Agreed. Even if Ronnie loses, it was the right choice, all things considered. It can backfire mentally and in crowd dynamics regardless of the red going or going just with risky swerve.

The red didn't go in the end anyway the commentary were just making assumptions. Credit to the Ref. for staying calm and composed through Ronnie's moaning.
Worst loss for Stephen Hendry vs Marcus Campbell who whitewashed 9-0. Hendry cried and wet his knickers THE GOAT RONNIE O"SULLIVAN has never been whitewashed 9-0 🐐
I cant wait to do this with my dad next time we play in our local club where finding a level table is often a bonus and after a few pints, its gonna be a laugh. Thing is though it was on its spot fine in the end, if you can see the red surely that was why you cried about it not being on its spot to start with. So what if it went on it easy the last time, if its on the spot properly its on it. Pot the red.
Can someone explain to me, a non-snooker player, what that was about? Why were they putting the black ball on that particular point? Why were they placing the black ball at all? Why did it have to go right there on that exact spot?
In snooker, only the red balls stay in the pocket after being potted. The other colors come back and are placed on dedicated spots on the table. The black has its dedicated spot in the particular section of the table where it was blocking the red ball that Ronnie was hoping to pot.
😮 You didn't show the part where Ronnie refused to shake her hand at the end of the session 😮 (And she got the black back on its spot but the red was blocked anyway. Nasty boy!)
This goes to show how easily most people can get fooled by a headline. This is the worst act of sportsmanship from Ronnie (not the best). It's just Ronnie being a twat as always. He was horrible to the ref and made her job very difficult on the day. He was even bullying her during the seating situation when he angrily told her to chill out. Ronnie is such a dick. I am not rooting for him anymore
Nope not the guy that stopped the other guy choking on his tongue in a football game or anything like this, the greatest sportsmanship in all sports is Ronnie O'Sullivan playing safe off a red.

Players often sit back down while the ref takes a moment to deal with a tricky re-spotting. Some of them do it automatically, then they're up again thirty seconds later.
In the 1994 World Championship Final, Hendry was leading 16-15, and was ahead in the 32nd frame. He was given a foul and a free ball after Jimmy White's shot, but refused the free ball, even though it practically guaranteed him a 17-15 lead. Ironically, Hendry went on to lose that frame, but ended up winning the match 18-17. I think the commentators really need to stop kissing Ronnie's arse when talking about the "greatest sportsmanship I've ever seen".
It was actually rolling the other way, to block the red. There's a fine line between sportsmanship and gamesmanship and Ronnie's on the wrong side of it.

If the black is on the spot and the red is pot-able, why didn't Ronnie take the shot? I'm clearly missing something

I don't get it, if the black was on the spot and he could pot the red, why didn't he? Especially after all that trouble to get the black on it's spot. Can someone please explain?
The opponent cared, but he had enough respect for Ronnie to trust his judgement. As for the question of sportsmanship, Ronnie's attitude is that referee or not, the physical reality of the position governed his thinking. He didn't believe he was entitled to the advantage, even if it was within the rules. That's sportsmanship.

100% correct. He didn't want the black on its spot. It was a bad positional shot from Ronnie. He was testing the ref. There was loads of space for the black as can be seen.
Respect to Neil, but, he needed to stop talking there and let us hear the discussion between the referee and Ronnie. Inexperience in the commentary box in this moment.
I watched this live and before he played the shot, the ref said to him "its your choice" and Ronnie replied to her "I know its my choice", she looked annoyed by his reply and kinda rolled her eyes, I thought Ronnie was being quite rude to her.
What I don’t understand is that the black naturally wants to roll onto its spot - so why was the ref trying to place it off its spot? Did she have a few quid on Ronnie?
There's no sportsmanship from ronnie here. After barraking the ref to put the black off the spot, he refused to pot. It was him who forced her to wrongly spot the black. The ref had it right the first time, he had no pot available. It was likely he would go on to lose the match.
Without rolling, it is uncertain if it's on or not. But on the last time the ref placed it, it is definitely on(even the commentators said it). But Ronnie just refused to take advantage of it because he thought the black is off from it's spot and the ref refused to respot it again. While asking the ref to reconfirm the placement numerous times may not be the most sportsman like thing to do, not beating your your oppenent with a ref mistake surely is.

I thought Ronnie was just throwing one of his tantrums at first. With the score this close, ronnie’s decision to play safe could literally have changed the outcome of the match
I was watching in work without audio so I was thinking ronnie wasn’t happy that the wasn’t putting it in the right position
Yeah this is not what was happening. Watch again with audio.
Sportsmanship? Where was the sportsmanship. ?
Buggered if I know!!!
i love the over exaggerated comment “the greatest bit of sportsmanship in any sport” 😂. Most of us didn’t even understand it! It’s not like Di Canio catching the football against Everton or a batsman walking before being given out by the umpire.
@@djpeekay25 I’m not sure what’s hard to get? He could’ve made the red after the ball was set correctly and he didn’t feel right about it so he played safe
Come on the 🚀 you got this tonight 💯👍 I be watching the match not long now
He acted like a complete weapon towards the referee though
GOAT
The red didn't go in the end anyway the commentary were just making assumptions. Credit to the Ref. for staying calm and composed through Ronnie's moaning.
After one spotting, it did. He was not moaning. He was being incredibly fair.
@tetra 🤐🤐🤐🥱🥱🥱
You could have just conceded, Ron!
Worst loss for Stephen Hendry vs Marcus Campbell who whitewashed 9-0. Hendry cried and wet his knickers
THE GOAT RONNIE O"SULLIVAN has never been whitewashed 9-0 🐐
How is the black rocking _off_ its spot? If anything, that 'mini crater' should be keeping it on its spot.
Not sure the red was on to be honest.
I dont think it was
it wasnt but dont let the ronnie fan boys know that
@Jacko84-lg2lw Swerve? Lol
Side will throw the red and widen the angle, very rudimentary pool/snooker shot
I cant wait to do this with my dad next time we play in our local club where finding a level table is often a bonus and after a few pints, its gonna be a laugh. Thing is though it was on its spot fine in the end, if you can see the red surely that was why you cried about it not being on its spot to start with. So what if it went on it easy the last time, if its on the spot properly its on it. Pot the red.
Footballers take heed. This man is miles ahead of you, not only in talent and skill, but character and true sportsmanship.
Making ref nervous. Ronnie behave. You are not untouchable
Makes VAR look exciting!
😮 You didn't show the part where Ronnie refused to shake her hand at the end of the session 😮
(And she got the black back on its spot but the red was blocked anyway. Nasty boy!)
Because it wasn't end of match , no need to shake hands
Learn some basic rules first, then comment.

What I didn't understand was why he didn't just play safe 5 mins earlier if he didn't feel comfortable taking advantage
Why does Ronnie Cuball insist it's the ref's fault when he didn't adjust his ball correctly? If the referee did his job correctly.
You do know thats a SHE !
He passed the gentlemany act of 1874
Is the commentator is neil robertson ??
yep it is
Kudos to Ronnie, kudos to Stuart and even the ref. It is what is it...play the game.
She tried as best she coild. Then play on.
Well tbf this didn’t cost a life of a human being but I get your point
Think stopping someone choking isn’t really sportsmanship is it. Just humanity.
The red didn’t go anyway and the referee did nothing wrong
Think, think, think, Ronnie!
Should’ve brought someone out to measure the spot to make sure the mark was indeed still correct. Slate and cloth both settle for days and sometimes weeks after you set a table up
Table was reclothed before this match
@@ffrulezok cool sounds good bud Doesn’t matter if it was reclothed before Ray Reardon’s barmixtzfah or 30 seconds before you brush your teeth next Tuesday it takes 5 seconds to measure 12.75 inches from the top cushion. Let’s come out and verify next time an issue like this arises.
he always gives the referees a hard time 😂😂😂
Why did he go and sit back down? What did he think was going to happen
Ronnie does love a bit of drama.
@@aodhan2023cos he’s a 🛎️
Players often sit back down while the ref takes a moment to deal with a tricky re-spotting.
This might have cost RoS the 8th World title.
It was actually rolling the other way, to block the red. There's a fine line between sportsmanship and gamesmanship and Ronnie's on the wrong side of it.
The black kept rolling back to its correct spot. The red never went regardless.
OH YEAH RONNIE YEAH!
Sportmanship? Just giving the ref a hard time.
My thoughts exactly.
Exactly more like a bully . His attitude towards this ref has been terrible during this match. Telling her to chill . An older more experienced ref would probably warn him for his comments.
@GordonCockfield-js7gt the definition of a sado is you following my comments . I know you’re upset your hero is out but that’s not my fault. If any player behaved the way he did I’d say the same thing. As for Hendry v Marcus I don’t recall Stephen giving the ref a hard time. What did he do ?
@@amac1657 " I know you’re upset your hero is out but that’s not my fault" Is the self projected comment ever made on TH-cam of the highest order. @GordonCockfield-js7gt try reading your own message before saying anyone isn’t mature. At no point did I or anyone else mention Hendry a guy who retired years ago so I’m struggling to understand why you bring him up.
Can someone actually explain what is happening here? After sorting out the wobble on the black which appears to block the red, the ref is convinced the black is on the spot, and the red is therefore now pot-able. If the black is on the spot and the red is pot-able, why didn't Ronnie take the shot? I'm clearly missing something
Can someone explain?
You have listened to the clip, haven't you? It's pretty self explanatory
yeah, so basically ronnie wanted to pot the red but he looked up and witnessed Stuart saving a kitten from a tree, so therefore ronnie felt obliged to play a safety evidently gifting the frame to Stuart out of sheer kindness and recognition of stuarts heroic actions. hope this helped.

Got the feeling Ronnie got irritated with the referee who tried to accommodate all ways to settle the problem.
what kind of sportsmanship is this??? when referee says its on the spot and opponent does not care, then play the goddamn shot.

Oh Saint Ronald, what a noble gent you are. This one act of sportsmanship completely wipes out all your past sins of acting like a complete knobhead 🙄
The referee needs to stand firmly
Ronnie could've potted that red, might have had 2 turn it over with a touch right hand side but it wasn't hard to do!
I watched this live and before he played the shot, the ref said to him "its your choice" and Ronnie replied to her "I know its my choice", she looked annoyed by his reply and kinda rolled her eyes, I thought Ronnie was being quite rude to her.
Neil Robertson did very well in the commentary booth. However, can someone tell him to be quiet when the players are speaking to the referees.
What I don’t understand is that the black naturally wants to roll onto its spot - so why was the ref trying to place it off its spot?
Did she have a few quid on Ronnie?
Others would have potted that red for sure.
Superb all round
4:43 No its what makes Ronnie so Great!
Jesus if the commentary would shut up we could hear the players and ref!
Was it about sportmanship?
Congratulations to Bingham to put up with all the blah
Match Fixing at its finest
He should have just potted the red !!
There's no sportsmanship from ronnie here. After barraking the ref to put the black off the spot, he refused to pot. It was him who forced her to wrongly spot the black. The ref had it right the first time, he had no pot available. It was likely he would go on to lose the match.
No sportmaship here whatsoever. He just messed up his shot and tried to blame the ref. The black wasnt potable
BAN all phones in arena,, pisses me off
How on earth is this great sportmanship? Even without rolling off, the red was never on. He has unnecessarily bothered everyone involved.
Exactly. Sportsmanship my ar*e
Never on in a million years
"not beating your opponent with a ref mistake" is sportsmanship. No sir , its pragmatism since he knows the kind of ridicule he'd have received had he done so.@@cwk0505

I think Ronnie done the right thing
Well then this evens it up on that time he carried on in a frame when he clearly nudged balls with the rest...
Should've placed it, held it, then tapped the top with a pocketed ball to "seat" it.
Great idea. Make the dent worse.

A black ball rolling a bit and a player rightfully asking for this to be fixed... is "sportsmanship" ??
Look up the definition.
Such pitiful clickbait.
It is sportsmanship actually, they'd be players who'd take advantage of that situation
Well yes, since with the roll he could easily pot the red
he could have played the easy pot as it clearly went after the ref placed the black the final time... he chose to play the safety as he didn't want it to look as though he was taking advantage of the ref replacing the black multiple times... pretty obvious that its good sportsmanship from Ronnie... you're another one that needs to re-watch the video.
Nah, the sportsmanship part is where the red is finally pottable but plays safe instead.
Am I blind or something? It's rocking INTO the ideal path. The fact it was rocking was impeding the shot not helping it.
He's at a DISADVANTAGE if it rocks...
This is why snooker is so good
Could have potted the red but didn’t after the ball sat on the spot so why did he make the ref jump through all those hoops. I can’t imagine the ref being stunned by his class. “Why waste my time if you were going to refuse it anyway” more like.
Just don’t get it, looked like a power trip at times?
Far out all the armchair experts in the comment saying the red wasn't on anyway. Smfh.
Go and watch some tutorial videos about cue sport basics. As Robertson pointed out, an easy pot with a bit of side.
For all those that didn't see it, when the black was respotted he could pot it with side. When it was originally placed because of the black moving, it wasn't on. Ronnie didn't want to take advantage of the rule and then played safe. You all probably would have taken advantage of the rule. True sportsmanship! Good karma to come, Ronnie
