    My favorite band of all-time. Even though Layne Staley was very sick at this point, ravaged from an addiction to heroin (that he later died from), he still had a powerful voice and presence here. Really hope you do many more of their songs, they were an incredible, unique band. They are one of the very few bands where I can say every single song they released I loved.

    RIP Layne Staley & Mike Starr
    Layne is the lead singer, Jerry Cantrell is Guitar / Vocals, Mike Inez on Bass and Sean Kinney on Drums

    I was glued to the tv the night this aired. It blew me away then and it still does. Layne had such a great voice. Broke my heart when he died. Almost all the lead singers I grew up with are gone and I felt them all deeply. Layne, Kurt, Chris, and Scott. Vedder needs to be stored in bubble wrap.

    Oh boy, you’re speaking my language now! I was a teen when they came out and became an instant fan. They are still my number 1 of all time! I think a part of me died when Layne lost his battle with addiction. This band is absolutely amazing vocally and Jerry writes the most beautiful and haunting lyrics! Layne was losing his battle with heroin addiction and was close to the end at this Unplugged set but you’d never have known it by how amazing he sounded! I actually prefer some of their songs in the Unplugged version. It’s hard to pick top songs but you should definitely hear Nutshell, Rain When I Die, Love Hate Love, Brother, Rotten Apple, Would and Rooster. They don’t really have a bad song, they’re all great! Please react to more AIC!!!

    Layne staley was a very good singer, his vocal tone was so unique, a true talented vocalist, and Jerry Cantrell has a very nice voice as well and good guitar solos, try songs like "them bones , would" and of course there is a lot more good songs by them, a timeless band

  • @chaddius3177
    @chaddius3177 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Little background on this song and performance: this was the lead guitarists’ song (Jerry Cantrell), he just had the lead singer (Layne Staley) sing it for studio purposes. Layne has Jerry singing more in this performance and the lead vocals at the end because Layne absolutely loved Jerry’s voice and wanted him to have more spotlight. Rest In Peace Layne

    My understanding about the band and I could be wrong, but they were messed up in heroin in the early days so that is part of the meaning to there lyrics. I love this band.I was addicted to crack for six years and all of there music talks to me. I have been clean for 20 years and when I heard there music I could relate. The Man in a Box brought me to tears because that was me to a tee.Man in a Box please

  • @user-uo1qr6vn1q
    @user-uo1qr6vn1q 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I remember Jerry saying how proud he was of Layne for working so hard to take this performance seriously. I can only imagine that meant Layne got clean for this. His throat still sounds a little closed (which is what happens on opiates), and by the way he’s acting it certainly seems he could still be just a few days out. Whether that’s the case or not, I’m not sure the general public really appreciates just how fucking terrifying those points are in a users life. In the end, all those were his choices and unfortunately they caught up to him, but my goodness what a gift he had regardless.

    The sad thing is he either looks pretty smacked out or he's really sick from not getting his fix. This was the second to last show he would ever perform before he turned reclusive and spiraled even further in his addiction. His last show, he was even more a shell of his former self and it's really rough to watch. The brightest candles burn out the fastest. RIP brother, and I hope you're up there jamming with Chris, Kurt, Wood, Starr, and Chester.
