I WAS THERE! 20 years ago, I was standing right next to Dick Bass himself as his minions prepared to open the Basin access at the top of Baldy at 9AM on a perfect bluebird morning after a 65 inch dump. I watched hundreds of powder hounds jump screaming into all that wonderful unmarked snow while Dick told me "I've been waiting 25 years to see this". He was so proud and pleased! With perfectly prepared fatties on my feet, I jumped in after them. What a morning! Mineral Basin is the link to Alta (at last!) but also is the only east facing terrain at Snowbird. So: no more hassling with bulletproof ice when you start early. Just go for the sun in Mineral Basin. I'm LOVIN it!!!😋
It sure is especially on a powder day. The only problem is the lift line can get long when it is busy. I wish they would build a more efficient lift system back there.
@@JOHANNDERDEUTSCHER Yes, I remember long lines during lunch time in the mineral basin lift......But on a day like the one you have it in your video, it is a blast!!!
This is The Path to Paradise witch is a work road down to the MB lift. You should drop in to the Bowl right off the top to get a better feel for the angle. If you stay on the Path to Paradise and stay high it will get you onto a Traverse that will put you into more challenging terrain.
I just named this video for the general area I was skiing this day. I have many more named for each run I did in Mineral. The runs are listed in the ending credits.

Mineral is south facing and you were standing on hidden peak not baldy.
Mineral basin is epic.....I was there 6 years ago and I want to go back there one day !!!

@@razm3610 When you catch it on the right day, Mineral is amazing. there have been days where I have been up there all alone.
I try to explain to others Snowbird. My favorite place. Great video!
Snowbird is so fun!
Yes it is. Especially on a powder day.
I love mineral basin. Mineral basin keeps all the ikon beaters off the cirque and out of the tram line.
I hate ikon. It has ruined the mountain.
@@JOHANNDERDEUTSCHER phuk the ikon pass and all the beaters who buy it
@@JOHANNDERDEUTSCHER All the more reason to go Alpine Touring in the BC in LCC.

No powder but at least the lift line is nonexistent. You should see it on a Saturday.
That's why Saturday is my day off.
now do this again in flat light
I have done it plenty of times in flat light and fog. It's so much fun.
Ended up with a coat full of snow a few times sliding flat light in the basin. And I mean FLAT light. Still fun.
