Now THIS is how to write a scene for a comedy! I miss this kind of writing.

@@leqesai It was critically acclaimed, but the network cancelled after 5 seasons. Such a shame!

This episode I think is absolutely the funniest Taxi episode ever. Great show!

The saddest moment is when Jim tells his dad that he loves him, and his father hangs up on him. I'm a father of two adult children and those words light my life up like nothing else.

wasn't this the same episode that ended with Jim finding a note with a tape recorder that had a song on it that Jim's dad said was what he thought of when he thought of Jim? and it was Stevie Wonder's "you are the sunshine of my life"? it was a great and unexpected emotional ending.

Jim's Dad already showed how much he loved Jim by paying off Louie and getting his job back.

The amount Louie settles on would be a little over $80K in 2021 money.

You know, during the filming of THE PRINCESS BRIDE, Wallace Shawn convinced himself that Reiner had ACTUALLY wanted Danny DeVito for the role of Vizzini. In actuality, Reiner had ALWAYS wanted Shawn, and I think we can all agree that Shawn was the absolutely perfect Vizzini.
But watching this scene, you can see that Shawn had a point. DeVito couldn't have done Vizzini BETTER than Shawn, but listen to that laugh, and that careful logic in outwitting your opponent, and think, "Clearly, I cannot choose the cup in front of YOU"... it could have worked.
