    This is it. 5 hours back and forth on my bike and the internet trying to figure this out. I had no idea the spokes could make that sound. Thank you!

    Absolutely bossed it, I've ridden normal bikes for years and never had this noise but my ebike was doing exactly this, I thought to myself an expensive repair since I couldn't find what it was, Then I came across this video, was very sceptical but tried it any way and it worked, couldn't believe it wow cheers mate , result

    my fat tire eBike has about 1200 miles on it and I started noticing weird sounds coming from the rear a few weeks ago. After eliminating several possibilities, i was beginning to suspect it was bad bearings or motor and was NOT happy. so thankful to have stumbled onto this video. i didn't think my spokes felt terribly loose, but after snugging them all up with a 9 dollar spoke wrench.... voila ! noise is gone. thank you !

    Great idea to isolate the issue by spinning the wheel with no load on it. I had the same issue, and snugging up the spokes fixed it. Thanks!

    Thanks for your diagnosis and solution. I have a slight clicking noise when just using the throttle on a stand. Will check and make sure all my spokes are tight. Followup: I checked for loose spokes and all the nuts on the non-drive side of the wheel were loose. Tighten them all up and the clicking sound went away. Guess the loose spoke nuts was an accident getting ready to happen.

    Its why any minor issue of changes can lead to these trouble shooting moments which is a annoying if it leads into more. Even messing with a bikes frame drop out bars to fit in wheel hub as doing that of just a minor hammer out of a millimetre, it will warp the rotation that leads to breakdown and notice many users doing this of their set up videos. You always have to be on inspection mode constantly to be on top of these issues to save the motor. Im always listening to anything that sounds or rides a bit odd.

    Unfortunately for me this wasn't the case i lifted up the wheel and the noise persists i took it to the shop and they said its the nylon gears inside the motor must've gone bad says only last 1-2 years the nylon gears grinding and from the speed heat up melting it over time

    I thought I had my clicking sound taken care of by tightening the spokes, but the sound came back after a short ride. Ended up being the bearings in the hub.

    It is common knowledge you need to tighten spokes on a hub motors.
    When i build a ebike for someone I always balance the wheels and use Loctite on spokes.
    Before even putting the wheel on.
    Most e-bike builders on TH-cam don't even bother doing the first thing.
    They think it's plug and play.

    • @electrifyus
      @electrifyus  ปีที่แล้ว

    I am having the same issue on my ebike with only 200 miles. If I push the thumb throttle there is no noise other than the motor. Once I pedel the clinking noise appears. I thought it maybe the spokes, some appeared to be loose but not by much. I will buy the spoke tool to see if that works. I hope that is all it is.

    • @electrifyus
      @electrifyus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Notice the sound about 100 miles on the ebike and it was progressively getting worse so I've took those steps to diagnose the problem.

  • @FrankLadd
    @FrankLadd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow! I think all the mail order manufacturers recommend you have a bike shop check out your bike before the first ride and at 100 miles. The bike shops all sell spoke tools cheap too, because inexperienced people thinking they can do it themselves often need expensive wheel repairs later. Please be careful with that spoke tool.

  • @nicholasmoore974

    I would have a trued by a professional. You could really mess it up and cause the brakes to wear prematurely. It's not a walk in the park to true rims

    • @electrifyus
      @electrifyus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely, if you could than do so, but some people don't have that option. I on the other hand, am a tinkerer. I like figuring things out. So when I'm out and about if something goes wrong I'm able to hopefully fix and get back on the road.

    • @nicholasmoore974
      @nicholasmoore974 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like we are one in the same. Ebike riders can also have their rims trued at a motorcycle shop as well

    • @DerekKerton
      @DerekKerton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Often, it's not so much getting the wheel trued, as just tightening a spoke or two. If that throws your wheel out of true, then maybe seek a pro. But if you can find the loose spoke and snug it up, you're only improving the integrity of the wheel system.

    • @B_COOPER
      @B_COOPER 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not rocket science. Also no it’s not just tightening your door hinges. Wheel truing is possibly one of the most satisfying maintenance tasks you can learn.
