There’s a pretty old Nigerian cult horror movie called Billionaires Club, where a man sacrifices his new born child to a cult for riches and a witch grinds the baby up in a cauldron. When I first watched the VVITCH, the similar baby grinding scene reminded me of the horror I felt as a child when I first watched Billionaires Club. The idea of grinding a human with a pestle is so insane, but to do such to a baby is a level of brutality you cannot forget, even if it’s just a movie.
Elegantly stated. This was EXACTLY my reaction to that scene and that movie. Really fucked with me for a few days and still sticks in my mind as such an excruciatingly visceral watch.
Nah, you can't interpret this movie's plot as a mass halucination. There are too many things that cannot be explained as such. The witch and evil powers definetly existed in this movie's universe.
The VVITCH is definetly one of my favorite horror movies. Sure, it is spooky from time to time but the emotional bombardment of feeling sorry for Thomasin and the slow but steady decline of the familys sanity is so well done. And I totaly agree with "some scenic moments are longer than they should be". Just uneasy the whole 92 minutes rly
"You would probably like this bc you have unresolved issues" HELP LMFAO RUDE you right tho bc most of the people who like this movie have serious mommy issues 😂😭
Since the church of satan lady was wearing an inverted cross necklace, I feel the need to let everyone who doesn't know that the inverted cross is a christian symbol. It is called the cross of St. Peter because St. Peter requested to be crucified upisde down since he felt unworthy to die in the same way as Jesus. People who use this symbol are essentialy saying they're big fans of the first pope/one of the most important figures in Christianity
The reality is that it's Pagan it was pushed by Constantine who was an Atheist but realized that killing people was converting people into a covenant with our creator. He sought to blend his pagan beliefs with those of the bible and called it "Christianity" he added Christmass (which isn't even close to Yeshua's actual birth but Mythra's) and in the first church of Christianity there was idols "gods" until Constantine decided to adopt the cross instead. We must not worship idols it's said. Think about it, if Jesus was put in an electrical chair would people be worshipping that? Wearing necklaces around their necks of that? That is not Christian and to bring the upside down cross into this as a redeeming symbol that somehow it isnt satanic or even more pagan is also extremely foolish and lacks any desire to fully research historical context.
While the cross should not be viewed as a special thing in or of itself, it can serve as a fantastic reminder of the sacrifice. If you take exception to the way the crucifix and iconography was used by the Roman Catholic Church….congratulations - you’re in the company of pretty much the rest of Christianity (except Eastern Orthodox, but I’m not as familiar with this one so any Eastern Orthodox who read this feel free to correct me). As regards things like Christmas; the holidays might have pagan origins. But, even if they do, the Bible also talks about how meat sacrificed to idols is just meat. So, if your conscience dictates to you not to celebrate Christmas, then don’t - but a pagan celebration that has been Christian-ized is not unbiblical to celebrate, particularly if it helps you remember or think about Christ and the good gifts God has provided like family, friends, and food. It’s integral, as Christians, that we hold to the two great commandments given to us: love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself, and that we not be distracted with specific, legalistic tendencies. God’s not so weak that a plastic Santa can overthrow Him and Christianity’s not so stiff that a Christian can’t enjoy a sprinkled cookie. Instead, in Christianity we have a freedom which we are to utilize in order to best help and love the people around us, not a chain so we can be bound to pharisaical methods.
Cool historical fact, the reason why witches normally always have a broom in fantasy or mythological stories, is because women WAYYYY back then would rub some weird concoction on brooms and then rub their nether bits on the broom where the concoction is for self pleasure (look it up, this is legit).
