I was really Impressed with Mr. Guo's Kicking and Tongbei Pigua

The Pigua I train can be used at any range. The key is the largely forgotten benefits of the style to the motion of the body.

Man these subtitles suck. way too small and too fast. Can someone put a closed captioning translation over this?

not too hard to take a sec to pause and read it. I used to think it was a bit hard to read but now that I'm really focusing on learning it, it's quite easy

Interesting the way the Boxing kid interpreted his limited time with the Piguan in his match. He tried to use the Piguan to close distance, then at close range instinctively reverted to the boxing training. I'm sure the footwork required to maintain optimal range in Piguan must take a lot of sparring to learn. Interesting to watch a relatively unknown style in practice.

perhaps, but one of the masters mentioned how you take and adapt the techniques you have to the range you're given. He focused on the range of Pigua because that was what they focused on teaching but so many techniques are put in a situational box instead of being expanded into a true art. That's part of why Chinese martial arts are tromped on by Americans. So many people stick to the boxes of training and never expound.

How tong bei and piqua are different? because what I saw is their style are definitely the same as tong bei.I don’t see how pigua are different than tong bei, or both are the same just call in a different name?

Pigua is incorporated in tong bei with baji and others depending on the school

@@olivierpataut7015 The interesting thing is that Bajiquan and Piguaquan can be used together to complement each other in combat they even taught or practiced together. Using Piguaquan when in long range and Bajiquan when in close range.

As a Chinese and a kickboxer, I don't believe this could be useful facing the modern fighting technic.

Piqua is the companion style to Baji. They are both based on the movements and tactics of the spear. Baji is based on the close up movements/techniques and Pigua is the long range movements/techniques. They are usually intended to be learned as a set. They actually used to be one style, but split into two a long time ago. I'e learned both and find Pigua moves to be useful from a distance either in retreating or advancing. I'm sure someone could adapt it for medium range stuff, but it's not the original purpose of the style.

It's like every skill in life, wanna know how it works? Practice it yourself , never draw random conclusions just from watching or hearing from others

王AO your logic makes no sense
If you wanna USE a fridge , you learn how to USE a fridge.
      It's simple,
If you want skill A, then learn skill A.
And apparently, using fridge means opening it , insert or take out the item and closing it

王AO obviously you used a terrible example,
In terms of using a fighting style, it's you who decide whether it's applicable in real life situations.
Blaming on the style , it's like blaming on you having a useless tool. It's not the tool or the size or anything about the tool, it's how you use it.

In the beginning 6:24 show's two people sparing... one word: Terrible!! Looks like any other inexperienced fighters. Terrible kicking, punching and ground skills. A MMA or a boxer could take them out in a few minutes.
