I forget that Vegeta has a pretty decent redemption arc. He thought being evil is what made him the best warrior...but it was actually the power of friendship xD

@@blakenapier3125 I don't necessarily agree. Sometimes, when a person has been abused and living in fear their whole life, and then they finally find peace, happiness and even love, it changes them. Make no mistake. Vegeta was absolutely TERRIFIED of Frieza in the Namek arc. One piece of writing I hated is when Vegeta was just prison raping Golden Frieza, I mean savagely pummeling him, once again, it had to be The Son Of God to save us. The whole destroying Earth and rewinding time thing wasn't necessary. Frieza is on the ground, and Vegeta looks down at him. "This is for my Father, my people and my planet. Go to Hell." Frieza is vaporized. But slowly. I mean 25 seconds of screaming. Vegeta remains a good daddy, but a BADASS one, and Vegeta gets his revenge for Namek, which was the sickest, most vile beating and humiliation I've ever seen in anime. Vegeta NEEDED to k**l him. But, no. We couldn't get that. I love Goku for what he is, but it gets old.
This was the best arc of dbz ever. Majin Vegeta was so badass & relatable…it was hard to even pull for Goku. Regardless of right or wrong, you understood the overdue dispute & how inevitable it was. And you saw his respect for Gohan more in his Majin state than ever before. You can tell when Gohan says “does it really matter??” And Vegeta explains it due to his respect for Gohan as a Saiyan…then the Supreme Kai basically says the same thing that Gohan did in a different way & Vegeta absolutely loses control over it. So well written.
Honestly even in the context of the lore this is probably the most intense battle between 2 Saiyans in history. 2 Saiyans that achieved power even beyond that of the legendary super saiyan battling it out for the pure sport of it. All their Saiyan ancestors probably looking on with pride.
When vegeta gives his speech, you can see how goku completely understands and acknowledges him, not much is said about gokus benevolence but he wanted to give vegeta his fight, because he respects another true warrioe

@@manga4u563nonsense, if anything it would have given him even longer. @@Ontiming2023 💯. Also people don't understand how epic the Bruce Falconer soundtrack made these fights as well. One of the reasons I was bummed out with DBZ kai
17:59 not only is the animation absolutely sick, but just listen to the how brutal those blocked/hits sound. These two were pinnacle level (goku holding back of course) just tearing it tf up. This is what makes DBZ so perpetually amazing
That and despite the intense fighting, you can tell that he's still holding back like 15%. He's not going all out like he was against Frieza. Just a solid match that he wanted to have before going back to afterlife.
11:13 "You're not going to win! Not this time!" I just now realized that he was referring to their very first beam struggle in the saiyan saga. Damn, it's the little things.
This fight was excellent animated. You can feel the emotion and the passion. This is not just a fight you can watch and forget. Vegeta and Goku are using all of their experiences and their determination. You can feel Vegeta's fury and pain and the blows they are delivering each other are brutal. It might well be the final fight of the arc. You can also understand the guilt that Vegeta felt later. He voluntarily became a slave, accepted a senzu bean, cheated his way to a win against Goku and helped create Buu. His pride guided his actions like it always done but his actions diminished his pride.
That Bruce falcouner score was legendary man. DB Super's music sounds like something from sonic the hedgehog or mega man... "Go, Go, Go, Go power ranger, Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Your in danger!" was wild.
0:45 Vegeta's coldest moment. These weren't nameless aliens to him anymore. They were Earthlings, the people he lived with. And he murdered them in cold blood just to goad Kakarot into the fight he wanted. Ice fucking cold.
they greatest chracter development in all anime happened with vegeta. but having chris sabats putting all his emotion into this character is the chefs kiss
I like how Vegeta is sweating throughout the beginning of the video / beginning of the fight. Vegeta wants to fight really bad but he is also on edge because he knows Goku is nothing to f**k with.
"Do you really believe what you're saying?" Goku asks. I don't think Vegeta really does. The fact that Goku is able to talk sense to him at the end shows Vegeta didn't go full blown evil just because he wanted to.
He probably blasted some people just to ensure goku fought him. Vegeta could have nuked the entire stadium and knew that every competent person would survive, but that wouldn't ensure goku fought. So it was better that he left some people alive.
Vegeta’s rivalry with Goku eventually evolved into a form of respect. Despite their differences, Goku’s constant surpassing of Vegeta drove him to grow stronger, but also to reconsider what true strength meant. Goku’s kind-hearted nature and dedication to protecting others influenced Vegeta over time. When Vegeta willingly lets Babidi possess him in exchange for greater power, it represents his final attempt to regain his former ruthlessness and overcome Goku. However, after realizing that power gained through hatred is hollow, and seeing the impact on his family, Vegeta sacrifices himself to protect Earth, marking his redemption. Its a very special moment to us fans.
Vegeta needed this fight in order to become who he was changing into. Goku realized this. Even though all this stuff was going on, and it involved the kais, as saiyans they did have an old blood feud to settle, and power level isn’t necessarily the determining factor in a warrior’s bout of skill. In the time I grew up, there were things we settled with fists that words could never achieve. I believe this was goku showing his grace knowing how long vegeta had worked on his own to try and keep up, and how detrimental it was to his character that this effort be not in vain… Goku is truly underrated as far as his character, and how he shows up for literally everyone, barely out of one fight and right into the next, or preparation for it… This mindset forges a Champion of Champions.
Goku low key wanted this fight too. He just can't resist a very good challenge. Just look how badly he wanted to fight Beerus even though he knew he was a God.
This fight was balanced in a way: Goku's body being already dead made him more durable despite the stamina drain reducing his time on earth vs Vegeta's tricking Babidi for a powerboost
@fdfgaming9076 well, if you're already dead, you don't have to worry about dying. So since death isn't a worry on Gokus mind in this fight, maybe he pushed himself harder than he would have were he still alive? Idk lol. I just love re-watching this shit 20+ years later lol
@@fdfgaming9076 Goku warned Vegeta while he was fighting Buu on the Kai planet that he was more durable while dead, but, that if he died again in that state he would be gone forever.
@Ontiming2023 In the DB/Z verse, it's perfectly acceptable. Rewatch the scene as Vegeta offers to "detain" Buu while Goku rests for a few minutes. That was the first time anyone laid out the ground rules for what happens if you "die" fighting someone alive while already dead.

stronger than goku and nothing more. i doupt he rly questioned if he is good or bad, he just wanted to have the powerboost of babidi's magic imho and didn't cared 'bout life's of foreign people, as usual. vegeta is imo in general a rly 1d character, only used to explain certain things (to the viewer) when its needed and in order to give goku a friend rival and companion, which's not weak as fuck like krillin and the other z fighter losers. vegeta in bdz is unsympathetic and unneccessary.
The funny thing is that if vegeta wasn't always fueled by anger, he would be as strong or maybe even stronger than goku
Vegeta has the best character development in Z. This fight was a long time coming, what a masterful combination of setting and narrative.
Vegeta completing his character arc is what makes the Buu saga worth watching. IMO, he's the best character in Z, because he has the most growth.
"It will take more than head games to stop me! You may have invaded my mind and my body. But there's one thing a saiyan always keeps... HIS PRIIIIIDEEEEEEEE!!!" Vegeta looks so freaking menacing, I love it!!!🔥🔥🔥

@@user.-ks5dl He wasn’t just a “Freeza copycat”. He had the dna of Piccolo, Vegetable, Goku, Krilllin, & Tien. He had the ability to almost always come back from the brink of death which helped to give him a boost of power near the end which only Gohan in SSJ2 could stand up against. Classic DBZ🔥🔥🔥 i dont know how they lost this touch😭
dbs is much better in my opinion. dbz looks rly old and seems to age not well. i am not sure if the anime dbz is older than me (im 20) but it seems like it. 90% of dbz is just screaming in order to achieve another form and they say they're fighters but actually they nearly just blast ki attacs the whole time when they are not screaming and powering up and the fights lacks of hand to hand combat very often. they're not martial artists or fighters they're more gunslingers therefore😂😂😂

The animation is S-Tier for an anime in the 90’s period.
I forget that Vegeta has a pretty decent redemption arc. He thought being evil is what made him the best warrior...but it was actually the power of friendship xD

Go to Hell."
Frieza is vaporized. But slowly. I mean 25 seconds of screaming.
Vegeta remains a good daddy, but a BADASS one, and Vegeta gets his revenge for Namek, which was the sickest, most vile beating and humiliation I've ever seen in anime.

Very well said.

Goku should have just gone SSJ3 right here and KO'd Vegeta in a nanosecond, then teleported to Babidi and globaled him and Dabura in a five second clean up tour. There, Buu threat eliminated.
True but it wouldn’t make for an interesting story
It would have exhausted his time on earth.
@@manga4u563nonsense, if anything it would have given him even longer. Instead of having to use SSJ3 to fight Buu to a standstill for an extended period of time, he could have gone SSJ3 literally right here, one shot Vegeta, then teleported to Babidi and eliminated him and Dabura. It would have taken all of ten seconds to wrap up the Babidi saga and completely prevent the Buu saga from even occurring.

Yeah heck even Vegeta said that he thought he did during Dragon ball GT but it turned out that Vegeta admitted to Goku that he was right.

Vegeta needed this fight in order to become who he was changing into. Goku realized this.
Even though all this stuff was going on, and it involved the kais,
as saiyans they did have an old blood feud to settle, and power level isn’t necessarily the determining factor in a warrior’s bout of skill.
In the time I grew up, there were things we settled with fists that words could never achieve.
I believe this was goku showing his grace knowing how long vegeta had worked on his own to try and keep up, and how detrimental it was to his character that this effort be not in vain…

I don't think him being dead did anything for his durability lol
@fdfgaming9076 well, if you're already dead, you don't have to worry about dying. So since death isn't a worry on Gokus mind in this fight, maybe he pushed himself harder than he would have were he still alive?
