What an incredible life to spend seven years learning and growing! Traveling full time is a beautiful opportunity that comes with it's own challenges. I became a full time digital nomad at the start of this year, but since I knew I eventually wanted a home base somewhere, we decided to focus on slow traveling. We'll spend a couple years slowly bouncing around, spending a few months in each place to find our ideal home base. Can't wait to find my community!
I saw your channel because I was searching for print-on-demand video and just randomly saw this specific video. For the past few months, I've been watching a lot of videos of digital nomads/content creators who have been travelling, more so backpacking. Watching your video is really refreshing and a breath of air - how you talked about the beauty of travelling and the learnings/discovery you now have with you even as you decide to stop travelling full time. And that, it's ok go back and want the "normal life" after being in the scene of travelling full time for 7 yrs. Additionally, it's really impressive the direction that you want for your channel. I hope you continue to create more contents (for as long as it feels right for you) :) Wishing you the best! New subscriber here from the Philippines :)
I feel like traveling abroad is also a inner journey and it feels amazing that you could find places inside yourself about the life you want to live. You had to let go everything of your comfort zone and once started this path you could discover who you are without the influences from your original life and i think this is the most precious gift you could get 💗
yes, i am so grateful i traveled so much and had the oportunity to get to know myself without the influences from my original life. I feel like it made me grow up and accept myself as i am!
Thank you so much for posting this. This helps me understand the feeling I have of always looking for the next place and not live in the present that much. Wish you al the best in your journey❤️🙏
You're welcome.. i was feeling that for a while and reflected a lot, also talked with other digital nomads about the topic.. Im glad i helped you understand sometinhg about you ❤
You're not getting old! You're becoming more mature! Congratulations! Ironically, traveling to new places often makes people even more mature. And as you said, you can't be alone. Have you ever thought about getting serious in a relationship and building a family before it's too late? Or maybe focusing on your professional life, or even starting a business that could make the world a better place? As cliche as it sounds, it’s worth considering. I hope you find your long term, meaningful purpose in life, whatever that may be.
That's a very important reflection. I think you are making this decision at the right time. I've seen so many people getting exhausted from traveling to the point that they don't feel like doing it in their lives ever again. Of course, it might change for them, but it's kind of sad when the thing you love the most in your life becomes something you would never like to do again at some point. I live in Malta now, have a local job, and my main goal at the moment is to work 100% remotely and being able to become a digital nomad. But not because I want to wake up every week in a different place. I just want to have the freedom to spend 3 months wherever I want and then come back to my base when I feel like it. Kind of what you expect now of your life. Thanks for sharing!
exactly! this idea for me is the best, just wanting the geographic freedom but not the pressure of traveling all the time and not having a base... i think not having a base for too long is just not very healthy, the way you are planning yourself sounds very good and you will be able to enjoy it a lot! excited for you!
Rafa, I just discovered your channel through the lovely world of the algorithm of the Bali video you mentioned. I'm so proud of you for reflecting and posting this video. It can feel scary when a new chapter is unfolding as a new layer of us is being revealed, which may be contradictory to the previous - but it's beautiful. Traveling pushes us out of our comfort zone and allows us to grow, and it also shows us what our comfort and thriving zone is! My relationship with travel has been complex as well as previously I used to think that I could live anywhere and live any lifestyle - and this is true. But I realized that just because I could LIVE there doesn't mean I would THRIVE there. Being able to see and experience the best of each place like you said is such a gift, which can make it harder to choose. But when we do choose... it's beautiful.. because we have many, MANY options and experiences and yet we decide to choose this special one (or ones) ;). I have not digital nomaded for as long as you did but I am a multicultural person who sits between cultures which inspired me to travel. Early on I realized that as much as I love novel experiences and people, I also need community, people, and routine. Constant change in location can make it more difficult to grow in areas that are as important to you like community, art, purpose, health, and more. Cheers to building around what's important to you. May our paths cross in a beautiful way when the time is right!
PREACH. im 17 years in. People dont understand how lonely you get. Temporary friends are great but it just makes you more lonely to keep saying bye. Then you never belong to anything and its tough. Im glad you're making the decision for you
I live in Thailand and own a travel company. I have now settled for 5 years here but still must travel about 2 months of the year plus visit family in America and I am still so tired. I traveled alot before starting the travel company and I remember in India I would get so tired of meeting new people with the same questions "where are you from", "how long are you traveling" i gave up. I didnt go to hostels for that reason. It is good you know when to check out and get some stability, the older you get the more you need this.
I really appreciate the rawness of this video and the fact it's completely unscripted. I was one of many that you inspired to look into the digital nomad lifestyle and I appreciate you being completely honest of how the downsides have impacted you. Hope you continue to do well in your new home base Rafa and looking forward to more raw & cinematic travel content in the future!
Mto sucesso pra tu 🫡
I’m impressed with how you follow your own path ❤ I’m sure you’ll create wonderful things with time in one place. As a viewer I honestly get exhausted from constant travel videos. I love being home so much 🏡 good luck in your new journey!
Ive been traveling and living in different countries in the last ten years. I realised that I need a base, a home, Im gonna continue traveling but I to prefer to travel lighter and go back after traveling to my home
Being a digital nomad and having traveled my whole life (even during childhood) I relate to your experience. I have now chosen my base and I will stick to it and live there long term while still traveling once in a while. I realized that people that become nomads do it for the passion for traveling but also because they are looking for community that they struggled to find at home. I have now chosen a place that aligns with me, my values and my personality and I think this was the answer to most of my problems. One of the biggest things that affected me while staying in a lot of really nice/ideal places that people would love to live in is that usually the locals are being affected by gentrification. I could not live with the thought of taking part in harming their living conditions and I realized that by working a remote job there you are living in an illusion which after sometime vanishes when you realize the imperfections of the country's system. I don't want to live in "vacation places" anymore, they are only nice for vacation for a reason. I wish more people would stop idealizing this lifestyle and woke up to the reality. I am happy that you chose what's best for you and I wish you the best in this new life❤️
yeah, it happens.. for me even slow traveling was hard because you create somewhat deeper connections and leave so it is hard goodbyes all the time... it was still a great phase and i enjoyed it!
i did that for long but i truly feels that at some point you want to feel like you will stay somewhere.. you crave deeper connections and experiences, but i mean, everyone is different.. this is my perspective and the perspective of many DN i met that were also tired of it
Thanks for this video. I feel the same. I traveled a lot since 2009, have been to 53 countries and I really am tired of traveling and the experience is not what it used to be for me. I want to find a home-base but have no idea where to go, I have no family alive anymore and no reason to be in one place. Lots of cities in America are dangerous and disgusting places, so I don't feel like going back there.. I'm not sure where to go..
Did any of the 53 countries you've visited feel like home or feel like somewhere you could live long-term? That could be a starting point. I've lived in Melbourne (Australia) my whole life. I've been to the US a few times and really loved Hawaii - but I know the cost of living is through the roof.

Destination Fatigue. I hear it. I'm thinking on being a Digital "Slow-Mad"... 3-4 places per year.

All good things come to an end. Life is a journey. Your travels haven't stoped, you're just on a new adventure
My suggestion is: Find a sidekick, that will make everywhere feel like home. Home is where love is. In the meantime enjoy your perma/temp home!

I think you travelled when you have energy in 20s. You moved to next chapter for your life 😊
Destiny is all
not the "i'm going to travel every day" -> "i'm never going to travel again" pipeline
what it means
Creater saying TH-cam destory long form vid for putting shorts.
travelling can become so boring, tiring and full of bullshit as any other activity. Because you try to fill a void with it. It's so vain
