Thank you as always for watching SUMO PRIME TIME. The fall tourney is heating up with the championship race becoming more and more exciting day by day. Entering Day 13, the leader of the pack was 37-year-old elder statesman Tamawashi at 2 losses. He was being trailed by four combatants each with 3 losses. And after 13 days, there are now 3 real contenders for the Emperor's Cup with Tamawashi still keeping sole possession of the lead. We're pleased to know that you also enjoyed our coverage of some Juryo action. We'll keep you updated on the competition in the second-tier division too so please look forward to it. With just 2 days to go we still don't know how this competition is going to end in Makunouchi and in Juryo, so please come back and join us for another edition of SUMO PRIME TIME on Day 14. "Arigato!"
I'm a Brazilian fan. Me and Sophia, my 3 yo daughter love to watch sumo. Her favorite Rikishi is Kotoeko (who she calls "Tokoeko") and we cheer hard for him. Sad that he got a maki-koshi today, but we'll still cheer for him do his best! Ganbatte, Tokoeko!
hair too short. hallmark of a fast riser! Mitakeumi, endo and ichinojo both made it to makuuchi without top knots. Generally those who could skip ranks by winning amateur/ college/ university sumo championships and be amateur yokuzuna have a fast track opportunity into division 3. Kimbozan went the normal route, but having no losses on the way up also let him reach juryo before having a top knot.
Tamawashi is currently 11-2 after day 13. Hokutofuji and Takayasu are both 10-3. If Tamawashi wins tomorrow he will be 12-2. If Hokutofuji and Takayasu both lose, they would be 10-4. In that case, Tamawashi would win the tournament, as the worst he could finish would be 12-3 and the best the other two could do would be 11-4. if Tamawashi loses and/or either of the other two wins, then it comes down to the last day.
Please more interviews & behind the scenes stuff! You could do so much more than just show the matches which most of us have already seen... Also, Hiro, if there is any chance that you could relay a message to the JSA, please tell them, in case they haven't noticed, that Covid is basically over now (yes, I know it's not totally over but it's mild enough to put in the same category with the cold or the flu) so it would be really great if they allowed the crowd to cheer again and restore the awsome pre-pandemic atmosphere before it is lost forever. Thanks a lot!

Apparently Kokugikan security put up checkpoints at the entrances so they could stop all the gaijin and make them say "Sumo Prime Time"
I am 100% in favor of that.
Secret code to enter the Kokugikan. :D
I had to look up gaijin. I’d imagine it’s a marketing strategy since the gaijins are where the new sumo fans are coming from. #sumoprimetime
Now I have another reason to attend a Basho
Added to the life goals list!
I'm still rooting for Takayasu!
I’m with you. But don’t get your hopes up.
Thanks for showing juryo, it's a very exciting time in that division with lots of young talent beginning to blossom.
I love Sumo Primetime! All we need now is some AKISEYAMA PRIME TIME!
cool to see the spotlight on juryo today.
im completely against henka and to see an ozeki not only use it but to ensure a KK? i could not stop giggling when it was used on him in return
I Agree. Takakeisho has strong tachiai skills, his henka was not fair, I think.
I yell-laughed when I saw it happen
We haven't waited for too long!
I'm so happy to see Takayasu finally performing well.
It was nice to see a bit of Juryo, thanks for sharing.
I want Takayasu to take it, but we will have to see. It is very much still up in the air.
Could come down to a playoff!
Perfect coverage of 13th day 👍 yusho to Takayasu 💖
thanks for covering today in juryo! cant wait for more lower division stuff!
Thank you for this great summary !
Thank you for the show! SUMO PRIMETIME!! 👍
it would be incredible to see Tamawashi get a Yusho at 37. Really hoping he can pull it off but Papayasu looking strong
Isnt this title a segment from the GrandSumoBreakdown podcast?
Poor hokutofuji, that eye is almost completely closed 🥺
He may need some surgery for that. Keeps opening.
The last two days are going to be very exciting!
I am eagerly waiting when you start Sumo livestream with commentory in English.
Thank you. I hope one day you'll do live streams :)
Yay
Why doesn't Kenbozan wear a top knot?

Kinbozan is so new he can't even do the topknot.
