  • Alternative Pathways to the Insolvency Profession: Katie's Journey
Katie began her career in insolvency at 16, unknowingly stepping into her future. Initially seeking an admin job, she soon found her calling in insolvency, foregoing her psychology dreams.
After a crisis of confidence and a brief hiatus in admin roles, Katie faced rejection for lacking a degree. She turned to Open University, balancing work and studies, and graduated in 2019. Her success, driven by hard work and passion, led her to Middlebrooks, a transformative career move.
Despite challenges in a male-dominated industry, Katie persisted. She passed the joint insolvency exams on her fourth attempt, becoming a fully licensed insolvency practitioner. Speaking at the R3 conference, she shared her unique perspective.
Katie's journey proves there's no single path to success. It's about finding passion and pursuing it relentlessly. As they say in Scotland, "what's for you will not go by you."
