It's hard to rank Nirvana songs but for albums: 1. Nevermind 2. Incesticide 3. In Utero 4. Bleach And that says a lot because all albums and songs on them are stellar
@@1968rus I don't think so, but probably the most important. When they recorded this album, Kurt felt he could be called like a musician, finally. Nirvana rocks!
It's funny how some of Kurt's riffs had an almost black metal quality to them, with the high, ringing, dissonant notes, and minor chord progressions, like Big Long Now or Aerozeppelin. Maybe just coincidence? I guess he was listening to some Celtic Frost though, and he did also like Black Sabbath, which obviously without them, black metal, and so many other metal genres, could never have come into being.
David Grohl said once that was a Celtic Frost/Smithreens tape stuck in their van audio. He said that maybe Nevermind being so sweet/heavy has something to do with that.
couldnt agree more. I've been listening to into the pandemonium for 30+ years. crazy. I'd never heard about the Celtic Frost/Smithreens tape. That's interesting. The Smithereens might be considered proto-poppunk. I can really see this.
That’s what made them so catchy! Guitarists we’re always into theory and needing to know every chord ever making the blandest thing ever. Kurt just grabbed one and made whatever sounded good to him
Nirvana was the first group whose music I learned on guitar and to sing! These songs are fun to play and just rock out to with friends. As an educator, this is thee way to get started in the world of music. You learn the true freedom of musical expression playing wise, singing, and lyrical composition. There is no right or wrong.
@@EBEFanclub1 You're right, songs were not written by kurt. This is the cover of the vaselines band. Kurt loved them and played their songs many times in concerts. He even named his daughter after the singer. Checkmate
It's incredible how songs like Hairspray Queen, Beeswax, Paper Cuts, Negative Creep are harder than a metal song. The Kurt's voice and some riffs are very metal...
He often talked about how he was growing tired of what he called the "verse, chorus, verse" format of songwriting in his genre. Hence Nirvana's song of the same name.
Incesticide is great because it brings some less popular songs from bleach into a new light, in my opinion I think it's awesome these songs kind of got a second chance at popularity
Yeah my most favorite nirvana Album. My most favorites a are stain, Dive, Son of a gun, Molly’s lips, Aero Zeppelin, Big long now (B3) Hairspray queen, And of course aneurysm .
Incesticide is the best album in my opinion, as it is also a very early nirvana, as some of the songs are from before the bleach era. And great video, thanks!
Incesticide has always been my favorite nirvana album if not my favorite album of all time all songs are different and have a different meaning and feel to them in this album this album is also so unique I've never heard anyone have this kinda sound
Mexican Seafood was your most accurate & well played (I think) - I got this back when it came out as my 1st Nirvana album. Thanks a lot for the post & also clearly showing what the left hand is more or less getting up to - I can't believe how simple 'Downer' is compared to how cool it sounds! I didn't know the riffs for half of these including Aero Zeppelin - my fav on this album - &'d always meant to get round to finding out or trying to figure them out roughly by ear; so Thanks again!
That's a really cool version of Polly. The Unplugged version is probably my favourite but it's really awesome to see the distorted power versus the quiet disquieting acoustic.
@@albaniqn the only way you get good at playing by ear is locating the notes on your guitar yourself using trial and error. Take your guitar and listen to any nirvana song and just locate the notes on your guitar. Since most of his songs are just power chords, it should be pretty easy.
i fucking love that tone and i love incesticide, one of my favorite albums, i also love your fear and loathing shirt (i just love everything about this video)
cant say ive ever heard a riff quite like big long now or mexican seafood. cobains style was truly unique i only wish i could understand his mode of thought towards wrighting so i could incorporate some of those elements into my own music. the melodies on top of his guitar style creates a mood that you just cant get anywhere else, i would have LOVED to see more stuff like incesticide or bleach. i think in utero was a nice in between of never mind and bleach mood wise. but will there ever be another band who captures this sound and puts it to use in thier own way? would be lovely to hear even if only for myself and no one else.
Aneurysm is so fucking good...one of Nirvana's most moshable songs IMO
We used to do a cover of it in my old band. No one ever moshed to it ☹️
First heard the live version from Muddy Banks of the Wishkaw - recorded from my friends CD to a tape
Epic track
No words just aneurysm intro....
Son of a gun
I always felt incesticide was merely forgotten since it was a compilation album but it has a bunch of awesome songs like you just proved
All nirvana songs are great tbh
@@Corehinduism that was terrible

More of a a Cobble-ation album, than a compilation album.

Incesticide is highly underrated but an excellent album
Their best one
More like a compilation, but helps the transition onto In Utero ;)
@@kkrsnn5632 you're right it's more a compilation, by the way in utero it's my favorite nirvana album :D

Anyone who appreciates filthy distortion should listen to Celtic Frost.

ohh, dude i fkn love black sabbath...
The dissonance and noise came from punk music like scratch acid or die kreuzen. Kurt would've honestly hated black metal
His riffs were so simple yet so sophisticated, damn I love how he didn't want to overcomplicate things.
They were simple but they sounded awesome compared to some super intricate yngwie malmsteen BS
That’s what made them so catchy! Guitarists we’re always into theory and needing to know every chord ever making the blandest thing ever. Kurt just grabbed one and made whatever sounded good to him
Most were simple but not all
Simple and good is hard to do. He accomplished that.

That's true, NIRVANA it's a great choice for learning guitar song's
Me to couldnt have said it better myself
Mollys lips is probably the hardest song here
😚❤👱🏻♀️
This song is just two notes. This one, and this one.
-Kurt Cobain

My most favorites a are stain, Dive, Son of a gun, Molly’s lips, Aero Zeppelin, Big long now (B3) Hairspray queen, And of course aneurysm .
Aero Zeppelin is a masterpiece
Kurt's vision and playing ability exceeded many people's expectations. That goes for Krist, too.
Mexican Seafood is such an underrated song.
my favorite nirvana song
i hope it says that way, the lyrics 😭
Incesticide is such an underrated album. Great work!
Dive still hits so hard though like I imagine this playing while walking into a bar to confront somebody
So using this as a tutorial vid. All time favorite album. My top favs are Mexican seafood, turnaround and been a son 🔥
Hairspray Queen sounds sick. Sounds like something I would hear in a game😂
It's probably my favorite song out of the album
Wtf games you playing 😂😂

Awsome job dude🤟
My favorite was mexican seafood and silver! Cant get any better than that😍
My favorite song by them is actually Mexican seafood and sliver is up there
The way the lyrics were written and the simplicity of Sliver made it my favorite Nirvana song.
The first record I bought with my first paycheck
Is it worth getting a record player? I've always wanted to. Apparently it sounds cleaner?
@@cheeriototoro8063 Sorry, my poor english, I mean my first vinil album

Alright blocksy love the videos man keep it up you're a great guitarist man also gotta love that guitar tone very roar-ey

This sounds like Kurt... Good Job, Man!
No it Kurt yes
Big Long Now was the song I was listening to when I found out this Kurt guy from the early 90s had passed away. crushed.
Great song prob my fav off the album
Love this album
Beeswax 💙 Mexican seafood 💙
My favorites too.
Only mexican seafood
All songs spot on, I love it. Incesticide's soo underrated since I bought the CD I'm so confused on how this album doesn't get the attention it's need
Favorite nirvana riffs hands down.
That DEVO cover is beautiful and Aerozeppelin is one of my all time favs.
Fear and loathing shirt on point
Yes!
i love the hairspray queen cover it sounded soo crazy!!

I like Polly from the muddy banks of wiskay
Probably favourite nirvana album, everything goes darker after beeswax, I love the it
How do you learn the songs? By ear? Or watching Kurt play? I’m curious..because you’re very good
Mostly by ear but I look at videos too, listen to live versions also.
Bloxsy how long did it take you for you to be able to recognize what was being played and how to get that to translate onto your guitar?
