Finally someone who has used the tent in Northern Europe and in windy conditions. I have the feeling that most of the reviews of this tent are from sunny California or from people who pitched the tent in their garden By the way: Is this the backpacking or bike packing version?
To be fair California has both the hottest desert in the world, the tallest mountains in North America, and almost 1000 miles of pacific coast. Safe to say it’s not just sunny and mild weather.
@@clay___doh You're right, of course. I meant that more as a metaphor than a factual statement. But somehow I do have the feeling that it's more common in the US/Canada to find fairly sheltered campsites. While people in the UK just camp on top of the hills with no coverage from wind whatsoever :)
This is the normal version. The bikepacking version is pretty much the same except the color is grey and the poles are more compact when packed. I know because I have the bikepack version, I use it for backpacking
@@James-yy4vl Na - it's not ideal - but it´s also not a dealbreaker. I live in Northern Europe and almost all tents I ever owned were inner first - Totally depends on when and where you're going.
Just had a zipper issue with my 3 person on a 5 day trip. One of the vestibule zippers wouldn’t go more than about 5 inches up and kept getting stuck at that point and started to tear away from the main fabric of the rain fly. Otherwise, I absolutely love the tent.
I have the dragonfly 1p (wish I had gotten the hornet 2p, but I digress). I was caught in a thunderstorm that turned into steady rain for about 11 hours... I stayed dry the whole time. Nemo makes great tents.
I am considering to get exactly one of these two and cant really decide. I prefer the hornet, but I worry that the dragonfly would be better in stormy weather. What dont u like about the dragonfly or why would u prefer the hornet if I may ask? Cheers
@@stillownya The dragonfly 1p is a fine tent, but the hornet 2p weighs the same with two doors and slightly more floorspace. Maybe it's just me, but I have never been in a storm with extremely high winds to need the extra tie down points.
@Obi-Wan_Pierogi gotcha, thanks mate! I think will also check the dragonfly for 2p, but the hornet 2p looks great tbh, just not sure about stormy weather compared to the dragonfly
i use the lanshan 2 and you have my patagonia but i have the grey one i allso have another goose dwn one with the stitching closer together great coats for £289 each
I think the zipper issues happen a lot on lightweight tents. The zipper on my BA Tiger Wall rain fly is not great either. I think for a place like Iceland I would go with a more robust tent and forget the lightweight tent all together. I am a UL backpacker using mostly Zpack gear but sometimes you need more robust tents. Something like a Hilleberg.
I watched a video about this tent failing in windy conditions dhe to how the outter cover not going all the way down on the one side and wind getting underneath that and breaking the frame poles. It's make me worried about purchasing one.
Dragonfly has more interior pockets, more head/shoulder room thanks to a crossbar, is freestanding, and has a much bigger vestibule, albeit it requires two stakes.
Yea the zippers are absolute poop. I see a few comments about the zippers. No excuse for Nemo to fail on something so basic as zippers when trying to sell a premium tent.
all gear is as good as the zippers quality, if the zippers are crap, the whole item is crap.. be that for jackets, tents, sleeping bags or ruc-backpacks..
MSR elixir 2 person (or 1 person) tent combined with a bushcraft USA 10x10 as tarp as your rain fly will do the same thing and gives you storage on the front back and sides. And folds down tight enough to fit in a hidden woodsmen back pack. For anyone that likes optioms
@@landdreugh9955 i never said that tent, tarp, or backpack were ultralight 🤷♂️ maybe just grow some muscle? All those items fit in a hidden woodsmen dayruck. So if you cant handle a loaded one of them then maybe hit the gym or find another comment thats more relevant to your needs?
I used the nemo osmosis elite 1 person in the UK hiking the JOGLE and I can grantee anyone using it, it's dangerous. It collapsed in a 30mph wind (which is legit an average wind in the uk) The bathtub failed by week 2 and would flood even when it hadn't rained. The draft os hideous because the outer fly is so high and overall, I think unless youre using it in dry weather with wind below 10mph, it's not at all suitable. I hope the dragon fly is better, but I won't ever be using nemo again.

It pitches inner first and fly sheet over the top which is a big no for Northern Europe. Not suitable in my opinion

So was it worth the $600 USD?
How did You solve the zipper problem? Is it fixable?
I use beeswax on my mums disneyland backpack every 6 months when it stops working. It’s a metal zipper, dont know if this works on plastic too

Great vid
But you gotta set up inner tent first? So surely if it’s raining everything gets wet
I was just in Iceland in June. So cool to see you guys stayed in a few places I did!
She purdy 😊 !
Buy hilleberg the Swedish king 👑
I just got the Nemo hornet osmo, do you know how it compares?

Is it normal for this kind of tent to be expensive?
Is that the Patagonia Fitzroy?
It sure is!

How do you shower?I plan on doing something similar like this for about 3 months😊
Hope it was all tailwind sheeeshhh
Im from Iceland
Beautiful country, spent 9 days there doing the ring road. Wish we had more time to go into the highlands.
It’s so beautiful there!
A cheap and affordable $500 tent. I love Nemo but the price point isn’t great.
Just under three pounds isn’t very light tbh, much rather lose the weight on an actual unltralight tent like the durston x mid
I don’t know that it’d bring a pole tent to Iceland… or a single walled tent depending on the season.

What the fuck are pounds and ounces?
We feel the same way about the metric system. That’s what Google is for.
NGL I usually prefer a tent that's a little more heavy because of durability but that's just me
So it didn't hold up to your trip, gotcha

Inner pitch first? What if it's pouring with rain? No thanks 👍🏻 Hilleberg Solu way better than this, for not much more weight.
Just got the Niak for 350 basically brand new.

No.
