This honestly might be the best overall survival kit you've ever covered, usually it's always "oh it's missing this and that" but this time I was impressed by the quality and quantity of what it has, and the special surprises of things I would've only thought of out in the field and not while planning a bag. I literally said, out loud, "IT EVEN HAS A BIOHAZARD BAG!" Every expectation was surpassed with this one, and hearing it can be got for as low as 90 dollars? Nothing better for the price I'm aware of, and the sort of thing that at THAT low a price, it would be a challenge to match what they give you in this pack scrounging on your own. Massively impressed by this one.
I really liked this too! I would be tempted to buy, but I live in the UK, and kits with knives in don't tend to be sold over here. And only at higher prices.
This is the first 72 hr survival bag that I have considered purchasing. But I would also add most of the things that you added. Thanks for showing this on your channel.
You must have made 50 + or even many more bags at this point, it would be interesting to know which ones you would choose to grab in an actual emergency depending on the situation
You can use the biohazard bag to fill with leaves and use in your tube tent as a pillow or use as ends/doors for the tent. Lots of good uses for a big plastic garbage bag.
I love it when you take things out of the package and give us a real look. I was impressed with this survival kit a little less woodsy and a little more urban survival a little more focused on disaster and a little less? self-inflicted ? Something that would be good to put in your closet or maybe in your vehicle.
Certainly one of the better bags at that price point. All of the stuff seems to be decent quality. I like the way they've organized everything. If you're outdoors, on the move, you're not going to have a nice flat table to lay everything out on. You neeed to be able yo grab it quickly. Your additions, as always, make it even better
That's a pretty nice kit, it's almost complete and ready to use without adding to it, I'm glad to see the medical kit has things other than adhesive bandages because it's not the smell cuts that will give you problems it's the big ones. The fire steel is nice, I like the size of it 6x1/2 inch.
$90 on Walmart, ordered 3 as gifts. I will “kitbash” them before I give them away. I absolutely luv your vids, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us 👊 welcome back, we missed ya
The back pack alone usually costs that much! Having everything for 2 people in one bag is great, especially if the second person is a child that can't carry all their own supplies. Can easily divide into a second pack to lighten the load. And the first aid kit is a lot better than most I've seen (didn't take much to make it a full trauma kit)! Time to get my bag out to switch to winter needs!
I think this is the best value short term survival bag I have seen. And it’s for 2 people. Very basic and easy enough for even non preppers or beginners.
A nice startup bag to get an earthquake bag going. My personal touch would be removing one of the food bag contents and putting in real food as it is a great morale boost to eat a warm meal. Probably some bean dish and a baggy of mashed potato powder. The Fieldmaster you added is a great knife i use it as my EDC knife. Matches and a lighter are always the first choice for fire lighting as it is the easiest way. Especially when you are cold and wet.
My main annoyance with so many crank light radios is they still come with micro usb cords. They really need to switch to type c. The massive ferro rod with whistle was a pleasant surprise, though I wish they also included matches. Need to include some leukotape wrapped around a gift card ;-)
My first youtube post. Few small tips to Eric and all. A Clipper lighter: jerk the sparker assembly and rotate it 180 degrees and replace. Makes a very effective sparker even if the butane is empty.
A quick way to convert F to C is take the F times it by 2 and add 30= Celsius (Approximation) Example 8 degrees C X 2 = 16+30 equals 46 degree F. Awesome video
the Company "Nextool" and "Roxon" have been really stepping up in the quality chinese multitool market. So i would absolutely add one of those good new LM Wave/Surge knockoffs to this kit!
For the price point I don't think you can get a better base to kitbash for your personal & local environment needs. I really like the bag and how it's organized, too. If I can get those in my country I think I'm gonna finally make the jump and kitbash it with some of your channel help. Absolutely love your reviews and ideas, thanks !
It took me 72 hours to watch this. lol It is one of the better 2 person 72 hour bags I've seen you review. A lot more thought put into it than 2 glow sticks for three days sillyness. I'll have to put some of those turn liquid into a solid bags often sold with camp toilets into my more urban kits. You can't always go outside to do #1 & #2 in an urban disaster and may not be stuck close to an indoor toilet.
Random Rations to add- Glucose Tablets. They come in travel packs. They're a compact way to keep your blood sugar up in a fasting situation. Also, a small container of Coffee extract (from cooking aisle) will really help with the taste of the instant coffee. Just a couple drops needed for each cup (replaces the oils that the freeze drying process removes). Since it's an extract, it's also another source of alchohol if you need it topically.
Good review Eric. I am impressed with this kit. Obviously your additions advance its capability but as purchased it stands up well. This would be excellent to just stow and forget in a vehicle as it is until needed.
Thank you for the excellent review. This is a decent starting point for those with limited time. You can put a red paracord loop on the zipper pull to mark the First Aid compartment. and that's a big enough pack to put a good-sized tarp in to supplement your shelter element.
My thanks for this review. I had been looking to possibly purchasing this product specifically. After the video dropped, I purchased three of these from Amazon for $79 each, which were on sale. I was hoping to snag another a few days later, but the price had gone up to $129.00
Prolly the best set so far, but it's still lacking in a lot of stuff, I would also drop an tarp, even the small/light one would be enough (preferably a poncho style tbh). You can use it literally for everything.
Excellent video! I enjoyed how you didn't just talk about what comes with the kit, but also your enhancements to improve upon it. One suggestion would be to include both latex gloves and work gloves.

a very long time back. i was camping ( boy scout thing) and a much haver storm than thought hit, very heavy winds, rain. and yes a tube tent works great. this bag looks good. but between the two of us. you can pack it. bad back here. no longer that kid in a tube tent. now my camping has wheels.
I would still carry an EDC bag with personal choices for things like knives and Firestarters per person. But having an all in one bag is a good backup.
The only thing I would added in the cutting department fix blade knife like Mora or some sorta fix blade for batoning to go with the folding saw and victorinox like ya did in the video. A folding shovel if there was room and also one those Arcturus survival tarp or Military poncho to go with the other cover as well course a small fishing kit with few those little mechanical reels. and small collapsible cookset with small gas stove. A way better compass. Definitely like the video and Content ya added especially the Silky saw victorinox water filter/purification tablets. In food it looks like one could fit a few ramon soups or some bouillon cubes.
Great to see you (at least your hands) again, Eric! 😂 Love these videos. There's something about them i just can't put my finger on; perhaps alternating sense of approval and disapproval at the survival items? Anyway, I find them both informative and strangely exciting. Maybe I need professional help? Maybe I need a bigger budget and somewhere to store all the bits I keep handy to make the 'ulitmate kit' someday. All the best from a very rainy Wales.
I ordered this kit based on your video, just arrived today, so now I’m watching your video again while going through mine. It was too good to pass up and that price point
Yeah, I would have but I was out of mini fishing kits and didn't want to wait another week for one to arrive. Wanted to get the video published. Thanks!
Great video Eric! Always enjoy viewing them. Have you thought about providing affiliate links to the kits you review? Might be a good way to raise some $$$ for the channel. Thanks for providing us with knowledge and entertainment!
Was fairly impressed with this kit. Of course judging by the shape of the rucksack and the luggage type layout, this kit is designed for the sort of people who would just stick it in the boot of the car, RV, home even aircraft. Serious outdoors types would have their own arrangements. Even so, no one is ever walking out of a situation until they are. I would suggest walking with this pack at least 5 miles, preferably 10. Even a lighter uncomfortable pack becomes a burden after a few miles. Just something as simple as repacking can make a lot of difference (less simple during an emergency). If the pack is very uncomfortable after a few miles for you it may need replacing if you can't fix the problem but better to know this before not during.
Pretty nice and comprehensive kit! I suppose it is the one that gets tossed into the trunk of a car and not really carried around. It's way too heavy! Great video and additions!
Assuming 2 people, 6 Jolly Ranchers is 1 per person per day, not 2. Great video, thanks for sharing! If I were to add anything, I think I'd add a cheap pair of gloves or some disposable medical gloves. I know you mentioned a dry bag for clothes, but without that maybe a couple pairs of socks or hospital socks or something to wear in the sleeping bag if it's cold or wet. ...and yes, those "splinter probes" do look exactly like the other half's old finger-sticking lancets.
The common survival card thingy: run your compass by it and you'll see that the card is magnetized. All of mine are anyway. Hang it from a 3 foot thread and it makes an effective compass. Tie it at the exact center edge where the four wrench point is. Think that was coincidental? The knife edge also makes the best flint rod striker you'll find! Comfortable to use and throws masses of sparks!
They are unavailable on Amazon as of right now, but i wish they sold the bag as either a tan variant and they also sold the bag separate as well cause i would love to have the bag for several different things that elastic webbing is the most ingenious things i have ever seen
On the cutting side. I would get the SMITHS pocket sharpener. They make two kinds. Get the pocket survival sharpener. As it comes with a sharpener, a honer, a serrated sharpener, a whistle, a Ferro rod, a compass, and a mini flashlight. The sharpener is also bright yellow. This would help to keep the blades sharp. I would also add some aluminum foil. And extra batteries or rechargeable batteries.
I ordered two of these kits. Both kits were missing the Lifestraw, the advertised water and food. I contacted Amazon and they gave me credits for the missing items. Not enough but it’s something.
Hard to beat at that price point, especially if you grab it for the $90 sale price! The only thing I don’t understand is why they but a folding knife in these kits instead of something like a budget mora? Still not bad and I’ll watch for that sale price to grab one😎🇻🇳
For 200,000 years a "survival knife" was a sharp piece of flint the size of your thumb. 95% of "survival" happens in the first inch of your knife. A good pocket knife is a good tool. A two or three blade is even better. A Mora is simply a locked open pocket knife that doesn't fit well in your pocket.
The real disadvantage to one of those modern "tactical folder" knives like this one is the entire grip design. Wide and flat means it only fits the hand one way. That seriously limits its function. A REALLY good survival knife would be infinitely twistable in the hand and useable from any angle like a paring knife or a classic pocket knife.
I would recommend pink flagging tape over orange as it is more visible in the woods ( blaze orange actually blends pretty well), also why not use procamptek tinder plugs or something similar, that tinder bag seems awful large for only 4 fire starts. The tinder plugs may fit in the whistle compartment.
Do you know if the water-bags will survive freezing temps in a car trunk without splitting open ? I know from experience that plastic bottles often split open when frozen and then drain out once they thaw. Very enjoyable review and mods !
This might be the nicest premade kit on the market for the price. The items you added really made it outstanding. I wonder what the total weight was in the end.
So if this for a two persons, what should the other person be carrying? Assuming both are equally capable. Or perhaps you would split the items of this bag into 2 equal bags, with room for additional gear in each?
My advice.. The best thing you can do is to put together items of better quality yourself and put them in a sturdy bag. This will be a bit more expensive, but in emergency situations you will know it was worth the money
I love all of your videos. They are very helpful to me and my family because some of those kits you done by have because of you got them and they’re very helpful so God bless you and your family. God bless the world along. PS thanks again keep on doing them please so helpful text one person to answer me.
Missed you! I think the pouches inside are a little overkill. They look nice, but ziplocks would have functioned just as well, and cost less and taken up less space. I think the little insulated pocket is for RFID blocking. Liked this bag a lot.
Can you combine elements from the Esee, solkoa, surviveware 1st aid, and any other good kits (with your additions, if course) to make a "best" survival kit, pls?
A little surprised you did not include a better knife when you kitbashed it any idea what the extra cost of the items you added was interested to find out to compare with my bag that I have put together from scratch

Great tip!
It could also be used for signalling
Add signaling to the list!
Excellent one for a starter project the one thing I would add is a stove like a esbit just in case.
That is one nice kit for a pre-made. Definitely a great way to get started in creating your own emergency kit!

Still farely cheap for a 2 person 3 day kit
@@AustinTheHunter13 yea i agree on that

That is actually a nice kit with good quality stuff at a good price.

the Company "Nextool" and "Roxon" have been really stepping up in the quality chinese multitool market. So i would absolutely add one of those good new LM Wave/Surge knockoffs to this kit!

Random Rations to add- Glucose Tablets. They come in travel packs. They're a compact way to keep your blood sugar up in a fasting situation. Good review Eric. I am impressed with this kit. Obviously your additions advance its capability but as purchased it stands up well. This would be excellent to just stow and forget in a vehicle as it is until needed.

Thank you for the excellent review. This is a decent starting point for those with limited time. I believe that many viewers could build a kit, customized for their area of operation, from what they likely have on the shelf. Customizing for your needs is truly important. Ive put Jolly Rancher candies in survival kits before, they seem like a good idea at first but they quickly melt messing up everything around them.

TY for the Awesome Vid.! Can it be expanded to be for 3 person??
I would recommend pink flagging tape over orange as it is more visible in the woods ( blaze orange actually blends pretty well), also why not use procamptek tinder plugs or something similar, that tinder bag seems awful large for only 4 fire starts. The tinder plugs may fit in the whistle compartment.
I’ve got a big box full of different types of fire starting stuff. I decided to go with what I used because I haven’t featured it in a previous video.
@@KitbashedSurvival My thought was mainly that the bag seemed quite large for only 4 firestarters.
The side aluminium pocket might be useful for peoples with insulin.
Do you know if the water-bags will survive freezing temps in a car trunk without splitting open ? I know from experience that plastic bottles often split open when frozen and then drain out once they thaw. Very enjoyable review and mods !
My experience too, the water bags seem to survive many freezing cycles
Welcome back😊
I purchased mine from Woot for $71.00 including shipping over the summer.
Nice!
Have you looked at the Kea Kit from New Zealand?
This might be the nicest premade kit on the market for the price. The items you added really made it outstanding. I wonder what the total weight was in the end.
Awesome video!
You should do a survival kit with at lease one piece of gear from all the survival kits you have reviewed on this channel.
ITS Mini Survival Kit is in stock . You said you would make a video on it.
So if this for a two persons, what should the other person be carrying? Assuming both are equally capable. Or perhaps you would split the items of this bag into 2 equal bags, with room for additional gear in each?
Clothes. In the UK, you'll always want more gloves, hats, socks, waterproofs, thermals
You could always get 2 of these and then be good for 6 days
@@KitbashedSurvival Or divide those smaller bags between two packs - it seems designed to make that easy anyway!
Im glad you're ok
Missed you! I think the pouches inside are a little overkill. They look nice, but ziplocks would have functioned just as well, and cost less and taken up less space. I think the little insulated pocket is for RFID blocking. Liked this bag a lot.
Thanks!
This one looks really good
That compass id never rely on, too close to metal and electric current. Overall though, looks like a nice starter bag
finnaly a new video
Yay!
@@KitbashedSurvival Could you make a altoids tin survial kit yourself. Im courious to see what you would put in there.
I added a Swiss army knife. Not sure of the cost.
Decent little backpack. Those zipper pulls if they’re not already fire tinders, replace them with actual tinder material. I mean, why not?
Do you happen to have a list of items you added to this bag?
FYI the splinter probes are called lances in the diabetic world and in the medical world.
What kind of freezer dried coffee do you pack ?
That biohazard bag in case you have to poop in doors. Could be handy. Dig it.
