10 to 15% of U.S. prisoners are Muslim, and many of them had to fight to practice their faith behind bars. So how different is observing Islam while incarcerated? And what happens to their faith when new converts are released?

Islam is an expression that you believe in God alone and worship God without resorting to the priest, and we believe in Jesus, Moses, Muhammad, Abraham and all the prophets from the first Adam, so Islam is more widespread because it unites all the prophets and they all worship God alone

I reverted in 2012 while I was in prison in Georgia . I was released in 2015 and it has changed my life and has kept me from returning..Praise Allah!!!

you can’t base a whole religion off of the acts of individuals who aren’t even considered Muslims. People in jail are obviously there for a reason, but doesn’t mean over the course of your sentence you can’t change, believing in God and moral values is easy when you are penned in a jail and striving to leave and become the ideal person to leave, fwi there has been 5x the attacks of white supremisists who claim to be “Christian” than terrorists who claim to be “Muslim”.

when you see Inmates finding peace within themselves, that's when you know Islam is true
And yet they find it with every other religion, mediation and education. The difference is religion (including Islam) raises your chance of committing a crime in the first place, especially violent crime.
@renoxe it on numerous occasions has God either directly or simply order a genocide, it undeniably supports slavery, classism, racism, and sexism (all of which are good indicators and correlators for violent crime). It also states that no matter the actions or morals of an individual, as long as they believe they get into heaven - they only have to ask for forgiveness and they’ll be forgiven, there is no consequence other than for those that don’t follow the religion (ironically something that correlates with increased education and reduced crime rates). Also religion has been the cause of most murder in the past 2,000 years (likely even before) as people disagree over who’s god said what and why they’re the most peaceful.
@renoxe no, asking for forgiveness is a fairly universal idea - maybe not in your understanding but every Imam I’ve ever spoken to has said otherwise. Many disagree with the idea of hell.
And that should probably show at least some of the cracks and how this man made idea is so fragile and unrealistic.
In the modern day the most peaceful countries are atheist, no one has ever committed a crime in the name of atheism because there is no philosophy or belief there and while some evil people were atheists they acted on their own philosophies not atheism and many more have been religious.
The progress of secular values have allowed you to have the technology and rights you have now. Claims for any God always fall short and have never been convincing, the evidence is non-existent and the absurdity of it all is hilarious.

Quran 69:44-46 Allah said: “And if he [Muhammad] had fabricated against Us some of the sayings, We would certainly have seized him by the right hand, then We would certainly have CUT OFF HIS AORTA.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 4428 - “The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, “O Aishah! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel MY AORTA BEING CUT from that poison.”
At-Tabari, p. 124 - “The Messenger of God said during the illness from which he died - the mother of Bishr b. al-Bara had come in to visit him - “Umm Bishr, at this very moment I feel MY AORTA BEING SEVERED because of the food I ate with your son at Khaybar.”
The Arabic word translated as "aorta" in Surah 69, Ayah 46 is different from the word used in the hadeeth literature (e.g. Saheeh Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 713 & Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 39(.
The word translated as "aorta" in 69:46 is al-wateen, while the word used in the hadith literature is al-abhar. The entire argument has already crumbled - there is a difference in meaning between these words in the Arabic language.
The famous linguist Al-Fayrooz'abaadi in his famous dictionary al-Qaamoos Al-Muheet said:
والأبهر : الظهر وعرق فيه ووريد العنق والأكحل والكلية ، والوتين : عرق في القلب إذا انقطع مات صاحبه
Al-Abhar: the back and the vein in it and the vein in the neck, and akhal (vein running across the middle of the arm) and kidney. Al-Wateen: the vein in the heart, which if were cut off the person would die. (as reported by Burhaanudeen al-Biqai in his Nadhm ad-Durar fi Tanaasub al-Ayaat wal-Suwar)
Again, we see the clear distinction being made between al-abhar and al-wateen.

Ibn Muflih may Allaah have mercy upon him wrote, “The meaning of the verse that reads (what means): {…And Allaah will protect you from the people…} [Quran 5:67] is that Allaah protected the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, from being subject to people’s oppression, control, or power; this never happened. The intended meaning is that Allaah protected the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, from that which none other than him was protected. For instance, Jaabir may Allaah be pleased with him reported, “While the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was sleeping, a Bedouin came to him, and took his sword stealthily. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, woke up while the Bedouin was standing by his head, holding his unsheathed sword. He challenged him and said, 'Who will save you from me?' The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, replied: 'Allaah!' So he, sheathed it (i.e. the sword) and sat down. The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, did not punish him.” This is why some of the Companions who ate from the poisoned meat died from the effect of poison. The Jewish woman meant that if he, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was not a true Prophet of Allaah, he would die from the effect of the poison. In fact, he, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, lived normally for years after eating from that poisoned food. This Jewish woman did not kill him the way she wanted as she did with those who died immediately after eating the poisoned food. Allaah honored His Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, as usual and did not cause him to die from the effect of that poison immediately. Instead, he died of its effect after years so as to attain the refined status of martyrdom. In fact, there is no contradiction between the religious texts in this regard. In fact, to reconciliate between them by understanding them in the context of one another is better.” [Al-Aadaab Ash-Shar‘iyyah]
Hence, the Hadeeth means that this Jewish woman did not accomplish her objective of killing the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, immediately with that poison and that Allaah caused this poison to remain in the body of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, for years until he, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, died from its effect years after that incident so as to honor him with martyrdom. For further information, please refer to Fatwa 56186.
This explanation does not contradict the Jewish woman’s statement, ‘If you are a true prophet, then the poison would not harm you,’ since the immediate effect of poison is normally 'death'.
The Quran tells us that believers are tested. 33:11, 3:142, 29:2

No where does the Qur'an deny that Satan can possess His righteous servants. If Allah allows Satan to possess the individual then this is Allah's trial for His servant. That is all. It doesn't mean that Allah didn't have the power to save him. Allah's righteous servants will ultimately be successful by entering paradise in the next life. That does not mean that they can't suffer.
When Allah said that He would protect His righteous servants from Satan it is speaking about protection in an ultimate sense and that is from Satan's ability to misguide you.
As I said, Islam does not teach that Satan cannot affect the human being in any way. If that is the case, then what is the purpose of Satan's creation! Of course Satan could entice us, tempt us, harm us by possessing us, but he can't misguide us from Islam if we are sincere truth seeking Muslims. Satan cannot force us to be misguided. It is our free willed decision. That is how Satan cannot affect us. However, Satan could affect us by trying to tempt us to leave the straight path.

“Had he (Muhammad) invented lies concerning Us, We would have seized him by the right hand and severed his heart’s vein.” [Dawood’s translation]
“And if he had fabricated against Us some of the sayings, We would certainly have seized him by the right hand, then We would certainly have cut off his aorta.” [Shakir translation]
“And if he had invented false sayings concerning Us, We assuredly had taken him by the right hand and then severed his life-artery.” [Pickthall translation]
One of the greatest Islamic commentaries - Tafsir Jalalayn (on Quran 69:44-46):
“And had he, namely, the Prophet, fabricated any lies against Us, by communicating from Us that which We have not said, We would have assuredly seized him, We would have exacted vengeance (against him), as punishment, by the Right Hand, by (Our) strength and power; then We would have assuredly severed his life-artery, the aorta of the heart, a vein that connects with it, and which if severed results in that person’s death.”
This is where I also found Islam, in jail. This happens to most American black men that come into Islam. It always happens in the prisons just like it happened to me.

As-salāmu ʿalaykum, I reverted to Islam in 2017 before I got married. Came back to United States. Made a wrong choice in life. Never been in trouble in my life. Went to prison. Got closer to Allah by studying Islam by reading the entire Quran twice from front to back while I was away in prison. Meet a few heart warming Muslim brother's in prison. When I was released in 2018 I continued my faith as a Muslim. I'm still learning to this day alone. I wish to stay on the straight path. I wish that a Iman would teach me to be the best Muslim I can be. It's 2019, I still have nothing since I got out of prison. (No Vehicle, No Home, little money to my name, and most importantly I'm really far away from my wife that I love very much) I struggle to survive but I'm happy I have my faith in Allah and thank Allah everyday. Inshallah, May Allah guide me on the path to be a successful husband to support a family and to be with my wife again. 🙏🏻

the qur’an does not say to kill non believers. During the prophet muhammad’s time (pbuh) the muslims were being persecuted, tortured and opressed for being a muslim. The arab pagans at that time were called the Quraysh and they declared war on the muslims.
The first battle was calldd the battle of badr. This is the battle mentioned in the Qur’an that says to kill disbelievers. In islam there is no compulsion in religion. Prophet’s muhammad’s uncle (abu talib) wasn’t even a muslim when he died! but did they kill him? no.
Also these battles had strict rules that the muslim who were participating needed to follow.
These are the following rules: 1. “Do not kill any child, any woman, or any elder or sick person.” (Sunan Abu Dawud)
2. “Do not practice treachery or mutilation.(Al-Muwatta)
3. Do not uproot or burn palms or cut down fruitful trees.(Al-Muwatta)
4. Do not slaughter a sheep or a cow or a camel, except for food.” (Al-Muwatta)
5. “If one fights his brother, [he must] avoid striking the face, for God created him in the image of Adam.” (Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
6. “Do not kill the monks in monasteries, and do not kill those sitting in places of worship. (Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal)
7. “Do not destroy the villages and towns, do not spoil the cultivated fields and gardens, and do not slaughter the cattle.” (Sahih Bukhari; Sunan Abu Dawud)
8. “Do not wish for an encounter with the enemy; pray to God to grant you security; but when you [are forced to] encounter them, exercise patience.” (Sahih Muslim)
9. “No one may punish with fire except the Lord of Fire.” (Sunan Abu Dawud).
10. “Accustom yourselves to do good if people do good, and to not do wrong even if they commit evil.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
The people who commit evil things in islam are not representing islam. A muslim is an imperfect human being and they are capable of doing something even when religion says not to.
Before Islam, women were considered shameful, female children were buried alive, prostitution was rampant, divorce was only in the hands of the husband, inheritance was only for the strong, and oppression was widespread. Islam came and abolished these practices. Even now, in “developed countries”, women are not granted respect, dignity and honour, let alone equal pay for equal work. The mistreatment of women in some Middle-Eastern countries or Muslim families is due to cultural factors that some Muslims wrongly follow, not because of Islam. Why would many women around the world willingly enter Islam if it is an oppressive religion?

The Prophet (peace be upon him) also encouraged men to treat their spouses in the best way, “The best of you are those who are best (in treatment) to their wives.”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) was once asked, “O Messenger of Allah, who among people is most deserving of my good treatment?” He said, “Your mother.” The man asked twice more, “Then who?” and was given the same response. Only until the fourth time did the Prophet respond, “Then your father.” Reward is not only given to the good and kind treatment towards mothers. In fact, Islam has designated a special reward for raising daughters that is not granted for raising sons.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever Allah has given two daughters and is kind towards them, they will be a reason for him entering Paradise.”

Then I decide to deepen my learning about the religion, improve my submission to Allah and I found a peace I could not describe with words. It can only be felt with my heart. Without him you can not take away your sins and so this is why we need Jesus. He is the perfect man and sinless. God's only begotten son. His blood is perfect and can take away all of our sins. blood will be required at the end of your life because of your sins and if you do not have an atonement for your sins (who can only be jesus since his blood is the only requirement) you will go to hell forever

The other verse is about fighting against non believers and the verse after this one was about the fact that you have no permission to fight against those that wants peace. You cannot pick one random verse and skip the other. Sorry for raining on your parade but In ancient Mecca Arabs prayed to the moon. They called the moon Allah. It's no accident that the moon crescent is Islam's symbol,a symbol sitting on top of the mosque. To this,day Muslims unknowingly pray 5 times a day to the moon.

To all Muslims! Son of God means NOT SON! What is called the son of God is the word (power) of God! Which has nothing to do with a child (son)! Thus, the Son of God is incarnated as the man Jesus and the man Jesus is therefore referred to as a son, which does not mean a son!
