Mancha and Gato were Criollo horses. Tschefflys Ride is a wonderful book about a man who rode from Patagonia to New York in the thirties. Probably out of print now, but well worth finding.
I own one of the few Criollos in the UK, I bought her from Germany in 2019. She's very calm, except for plastic bags, and quite lazy. I used to own a Quarter Horse, they're both stock horses, when they aren't being asked to work they take life very easily, preserving their energy. Her major problem is lush English grass, she gets incredibly fat very easily, we joke that she's genetically programmed to spend days on the pampas looking for the odd blade.
@@sandrajenkins6822 I have never seen a skinny, lightweight Criollo :-) The area of the Pampa Humeda (Humid Pampa, there is also a Dry Pampa area) covers approximately 231,662 square miles, no shortage of grass there. They just tend to be chubby!
Don't overfeed. Don't put them on frresh spring grass. Paso type horses are very easy to founder. Less food is better for them. They are easy keepers. They don't need much to eat. Also, they are more primitive type of horse. So they will eat any kind of roughage and do well. Weeds nd brush, and more like couch grass and course grass than blue grass and brome and alfalfa. Alfalfa is too rich a feed for them. And little to no grain to feed them. Unless they are working very hard. Which modern horses never do work hard and have mamy rest spells. Even if they do work hard and lose some weight Don't worry. Don't feed them more. They gain weight back easily.
Criollo horse is a amazing reining horse too. Look for Duque do Cajaara, this horse is fantastic. There are others horses like Infinito do Itapororo, Leopardo do Infinito, Las Cajanas Jualito etc
Painted is likely tovero, tobiano, leopard, ect. The mark in Criollos is most likely sabino, though those with excessive marks and pink skin are disallowed from breeding.
@@xindelnebula7026 Why is that? I am considering to buy a pale almost like albino Criollo with small black dots. Is this out of the standards? Do they have health issues?
@@osaka2554 I'm not sure why, I've just read that excessive white marks are disallowed. That was on the Argentine Criollo as well, idk for sure about the others but I would assume it is because they'd be easier to sunburn. White animals in general have a harder time in hot climates because of sunburning.
Ok, for the record, I am fearful of large animals (horses). I started learning about them in order to get over my fear. I started with farriers videos on , then found Steve Young Horsemanship, hoping to gain some knowledge. I stopped here b/c I have never heard of this breed.
Hi friend , let me tell you some....this is a work breed horse and i will drop here 2 links....the first link its a competition of agility....the second one its the work competition [what this agility can do on the fields , ´´the work´´ per say]......enjoy. th-cam.com/video/SEOOQ8b6Vdo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/naHZwcifWfU/w-d-xo.html Greetings from Japan😊
So where did creole horses come from? European horses brought over? From where? You don’t discuss dna, just current sales. Morphological? We talk about conformation in horses, which are measured in hands, not centimeters. For an English speaking audience this is irritating. Do these horses work cattle or what do they do?
I have to assume these videos are AI generated....believe we can tell!!!!!!! So happy to know the one top stallion has access to water daily! Some nice horses here, but I would rather not be lectured by a robot.
The double LL is actually a "single" letter of the alphabet - and it has its own name. It comes after the "L" when you recite the alphabet.. it looks like "...F, G,H, I, J, K, L, LL, M, N,..." The "rr" is 1 letter of the alphabet as well.. Search for the Spanish language version of the alphabet recital. (So English has 24 letters, Spanish has 26.)
@@SM-ie8gnThis is not a Spanish (from Spain) breed, thus in Argentina it will sound closer to ‘y’ but the double Ll, which sounds a little softer, is used just as often.

Why can't commentators pronounce Spanish correctly? This breed should be pronounced Cree - OH - Yo. The double ll sounds like a Y. He also mangles the colors, calling a black and white sabino a grulla (and mispronouncing the word.) I gave up watching this because the narration was so annoying. And also I need to go out and clean the horse corrals.
I didn't know that Criollo horses could be in so many different colors. They are beautiful horses. Thank you for sharing. LLAP

One of my favourite books and I still have a copy that I got 40 years ago
Yes! Great story. Remember the lightning strike in the mountains? I watched the video wondering if the book might be mentioned. Thanks!
I had a book with a section on it when I was a young boy. You just unlocked a childhood memory

Perhaps she grazes on high sugar and high protein cattle grass without herbs? ;)

Light looking bay with blaze and four white socks Stunning
Absolutely gorgeous horses!!! Magnificent stallions!!!And a sweet temperament!!❤❤❤❤
que legal ver o nosso PRESTIO DO ITAÓ no video !
um forte abraço
Excellent video thanks for the vdeo and time 👍
I had never heard of this breed, but they are absolutely stunning. I especially loved the roan and grullo stallions.
Very sweet....... Interesting, I must check this out in more detail....
Pleasant narrator, too.
I’m finding bad pronunciation of last syllables. BascA HoladA. It’s BascO HoladO. Getting lazy or AI?

Could pronounce the name right
@@tolotolo2380 Was it not the Spanish pronunciation?

Measurement in hands is only used in English speaking counties. In Latin America, which uses metric measurements, we use centimeters and meters.

beautiful horse

Conformation very like Morgan's in the North of America

Spanish CRUELTY, ABUSE OF ANIMALS, BULL MURDER
(also called bull fighting👹)
Centimeters? We measure horses in hands.

PRONOUNCIATION OF BREED NAME: a double "l" is pronounced as a "y". So its Cri O Yo.
Is this true for Spain Spanish or for Latin American Spanish or both?

Short horses 😮
Many great horse breeds - like the Arabian - start at 14.2 hands - were ponies officially end.
Shorter legs,long backs?
Would have been nice to give some knowledge of the breeds that went into the creation of the Crillo. Other than that, it was a good video.
It says at around 44 seconds in. Andalusian and something else from 16th century Iberian peninsula.
