Yay, the mountain of Green Horde is underway! Hope you all like, it was a popular request from the unboxing video. Lets keep the motivation train going :-) The heroes are coming! Everyone else as excited about launching this catapult at some zombies as I am?
Yours is great with extra highlights. I first clear matt sprayed mine then just washed the wood. Army painter strong tone (not quick shade. Then did the metal, the ropes and added Citidel texture paint to make mud on the wheels.
Great choices! I can totally be behind not using quickshade if you have more effort to put in. Tag me in a pic on Instagram if you get chance, would love to see!
Oh man I've still got the Depths of Massive Darkness to finish this should be arriving today. Cheers for the video wasn't sure how I was gonna paint this :)
Urgh, I find Massive Darkness really depressing to think about, there's SO, SO many models, I'm getting through them, but I can't see how I could ever finish them all?
You can use mineral spirits to clean the brush after using Army Painter's quickshade. Sorastro mentioned this in his Zombicide Black Plague painting tutorial video.
it really looks amazing after being painted and it even looks doable by me (never painted in my life and zombicide is the first miniature game i bought, still waiting the delivery tough)
Thanks man, yes totally!! I think anyone could paint this model, and zombicide is a great place to learn to paint. Lots of hordes that don’t really matter that much AND you can just use blood to cover mistakes :-D
Hey, I received zombicide yesterday!! I have another small question: do you have an advice to give concerning paint to get to start with? I'm hesitating between: www.amazon.fr/ArmyPainterkit-Peinture-D%C3%A9marrage-Warpaints/dp/B01MTXRU2L/ and www.amazon.fr/Kit-Peinture-Zombicide-Paquet-10/dp/B01A03D55I/ or do you think I should go with: www.amazon.fr/Army-Painter-Peinture-Miniature-Warpaints/dp/B01MTXRUUT/ ? (maybe a bit overkill and probably won't use all the different colors) do you have some recommendation for a primer to start with? especially which color i should use: white, black? or maybe some colored ones (i see like skeleton flesh or leather brown?) I mean maybe paint over white is easier? thanks a lot for your replies :) and looking forward to see the watch it paint it of orc walkers/runners!
Hiya, paint choices are tricky. I think everyone would recommend different things. I personally think getting paints to following along with tutorials was a good idea for me. I have links in the descriptions of my videos to the paints I use in the videos. Also if you’re able to use Element Games (worldwide shipping) it supports the channel a little and using the code ‘BEN9785’ when you sign up gets us both a little extra store credit. I started with all the zombicide sets and the first game I painted was zombicide. I’m happy with my choice. I’ve got a lot of different paints since then though. I think if you enjoy the hobby you’ll get a large collection of paints over time. As for the primer, I like coloured primers to save me time. You get a colour that does a lot of the model for you. I. E. Leather brown did 95% of he trebuchet for me!! However if I don’t have a colour primer that is correct, I would use white.
hey, thanks! I tried to use element games for the primer (last thing i need to buy) but : "1 of the products that you selected cannot be shipped to France" because primer is a sprays and apparently those can only be send to the UK :(
Ah yeah. Primers struggle posting in the UK. I guess because they are flammable/explosive if you’re not careful :-/ thanks for trying though. Always great to get some support :-)
Just found your channel so the reply is a bit late, but I did see that Army Painter have a Green Horde paint set on pre order for 2nd of April this year with six paints: Ork Skin, Goblin Skin, Crushed Skull, Pale Flesh, Rough Iron (metallic) and Horde Shader (wash). Keep up the great work!
Might be worth slinging them an email showing what you do and saying you paint the Zombicide minis using the correct paints where available. You never know, they might let you you get some early... don't try don't get :)
Commenting while watching (sorry it's taken me this long to watch!) - You totally can bend them back after painting. I've never had a paint job mess up from this. Note I've only ever done it after sealing with a varnish. The plastic used, at least for CMON minis, will bend much sooner than paint will mess up.
Looking forward to see what you do with the Orcs. My humans zombies from black plague are green too so I'm wondering what I'm going to do so the Orcs look different
I have exactly the same problem! It’s really annoying, wish I’d not done the humans green, think that was a bad choice on Army Painter for their tutorials showing us to do them in necrotic flesh :-D I’m going to do the runners in the same colour, but all the others will be different. I’m also doing my bases different which will make it easier to tell all the models apart.
Watch It Paint It whati did with the modern zombicide was paint the rims of the base different colours. So my runners bases were yellow with black lines. Prison break guys were brown etc.
Yeah, this is so so easy Tamas. There's a whole load of places you can stop if its overwhelming too. Hardest bit is the dry brushing, but this is a really easy technique to learn!
In theory I know every technique :D I watched most of the videos on TH-cam there is, painting CMON games and Warhammer :D In practice I haven't yet had the chance to try them out, but soon! :) I just need to see how much I go broke after HATE and Nemesis, then I can plan to buy painting supplies :)
Thanks Robbie, long time no see! Hopefully the video quality and audio is getting better and better too. Funny, Austin and I were just talking about how much better I've got in under a year.. discussing if a montage video of the models getting better through the year would be interesting/cool :-)
Hey Watch it Paint it, Thank you for this video. I just received my Zombicide Black Plague and Green Horde in a couple of days ago. I've been prepping, priming, and slowly painting the Hero's of the sets... This Trebuchet just got it primed and now tada watching this video again. :P Excellent Job! liked and shared. Take care and Thank you once again. Back to more videos :)
Glad you're wasting no time getting to painting them :-) the sooner we start the sooner we get a better looking game on the table! :-) This is a nice quick one to get you going! Only 1 more tutorial to make from the core box, but it sounds like all our KS is arriving soon!
So nice, this Clip. 👍 Please make a Video were you work withe the "new" Army painter quickshade wash range. This are realy fantastic Paints auf it makes so much fun to work withe.
I have a question, is this primer same as the Zombicide BP original hero’s base color? I notice that GH heroes having little different color than BP heroes. I’m trying to make all the hero same color.
It's not exactly the same, no :( Its really hard to tell the difference but if they were side by side I think you'd know. Maybe you could prime ALL your heroes? Then they would all match
Looks awesome .. you must have a good tin of wash there, the one I used was like honey and I hated it, where as your seemed to go on pretty well and consistently at a thickness ... did you do anything to it beforehand? - Also try some Iso propanol to wash out your brushes afterwards, it'll get the paint and gloop out of any brush (As long as it's not a month old paint dried into it)
Thanks! I didn’t do anything but shake the tin for a minute and left it to settle for 5! It is a very new tin though, only just started playing with quickshade. Thanks for the cleaning tip!
So what ur saying is... when edge highlighting, u highlight.. the edges.. right? 😂 Good job man. I like the little touches at the end, weathering etc just to make it a touch more realistic
Siege weapons are a good test bench for newbies in the painting hobby...easy to do but still have their impact :) goodjob mate! Btw i'm confused....CMON think trebuchet is that small? 'Cause they were huge siege weapons, bigger than a siege tower and without wheels They needs to watch more medieval documentaries :D
That's what I thought, a great place to start as well as being a completely new model/idea is the Zombicide universe! You reminded me, I completely meant to show people how small the trebuchet is! I noticed that too, Berin the dwarf is over half as tall as this! I mean I get that its a game, and the need space on the board etc. But it looks like it wouldn't even make the Abomination flinch if it hit him :-D
What do all think of these buildings for a Green Horde 3D board?: www.kickstarter.com/projects/rocketpiggames/tilescape-gothic-city-3d-printable-modular-buildin

Thanks for getting this up so quick. Amazing job!
You're welcome Bevan! Glad you liked it, I also feel a lot better today after getting some sleep, hehe.

Thanks for the tip!
Indeed, works like a charm but smells very bad so I suggest you clean it outside or get into trouble with the mrs. :)
Awesome job mate
Thank you!!! :-)
Amazing job man.

amazing. i love what you have done.
Thanks dude! Wave 2 just arrived with me, so there will be more videos to come in the near future.
Same I love it too.

Awesome, I'll give it a go later.
Put tip in boiling water, hold in right position, then plunge into cold water. Model will keep shape. Before painting of cause.
Nice tip :-) I have this tip in a video about a year after this one :) but thank you! And very useful for anyone else seeing this comment

I’m doing the same as this! Good choice
Nice, on this I'm confident I can paint it my self :D It will be a good warm-up :D I just need scrap some money for the supply. Keep up the good work!

Very nice. Defo improving on the painting now mate. Keep it up.

Yes mate you're whole channel is more professional now. Defo on the up.

Thanks Kay! What are the "new" ones? I've not seen them? I wish Army Painter would send some paints in, I think I do enough advertising for them :-D

Keep highlighting until your edges' edges have edges.
Very nice guide. Too damn bad my Green Horde doesn't arrive until june. Gonna watch some GH paint guides to kill time!
No, I totally missed the Kickstarter :(
D'oh, that's a long wait :'(

They look like the could be quite sweet actually! Are you backing?
@@WatchItPaintIt Yes for sure Im backing it!
The wheel prop should have been wood, not metal. Bar that really nice work.
Ooooooh! My bad. Well spotted!
lol
Which bit?
