My friend Terry Luttrell used to play guitar in the "Majestics" with myself on Bass back in the 60's. We didn't even know he could sing then. It was awesome to see this video - brought back a lot of memories. I could tell you a lot of stories ... but I won't!

This is the real REO. Without this talented foundation there would have never been a cronin or any other shirttail rider. Cronin remolded a talented rock band into a teeny bop band, even though you can still hear the pure talent of Richrath and Doughty and the likes. If you ever heard REO's first album then you would understand, the music is the proof. To bad Richrath didn't stand HIS ground and tell Cronin to hit the road. Everybody still associates Richrath with REO, and always will. HIS BAND!

In 1978 I was a brand new sales rep at 98FM, THE LOOP, Chicago's #1 rock & roll station. I will tell you all something that most don't know ..... why should ya? But at that time it was still all about these bands being out pounding the bars, hitting the streets, and their people banging on radio station doors and begging them to play their singles. But in the 70's there was one thing that talked the loudest in the industry ...... COCAINE. And that is an absolute fact. I will tell you this, by 78, 79, REO had a lot of money behind them (relatively speaking), and people wanted to get them to the top. And justifiably so ..... they were a great band, with a monumental lead guitar in Richrath and a fantastic lead singer.
My point: a REO rep would come into the station back then at least once a month, 3 or 4 times during the day and meet with the on air talent .... and they would give out ounces of cocaine ..... OUNCES! And I watched it happen, so I tell it straight. Now many other band reps did the same, Foreigner, Journey, Heart (Heart reps gave major), and others. But one of our stations legendary DJ's from that time told me flat out, and I think he talks about it in his book, that REO reps sent him to rehab

Interesting story. Back in 1982 on the High Infidelity Tour they played in a very Unique venue called Castle Farms Music Theater in Charlevoix Mi, very up North of the State. I was friends with a couple local DJ's at the time and they got backstage passes. Instead of the pass saying Charlevoix, it said Charlecaine, which always amused me.

We went to hard Rock 1st, walked out on to Sunset Blvd, and a Limo was pulling up in front of this big Hotel. 5 seconds later Ace Freeley stumbled out of the hotel, just plastered. Gene got out of the limo, and helped him to the car. It was about 10:30 AM. Happened right in front of us, I was told Kiss was getting an award that night. True!

That's a Hohner Clavinet. The same keyboard that got that ultra funky tone "Superstition"

    It's called Money dude lol.
Man they were way better before they went pop. I remember bunch of us listening to them before anyone had hardly heard of them. We would put in the old 8 track and everyone would go, who is this? One of my all time favorite bands.
