    Joe Bonamassa really won me over with his unabashed love of the electric guitar. If he didn't play a single note I'd still love the guy. The history of the electric guitar is super interesting and Joe isn't "just" the modern blues giant - he's one of the world's leading experts on vintage guitars.

      from Joe's other videos, he's not modern, that's not his gig anymore, he's playing through antique tweed amps with vintage guitars , his pedal board is a wayhuge custom pedal and a wah pedal. He's moved away from "being a slave to the technology"

    I love the knowledge Joe has about guitars and amps, and the way he plays and sings. Joe made the strat sound super fine and is so right about Leo Fender being a genius, in the 1950’s they produced some of the best sounding guitars and amps ever made.

    Hello Kentucky! The first vintage Les Paul that I bought was at the Doo Wop Shop on Bardstown Rd. in early 73'. I was visting my Grandma who lived on Bonnycastle! It was a 53 'at a cheap price. 225 bucks Traded it with some cash for a 60' Sunburst 6 months later. Also got a great deal on a 52 Martin d-18 in Louisville - a hundred bucks 74'.

    YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND WHEN THEY HAD THE " WANT-AD BOOKLET" ON THE NEWS STANDS IN THE BALTO /WASH AREA, WHEN RARE FINDS WERE SOLD CHEAP. BOUGHT A 1969 FENDER STRAT FOR 125.00 AND A LESPAUL STD. AND A ES-335 CHERRY COND BOTH FOR 300.00 IN THE EARLY 70'S . UNBELIEVABLE !

    I liken the Strat and Les Paul to two iconic sports cars. The Strat is a Corvette, a little more sleek, not too bold but refined and fast. The Les Paul is like a Shelby Cobra, a sum of it's parts, muscle and bold.

    • @garypaquin9571

      Hendrix wasn't crap but he was a musical thief. He took the Chicago sound that he learned from Buddy Guy and sold it to the Brits as his own. Ripped off Clapton's "woman tone" and tons of Cream licks. Pete Townsend had the idea of lighting a guitar at Monterey. He told Hendrix and Jimi lit his guitar up at the end of his act before the Who took the stage
      Jimi had good taste but he was a magpie.

    The Tele does the zeppelin thing well because jimmi page used a tele most of the early tracks of zep. I would've thought that Joe would know that?

    • @klaa22
      @klaa22 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That's exactly what Joe says. . He says the Tele was used on the early Zepp stuff . . even though Jimmy was generally known for using the Les Paul

    • @evanherb5900
      @evanherb5900 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      He just meant Jimmy was known for the LP because he played it live and it became associated with his image, and acknowledged in the video that the Tele did a lot of the real work in the studio.

    In the 1970's I met a carpet layer who lived outside Seattle. He had a 1956 Sunburst Strat that he never learned to play. It had the original strings on it, paperwork, case and a Champ Amplifier. He would not sell it just because he was a pack rat. His barn was full of "stuff". He's my be dead by now.

    That's because of the big business stores like GC etc .... killed the Ma & Pop stores ....
    Mass garbage just to make cash. Production for cash over quality.
    It's sad, but you can still find some but they are difficult.

    • @e.l.norton
      @e.l.norton 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a PART of it. Not all of it. Vintage shops like Joe talks about...they used to be fairly commonplace. I had four within ten miles of where I lived. All gone. We're talking places whose walls were lined with big ticket guitars, vintage amps stacked on the floor, and a handful of newer, affordable guitars. The internet killed a lot of those places.

    your clothes are like a passport! you have the guitars and the ephemera to prove that you have been there and done that. you are a collector, and you have my loving admiration and validation. Now play some blues that evokes that hard life that you have once lived. Go and spank that plank white boy!

    Not to be a party pooper but the Strat was designed by two players - Leo paid them as "consultants" - all of thier preferences were used- when people say Leo " designed" the strat they are rewriting history!!!!

    • @LfunkeyA
      @LfunkeyA 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      pretty sure he designed it together with them, their input being mostly feedback. also, a lot of the strat 'innovations' were already on the tele.

    Old video clip but in recent months the number of articles about Leo being a total jerk and not coming up with as much as he is credited with, and who actually came up with the humbucker etc has made the lore less fun. I enjoy guys playing the old ones though because I can’t even try one, so that’s nice.

    To joe Bon-a-massa....
    A question whatsoever, what key or keys no one or seldom play in, and why,
    Would take the chance and even chains up...?
    I am sorry but this net looks like that sword that cuts in both edges, Lots of good stuff nevertheless things that waste your fractions play in the mix as well
    Deleted...depleted. In clear, good nice pleasing music versus bad annoying sounds, like metal for instances.....
    Sorry again for asking.
