Eunhye Jeong is a creative musician, composer, and pianist based in Korea, who returned to Seoul after studying jazz piano and film scoring at the Berklee College of Music, which she attended in 2009. Over the years following her graduation, she was influenced by artists such as Vijay Iyer, Tyshawn Sorey, and members of the AACM, and studied Ankhrasmation under Wadada Leo Smith. With a career enriched by professional collaborations with world-renowned musicians including Wadada Leo Smith, Douglas Ewart, Joe McPhee, Michael Bisio, Simon Barker, and Scott Tinkler, Jeong has released 8 records to date, including albums from New York labels like the legendary free jazz label ESP-Disk’ and 577 Records. During her frequent travels between Boston and Korea, she encountered Pansori master Ildong Bae, leading to her exploration of the traditional vocal art form and collaborations such as the 2019 album ‘Chi-Da’ and live performances, including two nights with Simon Barker and Scott Tinkler at the Suncheonman International Garden Expo. This sequence features an improvised trio with Seungjae Lee, a violinist who recently returned to Korea after his studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Moving from calm to frentic and back, a deep, heart wrenching performance by the three of you. Each of you made the most of your instruments and how each other blended with each other for support and contrast.
