of course we all would better go for original one, but not everybody wants to pay over 500 dollars for simple damper. Its too high price for me for scotts one..
I got lucky and bought one of the 'AliExpress' site for just US $98 plus $21 postage to Ireland (I think they're going between $130 - $170 from various Chinese sellers. It came with a mounting kit for my MT-09 Tracer INCLUDED. The unit itself looks and feels to be a good quality piece of kit and, the mounting kit is a lovely job! It doesn't come with instructions but the bracket is self explanatory. I downloaded the Scotts instruction sheet for setting information. Guess what? This Chinese 'knock-off' actually came with the base settings that Scotts recommend. This unit utilises 3 hydraulic circuits all of which perform exactly as they should. So far, I think it was a great buy but I'll give an honest report, good or bad, after a few months/miles use.
a lot of things are made in the same factory just with no name then the company gets a kick back. Where is scotts from, you think they are really making them here?
Hi, I got one of this for my tracer 900 and turn the two controls clockwise all the way to the max, and still is not that stiff like? Shouldn't it be really stiff if setting all the way up?
Hi there, can you tell me, where the black flat Z kinda shape piece go? When your installing it? Would really help, if you made a video of how to install the damper. Thanks. I have a Fz09 2017!
Hi, so i've found the "savage" brand one on aliexpress and ebay, but they dont come with mounting hardware - WHERE DO YOU BUY MOUNTING KITS FOR YOUR SPECIFIC MODEL/BRAND?????
I've got one on the way to me now from 'Aliexpress' for US $98.38 COMPLETE with a very tasty looking mounting kit for my MT-09 Tracer. Since I ordered it a couple of weeks ago the price has gone up 30%+ ..........still a shed loada dosh less than the 'opposition'.
Make a video of the internals.. there are videos of the scotts being taken apart, is it identical? A guy from scotts is on a thumpertalk thread also disputing the quality there. I wonder if its serviceable with scotts parts.
I got the Savage brand and please,,,SAVE your money and buy Scott's,,, right out of the box it was leaking oil. The box inside already had some oil spill. I manage to refill it hoping that it was just a fluke.. Unfortunately it is leaking. The settings are really useless for fine tuning. It goes many clicks and no change just the last 3 clicks it starts dampening. The material is soft. The lever has a lot of movement before it engages. Waste of money!!!!
I gave this to a friend to use on his Beta 300, and so far after many rides, and a few enduros, it's working perfectly. No complaints. I didnt have the clamps/mounts so until I get them, he will use it
Just a quick note I am in the industry have been for 25 years. I had a chance to test the Chinese unit. I did not purchase nor own the Chinese unit. For all of those consumers that have purchased or thinking of purchasing the Chinese knock off Scotts damper, it is not identical in function or craftsmanship. Just like the knock off mini bikes and Quads that the Chinese tried to copy from Honda they did the same thing to the damper unit. As you know those $500.00 bikes were cheap and worked but only for a short time. And when they broke you pretty much threw them away. There was no warranty. The same with damper. Why do you think it is so cheap. So what is the warranty on this Chinese unit? There isn't one. The Chinese unit "does not work." The Sweep controls are constant and don't change and the high speed does not work either. As far as the price goes I would rather spend the money knowing I have a quality part and reliable product support from a company that has been in business for over 40 years. So for all of those that want to keep motorcycling alive and have a 100% made USA product that does have a warranty and can be repaired, you might want to think twice before you buy knock off Chinese unit that had no proto typing, engineering, testing involved and no product support. If you want to keep motorcycle industry alive and well in the USA you should want to purchase product made here by that company not the copy that doesn't work. If you don't you are only accelerating the closing of more businesses and less product development for motorcycles and U.S. jobs.
I totally agree with you..there's a lot of mechanism that's not up to standard as the Original one.people think less R&D are the same as the high standard one..here's the example the Chinese steering damper the knob when you make readjustment is not precise as the Scotts steering damper as well as the damper resistance..

And I thought it was dumb to run a chinese front brake master cylinder for awhile-- This could put you into a tree. And its virtually unserviceable, right?
Corptatorships don't care about the subjects (citizens). People do what makes sense, ie. pay less. Unfortunately free markets aren't the reasons why products cost less and have higher quality in many cases, it's lower costs because of trade and world banking cronies, and quality always suffers.
This Chinese piece of junk it’s only the damper itself. You still have to buy the Mount add the pin from Scott. So in the end you’re still spending a lot of money and not saving enough money to make it worth putting up with an inferior piece of junk.

Michael Sweigart did he buy a genuine fitting kit for his bike?
of course we all would better go for original one, but not everybody wants to pay over 500 dollars for simple damper.

@Michael RedCrow yep
welll designed but its essentially a compartment filled with oil and valves

Hello, if you had Scotts damper - please make a compare - it would be very interesting. Haw damper works now - good? no changes ?
I have a beta 250rr race 2019 and would like to fit the savage damper, what braket did you buy. Thanks
Make a video of the internals.. there are videos of the scotts being taken apart, is it identical? A guy from scotts is on a thumpertalk thread also disputing the quality there. I wonder if its serviceable with scotts parts.
I'm surprised Scott's doesn't have patents on that design.
It’s a Chinese knockoff. Do US patents apply abroad?
Does this dampener have the zero residence back to center like the scotts does????
Jason Grimm yes
Michael Sweigart It does not seen at 4min of the video...

It is not a complicated mechanism. There is really no reason for this to cost over $100
