My Love for and eclectic taste in music, all started with the amazing Lynn Anderson. I can't tell you how many copies of each and everyone of her albums I wore out over the years and had to replace. My heart will always put country music first. But I love all genres and have Ms Lynn Anderson to thank for inspiring that. There will never be a time when she isn't missed.
Couldn't believe she died so suddenly and unexpectedly back in 2015. Lynn will always be among the top female country stars in my eyes. Connie Smith is such a great lady, happy to see her here with her memories of Lynn.
Lynn remains one of my most cherished memories. She was on one of her first tours, with the headliner Red Foley and the just-getting-going Glen Campbell in Sept. 1967. She'd had a couple of hits, but "Rose Garden" was still about 3 years away. She led off the show and when she finished, she headed up the aisle (theatre-in-the-round) to where I was standing. I was a DJ at the big country music station in town, so I introduced myself to her and she suggested that we have a seat and visit. After a few minutes, Glen hit the stage for his part of the evening. Within about a minute, Lynn started singing harmony with Glen, but I was the only one who could hear her, so I had my own private stereo concert going. She had a long string of Country Music hits and truly was one of the leading ladies on the many records. I really enjoyed my time with her.
We ran into her at Sky City Casino, NM She was staying there,She apparently met a Native American Gentleman at the Swimming pool, she brought him on stage, we were fortunate to get to experience the Comedian side of Lynn,as well as her sweet voice.Rest in Peace Lynn
when I was 6 or 7 , I got a little organ for Christmas, lived in Tulsa at that time and the first song I learned on it was I Never promised you a rose garden. then I grew up listening to her music. she was one of my favorites.
I had the opportunity to meet and work with Lynn Anderson in the early 1980's. CBC Television's "Tommy Hunter Show" Studio 7 Toronto. Just so nice, polite, humble and very professional all at the same time. During the rehearsals I got to experience her talent without listening to her over a sound system in the studio. Just a mind blowing, never to be forgotten experience. The real deal folks.
I went to school with her at American River College in Sacramento, California back in the 60's before she was famous. She sat right next to me in Professor Kohler's Psychology 101 class. She was a friendly, sweet person. In a few months it will be a year since she passed away. The time keeps marching on.

A little surprised to see George Jones monument. In Hollywood at Forest Lawn, you would be amazed at how many celebrities have terribly humble grave markers. By comparison, there are only a very few who go all out, but at Forest Lawn they do it with Greek statues, not the kind of thing like Mr. Jones has, but hey, to each their own I guess.
Lynn Anderson's song,"Rose Garden" was a lot like me. Especially, promising any man a Rose Garden. I guess I'm set in my ways too! But, there's still hope for someone special, I haven't met them yet! 😊
