Hey Arthars, really good video here. I enjoy your (sometimes winding) commentary on vods or podcasts. You taking the time to write out your statements for a (probably?) scripted video really crystallizes your thoughts into easier to digest statements. A fantastic start to this type of content. I’m really looking forward to more of this from you in the future. I hope this is a fantastic start to additional media invitations in the future for you.
Hard agree on the alliance raids, they don't have to be harder, but should active in terms of gameplay for players, or a higher importance to do things within the alliance raid itself
no more "follow the leader" mechanics. where a single person who knows the fight can guide everyone else where to stand. It has its place. like say the first extreme of the expansion, stepping stones and introduction into difficulty after all. but in an alliance raid, it shouldn't be difficult to execute, but players should be actively solving mechanics not just following others. recall having to jump into the boss' belly in crystal tower, or the math problem in ivalice.
Thank you for sharing your insights and expectations for the upcoming DT expansion in FFXIV. Your optimism and enthusiasm are truly infectious, and it's clear that you have a deep passion for the game and its community. I completely agree with your points about the need for fresh and engaging mechanics in various types of content. Savage raids, Ultimate fights, and 24-man raids are some of the most thrilling aspects of the game, and it's exciting to think about how they might evolve in Dawntrail. Your emphasis on balanced and fun gameplay experiences for all jobs is also spot-on. Your personal reflections on your journey with "Final Fantasy XIV" and your role as a content creator are inspiring. It's wonderful to see how the game has provided a platform for you to connect with others and share your experiences. Your positive outlook and dedication to the community are truly commendable.
Sometimes you have to lose something to realize how good you had it, like Field Operations. People bitched about them, until they were no longer around and finally realized their worth. Same with the relic grind. The relic grind is more convenient now, sure, but it doesn't feel special, anymore. You just collect 1500 tomes and move to the next step. I just got done doing a few ARR relics, and even as tedious as the books, and the atma, and the light farming was, I still felt more attached to my old ARR relics than I do to any of my new EW ones, because I felt like I had to earn them. It also forced me to go back to do a lot of old content I had neglected.
Stormblood was an insane expansion. Storywise it was meh but content was crazy. Best alliance raid series, Susano is my all time favorite EX trial, the savage raids were great, ultimate was first introduced, massive job reworks, Eureka was the first of the field operations. Overall just an amazing expac. I hope Dawntrail delivers in its content like Stormblood did, and based on what we heared it looks like it will be packed
Great video! I dont really get much time to watch streams for anyone but ive always found you entertaining and relatable so i appreciate you doing a little more youtube. The ffxi music gave me flashbacks and im very excited to see what they do for it. I still remember that random 2.0 event with giant shantotto, shit was hilarious
With Savage i'm just hoping more arena variety, with P5,10,3 and 8S to be the starting points for the team to design fights. Fun, challenging content that isn't bullshit bodycheks will always engage and be fun.
Imo with they way ff combat is designed its really hard to make challenging content without body checks, otherwise you bring redmage and just corpse ress people until enrage while failing every mech.
I wasn’t there for Stormblood but I actually laugh when all these MSQ onlys cry about how boring Stormblood was when it has the most fun content in the game lol
@@qqewicz7386 Well yeah I was just stating that for people who have not done Stormblood side content. Also while people don’t like the MSQ I’ll say that I actually enjoyed all of the far east stuff and whenever Zenos was on screen
Arthars, love your vids. Hope you take some of this feedback. You sound monotone and would love to see more of your stream vibes come to your TH-cam videos. Other than that, this video was flawless. I enjoyed it. Cheers.
My hopes as always are: raid tier then 2 months later criterion with some bis gear (especially rings seen as bis for healers and paladins has been either raid and crafted or aug tome with tome) then alliance but also a hard mode of alliance with some more bis tier and then like even a month after that (so yes delay a bit so people can do hard alliance) Ultimate. That is my perfect raid cycle hope. Expectation is just theyll just do the same as always
Im definitely going into Dawntrail with a "See What Happens" attitude While i get that a lot of 7.0 is a graphical update, and some other stuff, housekeeping type of update... *its the same game* Ive been playing for 9 years, man And everything just looks to be the same thing ive been playing since Shadowbringers, if not Stormblood in a lot of places. They really need to shake the tree, overhaul combat and job design, overhaul endgame progression, overhaul gear. Even sync'd content, i dont want to play this game using anything but my max level anymore. Why do they need to level sync rather than just gear sync? If the content is good, then yeah, that speaks for itself, ill play it. But the excitement is gone for me. I havent seen anything that i havent already seen before, doesnt matter what fresh coat of paint you use.
We need a Mythic+ like content, an whole new system (Separeted from regular) that we can explore Monsters weaknesses, choose ours procs, traits, skills, bonuses and build our character depending on monsters and bosses, it'd be nice!
I didnt even think about the fact that there were no alliance breaks n requirements for the WHOLE 24 MAN! Ur right that it should be more challenging n this is from a casual player. We cant grow as a player if we arent challenged.
I didn’t really look to see what most ppl thought of the EW Alliance Raids but I’m glad I’m not alone. They had like no alliance mechanics, no split paths, very little tanking of separate mobs, etc. Next one needs way more of working as an ALLIANCE which is the point of them. Hope this FFXI one serves as Ivalice 2 cause those raids are peak
I'm a casual shitter so having to do a perfect deathless run of criterion savage is why I never did it. Plus as you said the rewards are garbage and you can get the mount from the tier before savage.
I’m excited. I don’t think we’ll go lower than Endwalker, the graphics update alone is something to be excited about lol. New zones also look pretty I think more TH-cam content for you like Xeno is a good idea.
I don’t agree on Alliance Raids cause every time I get popped into Nier or even worse Ivalice and having to go through Thunder God with people who don’t know the fight it becomes more of a hassle then fun.
I think the Alliance raids are OK from a design perspective, in terms of making random newbies move in the right places, but they are just too forgiving, people stand in three hits and still survive or you have 15 of 24 people die and still recover or once people get a few ilvls the bosses melt to quickly and you skip half the mechs. They are OK to keep the Nier/MoR design "styles" but just ramp up the damage and speed and make it harder to just brute rez force your way through.
I don't like how you talk in these videos. I watch your stuff for the loud unfiltered takes and this just feels like public facing arthas. I get it, its because you want to become more of a yt content creator in these but it just feels so out of place. You'll get it eventually, looking forward to more.
The main problem with Criterion isn't the rewards. It's basically 3 mini savage fights when we have been begging for dungeons to be a bit harder. But they are too scared to raise the difficulty at all on the base game. Why does everything have to be Savage level difficulty, I don't want to watch a TH-cam video or study for a fight like it's an exam just to play. It's agony.
Sorry but I do not have time to clear an Alliance Raid for an hour or over an hour. I have very limited time to play and do not want to spend an hour just to clear one raid.
I dont agree, Zeromus EX was an amazing fight to me, way more fun than most of the EX I've seen. So I guess i'm the only person in the world enjoying this fight? For alliance raid I agree though, did the third one day one and got everything perfectly, no wipe, barely anyone dying, compared to Nier raids (best ones :D:D:D) where there are still runs where it goes really bad lol, these 6.x alliance raid were just wayyy too straightforward Lack of Fields Operation has made me very angry towards endwalker patches. The lack of multiplayer content for a MMO.. I enjoy the new content, but it all gets useless after a week.. need more Bozja-like !!!
God no, 24 man has never been fun, there's too many people for it to be fun. If they insist on making them still, leave them easy, I don't wanna sweat for alliance raid, like what? That can be a daily my guy, I already don't wanna do dailies after awhile anyway, but I'm forced to, don't make me sweat during a daily.
They’re fun if done right. You probably just get boring Crystal Tower or NieR raids if you think they’re boring. Yeah of course the shitty lvl 50 content and the hour long alliance raids make you think they’re bad. Imo Ivalice are fun as hell and I enjoy doing them every time
Do people really want to go back to the days of Ozma in the wiping city? With leavers? I'm fine with 24 being more spectacle than substance, a weekly thing for the community to catch up in gearing, if it's too challenging it becomes a slog to get through.
@@Zephhi daily ivalice is the most boring and annoying content in the game. it even (somehow) lacks the fun aspect of watching sprouts dying like void ark or crystal tower. it's just pain the whole time

I'm also disappointed for Myth of the Realms, but because the 1st raid was perfect, there even was a mech where 1 guy can grief and murder everyone
Yup the first 24man is honestly the hardest one out of the 3 which is sad.

With Savage i'm just hoping more arena variety, with P5,10,3 and 8S to be the starting points for the team to design fights. Fun, challenging content that isn't bullshit bodycheks will always engage and be fun.
8S phase 2 is literally bodychecks on every mech lmao tf are you talking about.
Imo with they way ff combat is designed its really hard to make challenging content without body checks, otherwise you bring redmage and just corpse ress people until enrage while failing every mech.
excuse me sir, but you may wanna remove 8S from your statement if it also includes "bullshit bodychecks"
P2 had cool arena even though it was a sewage 😂
I can't believe you just listed a bunch of fights infamous for their body checks
We love you arthas. Keep it up
I agree with the alliance raids. Ivalice/Nier should be the standard for how they are structured imho.
I felt like Aglaia was so good, then instead of getting better, the Alliance raids got worse...much worse.
Stormblood was great expansion. I have played ffxiv since 2.0 and Stormblood was the only expansion I was subbed from beginning to the end.
