Before watching Netflix hit series “Bridgerton” s.2, I was among the straight people prejudiced against gay actors cast as straight characters on stage or at the movies. I was so convinced of that I nearly didn’t watch “Bridgerton, s.2” at all. But of course curiosity got the better of me and I did watch it anyway. Boy, was I wrong! I was in fact blown away by openly gay Jonathan Bailey’s mesmerizing performance as straight Lord Bridgerton’s desperate love for Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). Indeed, Mr. Bailey is pulling off his straight character’s efforts to win over his attraction to Kate so convincingly, never ever will I doubt he nor any other gifted actor’s ability to play any part, whichever their own sexuality might be. In fact, I’m now a fan of Jonathan Bailey’s. From now on this grandmother is going to follow his promising career closely where ever his many talents lead him. I’m convinced he’s destined for international fame as well as reaping honours and rewards from more successful artistic endeavours.
Yes, he dodged a bullet, if indeed he was even serious when he said he wanted to be in CATS. Having seen the interview in which he said that, I think he was just joking.
