This would have been a better how to build video, if you would have walked everybody through the steps, instead of skipping to the stand already being put together.
Great video. I'm building one for a lady right now. Her tank is 36 x 18. The stand I'm building is 40 x 23. I have corner supports and now I'm starting to worry that it needs to be the same size as the tank due to where the real support is. on the outside edge where the leg supports are. Can you give any thoughts on this? Thank you Vicki
If the stand is already built, add another board (2×4) inside the top frame where the tank will sit as a cross brace. By the time you add one on each end of the stand it should put you real close to being under the tank. I would attach to both the outer brace and the front and back of the frame.
Top & bottom boxes: 4 - 13 1/2" 4 - 52" Uprights: 4 - 29 3/4" 4 - 23 1/4" Plywood cut to fit over the boxes but not necessary, I just prefer it. As for total cost, wood price change too much to speculate but I would say you can build 2 stands for the price of a regular 55g stand and those won't hold the two 20gs underneath.

Now I have a 20 gallon high that I’ve had for the longest time with different types of fish and I’m thinking about upgrading to a 75 or 55 and looking to do it as cheap as possible. What is the total build cost of the stand? I know the price of wood is up right now but what did you pay to build it My dad is a contractor so should have no problem building it lol. Dude can plan out and build an entire fish tank stand and film it, edit it, and post it on TH-cam, but can't change the batteries in his smoke alarm LMAO
