Welcome to the Fox Hole Jenny🦊 'Gimme Chocolate' is one of their fun songs (you wouldn't believe the mosh pits that form when they play this). They just want chocolate but are a bit worried about their weight ... but it is chocolate and it will be so nice, so they will just have a piece of chocolate please.
They have many deeper and more meaningful songs (pretty much always with a positive message) and the metal and JPop elements are blended more seamlessly than is the case on this song.
They also do not limit themselves in any way - they play virtually every metal genre and mix in so many more musical styles and genres than just pop.

Welcome to the Foxhole to your friend.🦊🤘🍫
This song is just about the girls wanting some chocolate and little bit worried about weight, there's no deep meaning or crazy analogies behind,
    See you next time.

They improve as albums continue. "Karate" is a very good video by them, and "Monochrome" of their new album is coming out in a few months.

At 1:16, it is not 'Kawa', but 'Kawaii', I believe. It is a general term in Japanese meaning 'cute, pretty, lovely, and adorable etc'. Please be clam down, Nathan. You're a little bit too excited (doki doki), lol.
By the way, I like ABBA too, ha, 'Money money money!', it is the Senpai (Senior) song for 'Onedari Daisakusen'!
Well, the goodness of BM's music is that it can be interpreted in any ways. But perhaps 'Give me chocolates' right after the war, is not so relevant.., but let's not be definitive, lol. Thank you from Japan!

Good job spreading the Fox God word! 🤣 And welcome to BABYMETAL, Jenny.
I don't buy that interpretation about the US soldiers handing over chocolate to the kids (which happened for sure). The girls told that the song was about wanting to eat chocolate and being worried about gaining some extra weight. That's all. 😁
Here is the translation of the "kamishibai" (narrated intro) for the song's live premiere at legend 1997 (the source of the visuals of this MV). Credits to Du-metal.
On the holy night, at "Uki Uki * Midnight", too much glittering bright!
    did YUIMETAL & MOAMETAL,
    and SU-METAL.
But they should have been careful not to romp too much. YUIMETAL & MOAMETAL
once again, though the Fox God had taught them "Never eat it! Absolutely not!",
    ate the "check-it-out chocolate".
"Can I have a bit of choco, too?" thought SU-METAL,
but, keeping her hand in the fox sign, she restrained herself.
"Would you have a bit of choco?" The two do the devil's temptation.
SU-METAL can't resist it and stretches her hand to the chocolate,
but, for some reason, the chocolate escapes from her.
"Why!? Wait a while! Wait! Wait!"
SU-METAL asks the Fox God for it.
    "Give me chocolate, please!"

This isn't about WW2, it has two themes going on. First is how women are expected to adhere to a certain body image, but they still want chocolate. Second and more subtle, is rooted in Japanese tradition. This song was released just before Valentine's Day. On that day in Japan, girls are required to hand out chocolate to the boys and men they know, this is known as Giri Choco, or obligation chocolate, there is a whole wiki article on Giri Choco and the misogeny that goes with it. Anyway, this is Gimi Choco, and they're not giving it away, they're keeping it. Gender equality is an issue in Japan, and that's what the song is about

@@maxmaidiac2237 For 2022 of 146 countries, Japan is ranked 116 in gender equality. Safe, yes. Good education and health care, yes. But they are very low in economics. Look it up yourself, this isn't my opinion it's objective fact. You should check on things before accusing racism.

I‘m not on board with the WW2 interpretation, but who knows. As usual, there has never been an official comment, and they often leave their messages vague for everyone to draw their own conclusions based on their personal experiences. To me it’s a song about social pressure in general, which is probably more of an „issue“ in Japan than it is here (I‘m putting it in parentheses, because it may not even be an issue, because the Japanese people seem to be largely OK with it).
But I will say that there are these strange gun sounds (atatatata…, zukyun, dokyun) that I cannot explain, and they are even doing something like a gun gesture in the choreography. So it may not be far fetched.

  • @rickwagner-

    ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝
    Your interpretation is good.
According to lead singer Su, it's just about wanting chocolate, but being a bit concerned about putting on weight.
    Pretty relatable.
She has specifically said that it doesn't have anything to do with eating disorders, which was another fan theory.
