I think that’s part of the long-form content issue for her. Too long to keep up that silly accent. Also, it’s harder to manipulate the cameras on YT- I’ve heard from other influencers that the graininess of the filming or the poor quality of filming helps everyone look flawless on tictock. The longer nature and less distraction on TH-cam is a lot more challenging to doctor up.

Tbh my accent changes quite a bit depending who I talk to, if I speak to someone from my home area I'll speak more broadly, or if I get really excited. When I work or speak at shops or something I'll sound way more clear, or if I'm just thinking hard.
But saying that, she seems really fake and I wouldn't trust any aspect of herself, accent included. Wouldn't be surprised if she fakes it.

As someone who has been on TH-cam and no other platform and it is so HARD to grow on TH-cam compared tic tok. I have been consistent for years on TH-cam and just started growing and just hit 7000 subscribers. Not to mention the pay isn’t as good from 1 influencer to another good luck. You might wanna get a real job cause it’s hard as hell on TH-cam.

@@nbla39 I guess so! One thing that kind of gives it away is how the account posts some old TikToks that aren't up to date. I don't think Mikayla would sit and post old content. They also changed the name of the channel a few times. When Mikayla brought it up they removed her name and turned off comments on the community board.
Honestly, I really don't understand what everyone is losing their minds over. When Vine ended, people migrated, it didn't end careers; in fact, it catapulted some to more mainstream popularity. And TH-cam and Instagram already copied the TikTok formula with reels and shorts so the TikTokers wouldn't even have to change their formats. No one's careers would be 'over'

Apparently, only 20% of TikTok needs to be sold off for the platform to not be banned in the United States. Steve Mnuchin, Rumble, and a few others are already talking about pooling capital to purchase the 20%. So there may be more demands for freedom of speech on the platform after the purchase, but I think it will ultimately survive.
Young voters love TikTok and will probably vote against anyone who outlaws it.
That’s assuming they’ll come out to vote. Politicians don’t fear making young people angry because they’re so bad at voting (and that’s generational, it’s not just this generation). They do everything they can, and more, to appease elderly voters because they’ve learned to come out and vote because it’s the only way to get things done in the system we have. This *might* be a motivator to get them out, but it might cause even more apathy.

TikTok got banned in India in 2020, and the tiktokers/influencers took a massive hit when the content consumption was on peak during covid. Nevertheless, Instagram came out with reels soon after that and now that’s all the hype for short-form content.

I do not support banning any platform, I come from an authoritarian country and I know first hand the impacts of banning. BUT I want these TikTok influencers being humbled as they think they are above us mere mortals.

I don’t have TikTok but I do think that the creators could adjust to other platforms. Their audiences would likely move with them and/or also need to find other platforms to watch content if they are mostly watching TikTok content. Of course any shift would be an adjustment, but that goes with any other career, changes with technology, markets, etc.
