Here are two urban Legends that he didn't mention, Resurrection in Chicago that started in the 1920's about a guy who went to a dance at a club met and danced with a woman named Mary and when he offered to take her home when they got towards the city cemetery she told him to let her out and when she did she walk towards the cemetery and disappeared. A few weeks later he went by her mother's house ask to see if she lived there her mom said she died , so every time people drive by the cemetery they tried to find and a few people have claimed to see her since 1925 . Then there's the mothman in west Virginia

One story I heard was about a couple who had car trouble down a deserted road. While they were trying to fix the car, someone came along and murdered them. Supposedly, if you park your car in neutral on that road and wait a bit the couple will come along and push your car down the road until the end so you don't end up the same way. I've also heard that if you put flour or some other kind of powder on the back of the car you'll see their handprints.

In the 1960's a bunch of us were doing yard work for one of our classmates. We put our shovels in the back of his station wagon and decided to check out a supposedly haunted cemetery. So off we went. As we were driving down the final rode a state police cark turned on his lights and stopped us about 100 feet from our intended destination and asked us what's up and seeing the shovels in the back. We were told to turn around and leave and were followed by him for over two miles to be certain we were going to our homes. That was scarier than the haunted cemetery could have ever been. It was about sunset and the moon was rising.

There is a local Urban myth in a town about a half hour away from me. The legend is about Friske Creek. Legend is that two children were drowned be a murderer. The children tried to escape & would put their hands up to grab onto something to keep from drowning but to no avail. Anyone that tries to cross the creek will supposedly be grabbed by the ghosts of the kids that died, & will drown just like the kids did.

The ghost girl reminded me of a story my dad told. He used to be a truck driver and I rode with him over the road. One night really late he was on the cb talking to other drivers about a ghost girl that would jump on the side of the truck and look in. She was searching for the one that killed her. Another trucker asked what happens if she found him. My dad was like "unless its you. You don't have anything to worry about." 😆

I'm a Louisville native and have often heard the story of the Pope Lick Monster. There have been short films and plays based on the creature and that has only brought more attention to it. If you saw the trestle at Pope Lick you'll know from the start it's scary enough on its own, especially if you have a fear of heights. This hasn't stopped many people from falling to their deaths over the years there due to sheer stupidity rather than any sheep or goat man. Most believe the stories were started to try and scare kids away but unfortunately it seems to have only lured more people there. Some have been killed by the fall, others still by train. It's hard to know just how many have been injured over the years since the trestle is over a century old. It seems like every several years there is always someone testing it and either having to get rescued by firefighters, being injured, or end up getting killed.

I've heard half of these. Honestly, I'm surprised this was more related to ghost stories than what the majority of urban legends that exist. Such as Wumpus Cat, Jersey Devil, Snalliegaster, or Mothman. No tales of werebeasts, skinwalkers, hellhounds, or anything akin to goblins or imps. Granted, the last one is more common in South America, but the USA does have urban and native legends with things like Puckwudgies, Little Red, and some others I can't recall at the moment.

Regarding the Slaughterhouse Canyon, if that was the way of it, no one would have known what happened. Even if the bodies were discovered before decomposition, they *could* determine a murder had occurred, but wouldn't have much detail beyond that. But it being a gold rush, she would've been among a community of other mining families with stores and available provisions and would not have been left to starve.

Urban legend that in the early part of the 20th century a school bus stalled on RR tracks. Several children died. If a car parks on or too close to the RR tracks, the vehicle will get pushed across the tracks to safety by the ghosts of the dead children. (Supposedly the bus accident didn’t happen near San Antonio but near Salt Lake City in 1938.)

Don't forget the BEKs or black eyed kids. Urban legend says at night kids knocking on your door or look in your windows wanting help, but their eyes are black voids, if you let them in you might not be seen again.

I live in Lawrence Kansas just 13 miles from Stull Kansas definitely heard stories growing up around here. My uncle once told me when the church was still up that you could throw objects inside and they would never hit the ground also there was supposedly a stair case that if you went down it they never ended some say those stairs lead you to hell and are still there just covered by dirt. It's definitely a creepy area and strange things do go on there for sure

There is a tale similiar to the knock knock tale in Alabama. I heard the tale while I was driving for a trucking company in Eufaula Al. The road where this is supposed to happen is going west out of Birmingham..

I have been to Stull Cemetery. It's not really very big and you could easily drive by it thinking that it was just another rural cemetery.
Surprised that there was nothing related to Mahwah.

These were all kinda cool legends. But you should look for more famous legends like Mothman, The Jersey Devil, the Leaux gareau(spelling??) And other famous legends.
A few miles from my house in Indiana, Pa, there is a covered bridge on an old dirt road called Thomas Rd Covered Bridge. Legend has it if you drive onto the bridge at midnight stop n yell murder 3times, the word will be etched onto the hood of the car. Never be able to erase it, even if you sand n repaint the hood.
