Hey I’ve watched all your videos of you fishing the cape fear River and I was wondering if you help me out with a few spots on the cape fear I can go bank fishing for cats. I’ve tried the stretch in Fayetteville and up at Erwin bridge and have had little luck.. one dink flathead and a few channels. But it seems like you catch sum hogs on the River and I’m hoping to get my first big flathead or blue this year. If you could give me some tips it would be much appreciated
Hey Kaylie, I actually fish those areas some. One of the biggest things this time of year to me is having fresh bait. Another is focusing on structure and reading the water. I catch a lot of fish in 2-4 fow at night in the upper stretches of the river. Look for a hole and position your baits above them in the moving water. The blues will usually come up in there to feed. For flatheads from the bank I’ve had some of my best luck on rising water fishing travel routes between feeding areas. I like to fish the main ledges and try and catch them on the move. As mentioned, this has worked best when the water is starting to rise. When we have levels like we do now I’ll look for heavy structure near moving water. If it looks snaggy then there is a good chance for some flatheads to be living up in there. Something else that works well for me in the upper cape fear is using a santee rig. Keeping your bait from falling down in the rocks seems to really increase your odds plus you don’t get snagged as often.
Thank you much appreciated went out last night at Erwin bridge and a buddy of mine caught a 30lb flathead on a small piece of brim tryna catch channels lol. I stayed out till midnight with live brim and live eel and had a few hits but no takes tho.
@@kaylieimberi495 yeah I bet. Have you gone to the end of Erwin park? That is all walkable and doesn’t require kayaking. There are three nice spots down that way. One you can get in the middle of the river on the rocks, another below a little rapid and another above it. There is a big bolder you will see there you can actually get on. Caught a lot of bait around it.
Good morning!incredible edition,:)
Thanks
Wow..... Would love to camp and fish the next morning with y'all....
You gonna actually cook next time?
Yes.. it should be a real camping trip.

@@kaylieimberi495 that’s a great fish! Bluegill is definitely my favorite bait on that stretch this time of year.
Yeah I was excited to see my first big flathead. Do you know of any spots accessible from the bank I could try
