Nostalgic to the the 90s. This song and Enya save me from a suicide attempt in my teenage years. The lyrics and tunes helped me to walk and kept on and I joined the Marines and now, a veteran. Nonetheless, the Right Music can heal and saves you in Trial times.
People nowadays have no idea how huge this woman was. This was before social media, baby internet stage. MTV played music, B.E.T. played music. Radio was awesome. 4 Grammy nominations for 4 different songs on the same album and album of the year. Can’t remember if she won , I guess I could google but I prefer another fan tell me the answer.
When 90% of your childhood was bad, her songs remind me of the good times feels like home and definitely a good staple in time, my mom tried did her best💔. I sound like her I will take lessons when I can ❤❤❤
Such a great anthem for giving yourself permission to go all in, give of yourself, accept that to give much is to risk losing much, to learn as you go and keep taking the risk of love's vulnerability.
Listening to this has me crying. This song is so liberating. U make mistakes in life but it's not the end. You LEARN from your mistakes and you're still here. Life is about LEARNING. I don't have to wallow in what I did or didn't do I'll be ok. Wish I caught on as a kid to this song
Well, you still have to take conscience about the consequences of your acts before feeling "liberated", otherwise it´s just self-indulgence. But the song certainly sounds sweeeet
Heard this song as a child and now listen to it as an adult..... man how good is this song so true the lyrics! You don’t understand it until your a grown up and man o man 😱
My elementary graduation song way back 1996…I’m not happy with the teacher’s choice really, but my father made me realize the meaning of the song…and now that I’m old, I’ve learned…. Always love this song… ❤️❤️
The greatest gift to mankind is learning from every area of our life . For some it takes more pain than others . Eventually we will be disciplined. One way or the other
"The fire trucks are comin' up around the bend". That line makes me think of a time in childhood when a little friend accidentally set a neighbor's yard on fire while we were shooting firecrackers. I think he learned from that!
Oh, oh, oh I, recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone, yeah I, recommend walking around naked in your living room, yeah Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill) It feels so good (swimming in your stomach) Wait until the dust settles You live you learn, you love you learn You cry you learn, you lose you learn You bleed you learn, you scream you learn I, recommend biting off more than you can chew to anyone I certainly do I, recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time Feel free Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind) Hold it up (to the rays) You wait and see when the smoke clears You live you learn, you love you learn You cry you learn, you lose you learn You bleed you learn, you scream you learn I, I, oh, oh Wear it out (the way a three-year-old would do) Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually, anyway) The fire trucks are coming up around the bend You live you learn, you love you learn You cry you learn, you lose you learn You bleed you learn, you scream you learn You grieve you learn, you choke you learn You laugh you learn, you choose you learn You pray you learn, you ask you learn You live you learn
A jagged little pill album full of emotional energy of a beautiful female artist name alanis m wow an amazingly beautiful woman God bless her for it to😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
The world can sing along to the same song yet it means something different to everyone. Thats the power behind music it doesnt even need to make sense 💙
I can't wait to learn and do an acoustic cover of this, recorded, of course - I love all her vocal inflections and variations I really want to nail emulating each one. At 40 now, I can no longer hit every note as I once could and did, which is probably for the best, personally it usually creeps me out or at LEAST irks me when men with range sing while impersonating a female artist, so I'll have to see if it sounds better strummed a half-step (eb) or WHOLE step down ... I'll add my usual accoutrements and clever assortment of overdubs to get a nice, full, cover/version rendition but..m The only question remains, which I now throw to you: To drum or not to drum 🥁? I imagine it'd be easy to find a similar (if not THE same exacting drum machine she used) sounding drum machine. Or I can truly go "d.i.y." home-grown organic and sample hits into fashioning a comperable 'kit', or simply invent a brand new loop in tempo to use. All of which, to me, are appealing excursions to embark on... But does it NEED it? Some of my favorite covers on here (by others and yes even some of mine) are just performer and guitar, I feel like a truly bombastic showy song to sing like this would only have focus detracted from the vocal with drumming. Personally, I'm leaning towards just doing a very well produced, acoustic cover with my meticulously learned vocal line and some nice ambiance and subtle electric guitar leads, fills and effects (as per usual)... But again, I'm asking Y-O-U👍 WHAT do you think Would a well-crafted cover interpretation of this song in a similar tempo REQUIRE the drum machine? Yes? Or no? The best, JAY
I'm 16 in two months and my dad showed me this song and told me to listen to the words and I never thought a song will help me so much im now yr 11 doing better then ever
I feel like "swallow it down what a jagged little pill" is a metaphor for taking a risk that could end it all like a suicide. But if you live through it. You will learn from it. When she says "The firetrucks are coming up around the Bend" i feel like she is saying *oh shit u did it now*. When she says "you wait and see when the smoke clears". She is saying *if u didnt know the severity of your actions then, you will once this shit hits the fan*. Idk i could be wrong but this entire album touched me as a kid and I am black. I put so many ppl onto this. One friend has passed on since and i remember us being really young sitting on the steps in our neighborhood singing every track like we were grown and really understood life. I wish he was here now to reflect. What an amazing album. What a great time to be alive. Timeless.

Glad you didn't act on those feelings :) There have been quite a few days when listening to Alanis helped me come out of a depressed mood.
That’s wonderful Aiyan. Thank you for staying alive and serving our country . Alanis is a wonderful person and has probably saved millions of lives.
The power of music
My thoughts exactly...its a wonderful thing what music can do :)

Yeah. My household was 99% R&B and hip-hop growing up, but this album was still a staple for us.
When 90% of your childhood was bad, her songs remind me of the good times feels like home and definitely a good staple in time, my mom tried did her best💔. I sound like her I will take lessons when I can ❤❤❤
Imo her career went downhill after doing the movie Dogma.

Reminds of one summer in middle school. This was played at the outdoor pool all the time. I still sing it at the top of my lungs now at 38 years old 💕

When this song was played, I began understanding choices have consequences that one must acknowledge.
You didn't know that before Alanis morrisette

I love this song . I've been listening to it a lot lately .
"You live you learn " it's a great motto . I'm going to use it more often
Crazy how u don't understand the true power of lyrics til u grown.
Just what I was thinking. Did she write the song herself at such a young age?

Why is Alanis so cool?!!!
Coz she is mature now...ehehhehe
"Instrumental and vocals" ... you mean "the bridge"
Hellwyck 😂😂😂
Hahaha for those non musician types lol good comment
Better one nobody with a guitar explaining the obvious that it's the bridge than 50 people asking what the hell is the bridge.
Didn't realize the music police were needed. (They weren't)
LOL
Now that I am nearly 40 this song has so much more meaning to me
"What a jagged little pill.. It feels so good, swimming in your stomach" That's everything

I like this song as its give me to remember who I am, courage and believe in God and myself as in life do not give up in workk or life it self
Lyrics hit as hard in 2020 as they did in 1995
I wish I understood it in 1995☹️😂 Never mind, I do now
Perhaps an telepathic message to refer back to
