATMOS/Dolby enablement over AES67
    Quality gear doesn't mean anything without a good set of ears...as some have pointed out you can make great music on anything - however the real point is - do you need to have an improved sound quality and therefore improved turnaround times - at all stages of the project..this MT48 will enable people to get great mixes and record faster and easier - saving time..time is the most valuable commodity we all tend to ignore...
    I can already tell from all the examples on the Net that I will get:
    1. Superior recording therefore better quality to work on in any DAW
    2. Improved decision making due to being able to commit and also have a non committed Audio track to work with.
    3. Improved Mixes and Masters due to all of the above
    4. A big plus I can take this anywhere and keep working even in a Hotel room or in an RV or in a different space which can inspire new ideas and creativity...
    5. Snapshot saves mean more complex setups can be easily recalled for different recording situations - recallable at the touch of a button...
    6. The touch screen is going to improve over time as Neumann roll out updates
    7. Firmware and Software updates forthcoming
    8. Built in DSP that enables the Artist to record without using up any other DSP and causing additional latency or bottlenecks...
    I could just keep going...but imho this is a ground breaking product for Neumann and one that will become a new benchmark!
    People tend to forget that Merging Technologies and Neumann combined with all the expertise across the Sennheiser product range including all the K&H Speakers et al has been combined into an easy to use product that is gonna be a joy to use....and listen to...
    Thanks Neumann! you knocked it outta the park! and thanks Reid for the showcase - these things take time and expertise to put together - great job!

    This review is basically an advertisement in my opinion as it doesn't have side-by-side comparison of an average interface, like a Focusrite, same signal recorded, shown on its own, in mix raw without EQ/compression/saturation and in mix heavily saturated and compressed (as it usually brings out some not so evident harshness). So does it really makes a huge difference compared to a market average.

    Such a beautiful, well designed product. Blows my mind that the UI has such noticeable latency. IMHO the very first iPhone solved this. I don't understand how anyone signed off on a premium device in today's world, especially in an industry so sensitive to the idea of latency, that has visible latency to every interaction. Unbelievable.
    I want to want one, but that latency hurts my soul.

    • @ReidStefanMusic
      @ReidStefanMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It worked surprisingly well for me considering I’m a puppet with fabric hands! Also the included Neumann app is another excellent way to adjust your settings 👍

    • @ArielTavori
      @ArielTavori ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ReidStefanMusic No doubt, it looks amazing and I take for granted that the components and sound quality are top shelf. I just don't understand why it has more visual latency than some devices made 20+ years ago? You say in the video that it feels responsive, but you can clearly be seen second-guessing some of your inputs because they take so long to register that you don't seem to be sure if you successfully pushed the button. This is obvious in other videos from other channels too. It's like the whole UI runs at 15fps with a half a second delay. Bizarre.
      And TBH, while I'm nitpicking, why a device at this price point can't afford to have a screen with as many pixels as a $50 Android phone?.. And then there's that fan..? Some very odd decisions were made here...

    • @ReidStefanMusic
      @ReidStefanMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ArielTavori my fabric puppet hands are not the best real-world example on camera. See the Karra video I linked in the description for footage of a human touching the MT48 it’s very responsive

    • @ArielTavori
      @ArielTavori ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ReidStefanMusic I appreciate the response and what you are saying, but you seem to be missing my point. The latency I'm referring to is visible on knob turns as well, and is clearly visible on every single interaction including the Produce Like A Pro video straight from the Neumann booth at NAMM. I'm really not sure how it's not obvious to you? Every single time anyone interacts with this thing, they have time to pull their hand away from it, (and often hesitate because they themselves aren't sure it registered) before it finally responds. It's not subtle, and I wouldn't consider it acceptable on a $50 Behringer device.

    In minute 7:24 you said we can record reverb effect in a separate channel, while MT48 user manual states the following: (reverb is for monitoring purposes only, i.e. to give singers and musicians a more inspiring sound in their headphones. Reverb is not recorded, not even in the PostFX), so how can we record reverb without the need for DAW reverb?
    Second question please, do you have any measurements of latency time form the MT48 to headphone if I applied reverb FX? Thank you.

    Hi bro! I'm wondering about what you said at [1:48] "you can by-pass those internal preamps by just using the quarter-inch jack instead of the XLR jack". Are you sure of that?
    I recently watched a video where a guy said [7:54] "It is not possible to by-pass the internal pre-amps regardless of which input you use". th-cam.com/video/lCHkijaj5SI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=S1gJqtWCxd1q4VSC
    Who is correct? one cannot have a signal with the pre-amps by-passed?
    Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

    greetings from Spain and congratulations on the channel!!!🎉
    very good interface. but it has the same problem as the anubis. they are very very difficult to use because of their complexity. they are unintuitive and require a steep learning curve. and as the saying goes, time is gold !!!😂😂

      You can’t if you’re using an XLR cable, but if you Connect a line level source using the quarter inch part of the combo jack it bypasses the built-in preamps and only uses the converters and DSP
