Jerry Harrison & The Casual Gods performing Rev It Up & Man With A Gun and short interview.....Rick Dees filling in for Joan Rivers......Bernie Worrell in the house!
I've been to a lot of concerts, and seen a lot of the big boys play - Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Bryan Ferry, U2 (when they were cool!), Peter Gabriel, even the Pet Shop Boys. But the best live act I really got into, and loved every minute of it, was seeing Jerry Harrison and the Casual Gods play live at the Brisbane Expo back in '88. So freakin' funky! I was naturally a huge fan of Talking Heads, had seen Stop Making Sense, and I knew Jerry's backing band would be the same guys from Stop Making Sense. I left extremely satisfied...and then some.

I remember a couple of Heads tracks, but it was mostly stuff from Casual Gods.I wasn't even drinking, or anything beforehand, either, it's just that the details have faded. Possibly the adrenaline rush! Did you go?
I have had a crush on Jerry Harrison for many years Love vhs Jerrys' the coolest, man. And to think 5 years after this he produced the masterpiece album LIVE - THROWING COPPER.
His solo albums were massive, the first two were anyway. Rev It Up was cool but the radio wouldnt stop playing it and it used to drive me nuts. He did really well, maybe even better than some of the TH album sales. Tom Tom Club were bigger overall though.
That was certainly a hot, tight band he had. Good to have that support behind you. I saw some of them in the classic Talking Heads film "Stop making sense". Great players, great film.

When was U2 not cool?? I stopped following them avidly after the "Atomic Bomb" album, but I always thought they were "cool" in so much as they always followed their own path.

He had a big following, i'm not sure if he toured the world with this band but he did some promo on TV.
Talking Heads were my MCR when I was a teenager.
