Hey those look great! I love cedar siding! My dad makes hand split cedar shakes and shingles salvage logging in b.c. canada. He's been doing that almost 40 years already and is one of the only guys left in the bush doing it these days. (at age 71) Handmade is a dying trade.

Can’t wait for you to finish your shop. You were the very first woodworker video I’ve ever watched and you are the reason I fell in love with woodworking. Thank you so much. You saved my life. Literally. A story for another time. ❤️

That does look great, I know many people live the grey, but cedar is such a beautiful natural color

I love these kinds of shingles a lot. I am currently an architecture student and one of my current designs feature them mixed with metal paneling looks really good in the renderings. Can't wait to see your project completed man.

Great video. Covered all the details and tips in plain language. Planning to add cedar shingles to three gables on my home. Haven't installed these before, but I have descent skills and combined with this video I'm confident of a great result. Thanks.

It really did transform that building. Beautiful work.

This is looking great! The pure black trimming seemed like a bold choice at first (which is not a bad thing of itself) but now it forms a really nice contrasting frame around the natural wood colour. Great foresight.

Looks great, super jealous. An old Yankee trick I've seen is to take the story pole and mark it with your largest reveal, so in this case 6 1/4. You can then figure out where your transition points are and line up your story pole on an angle with each transition point and that will give you the precise location of each coarse. No math needed.

When I 1st saw we're doing side wall (that's what you're doing - did) I thought, DAMN! I wish i would have seen this while he was doing it! I spent my career roofing & framing. I'm 11 mins. into this and I said to myself, this young man did his homework! The mesh material is new to me, we used 1x4 for the air gap (on customs) and just laid them up on tracts. Anyone else watching this should pay attention to your words here. I couldn't have taught anyone better! Really I'm really enjoying watching you work! :) Carry on young stud!

Very good tutorial. It’s been a long time since I’ve worked with cedar shingles or shakes; this brought everything back to memory.

For once TH-cam suggestions helped me find a great channel. You do a great job explaining things without making videos too long. True “infotainment”.

In the installation instructions of Aquavent its written to put the vent with the blue side facing the wall.
